Could it be that "classic twin fin" means more like an MR? Even though he recommends more classic Lis type Keels, the outline fits into a classic MR with tweaks more so than the Fish with tweaks. Looks super fun even for CA.
Great question, thanks for asking. Most people think fishy boards were meant to be grovelers, but they’re actually designed for better waves - with good groveling as a side effect of the design, mostly due to the added width and flat rocker. Comparing the Fling to the Classic Twin, for groveling you have the option of thruster which works great in that design, obviously quad also. With the big tail block, that board can create a lot of horsepower in marginal surf. If you’re looking for a more “normal” shape to compliment your thruster that board will surf more like your every day board. The Classic Twin gets its horsepower from the keel fins rather than from a giant tail block. Set up with the right fins - Machado Keels in Futures, and FCS Modern Keels in FCS, it doesn’t feel drifty at all. Locked in, positive, drivey and fast. The Classic Twin is definitely a better all around board with more top end range, and also a unique feel to spice up your quiver and surfing. If you’re looking for a Fling, the co-designer of that board, Ryan Sakal, has an updated version of the Fling called the “Soap Box Derby”. We carry those as well as several other models from Ryan. We’re also stocked with Classic Twins with another delivery about to go online this week. Glad to help with either. Give us a call at the shop 252-987-6000. -Trip
Just discovered these videos. Great analysis and Brett's perspective on things is very relateable.

Okay, I went to your website and saw the board there and it looks more like a fish. I like the outline on Brett's version more with the wing or hip.
How does it compare to a groveller like Superbrand Fling, off course only in small waves? Doesn´t the twin slide out more easily than quad?
