I have to agree that DEI does more harm now than good. Instead of focusing on talent and skills that an individual can bring to the table companies instead look for that token ethnicity/sexual orietation/gender identifying individual that makes their company appear more diverse and meets a diverse quota percentage for metrics. Definitely agree that we are moving backwards.

I work in a steel plant and we got esg/dei policies in the employee handbook. It's everywhere these days.
This happens at every corporation. I'm Asian. I was clearly perfectly qualified for a promotion and didn't get it. I was talking to my old boss years later about it and he rubbed the side of his face with his finger. Apparently, that's code for somebody getting a job because of a certain race or color. That was 10 years ago.
That's called affirmative action my friend. And it's discrimination against anyone who doesn't check a certain racial box.

A company i used to work for, i was informed that despite having the most points in the interview process they considered giving the job to a woman cuz at the time they didn't have many women in the team. Luckily the interview view panel voted for me.

Companies do it because the massive financial firms like Blackrock have created a DEI scale for companies. They higher you “score” on their scale the more open to funding and capital you are.
