Nice video, I drive these (390's & 221's) & rugby south under the flyover is one of my fav curves, 125mph flat out at almost full tilt (390) (only 115mph in a 221). Considering that used to be 90mph a few years back on the same alignment is proof on how well tilting trains work. The transition from upright to tilt is smooth & progressive so no spilt drinks. The Pendolino are a superb trainset, yes I still prefer old AC's but the amount of miles these things do daily is simply staggering.
@glitch4465 Reports today suggest that demand for rail travel is likely to double over the next 10 years - and it's already at its highest level since 1923, when the network was more or less at its peak! Consequently, much of the system is at or near capacity as it is - the WCML in particular is the busiest main line in Europe (if not the world) and is virtually full already, so HS2 is badly needed on capacity grounds if nothing else!
Sorry, but I was basically repeating what The Independent had said! So they are not going, but will be painted in First's rubbish livery, then run at a First Timetable? : ( I did share this video with some continental friends, and they were amazed at those curves, and loved your video! =D
Far from it - maglev lines cost three times as much to build as conventional lines! Furthermore, they wouldn't be compatible with the existing network!
I think if First listen, the service will still be good. Remember, people, it wasn't that long ago when you had trains that were always late, staffed by demoralised or indifferent to the point of ignorant staff, dirty and too old. No one really wants to go back to British Rail.
It is awful, what I heard today, Virgin loose this line, and all Virgin Pendolino's must be gone by early December? Is that woman a lunatic, or what? Remember that Virgin Trains, are part owned by Stagcoach! This is to get at the Scottish Government, and Alex Salmond! You wait for the sparks to fly now! =D
Firstly, only part of the WCML is near full capacity, and that is the south end. The second point I want to make is give me Class 47, 86, 87, 90 or HST any day over a Pendolino. The tilting on these things makes me sick, and I'm not the only one. Tilting trains are a big put off. The nausea gets worse if I try to read anything onboard a tilting Pendolino. If these things were twice as fast as what they replaced, I could live with it. But they are not. They only make very minimal time savings.
@Inkyminkyzizwoz I. K. Brunell's billiard table is still and probably will remain amongst the best tracks in the UK, we shouldn't through all Victorian together in the same pot. Engineers today can also botched the job.
@Inkyminkyzizwoz well i live in SC and i think this country when it comes to Transportation could do better. i mean If were such a Super power why not. take the advantage of our power name but right now China is looking pretty good. so is UAE and Japan. they are looking alot better off then america.
@growingup15 And people think our railways are bad! I honestly don't think ours are nearly as bad as people make out - people in this country just like to moan a lot!
@growingup15 Acrion must be taken, but the goverments proposed HS2 is simply not the way. Its a rediculous proposal, same with Greenguage, wait, your in favour of the "Y" shaped Network?
Look at that one tilt!! Great vid!!

Would you say engine driving is a difficult job? I’ve always been interested in it
(Edit) Whoops. You we’re talking about a model 😂
This will always be a classic.
Thats nice, Im just getting into trains and its vids like this that got me hooked.
Super, that Pendolino comes round that corner soooo quick :)
Looked great, thanks for sharing!
This is actually kina scary
wow
awesoem video
Great vid:-)
These pendolino's are way faster than the First Great Western HST's
There is no way there are going to be replaced by the HST's in First Great Western livery
But they are being taken over by the azumas
@1madaboutguitar Well, there's only so much you can get out of a system that was lagerly built in Victorian times - all the reason for building HS2.

In any ways pendolino means tilting train cool isn't it😂😂😂❤
nice one mate, cor it looks like a motorcycle at a grand prix, 5*
I'd hate to be drinking anything on that!
I Think the virgin pendolino is an awesome train at high speed :)
nice train.
i would like to see one of our uk trains hitting speeds of over 250mph lol
I don’t think that’s gonna happen. The fastest are the e320s, which do 200mph on HS1.
hs2 next decade hopefully
Hmmmmm, odd. I was just watching snooker :)
But good video all the same.

@Northernspotter101 Cool ;-)

like uk train
The Acela Express goes at 155 mph, the class 390 only does 125. Would of done 140 if it wern't for the government...
glitch4465 Yeh That piss alot of train spotters like me. BUT HEY AT LEAST THE IS A HS1 THAT GOES 140mph.
@Inkyminkyzizwoz I. K. Brunell's billiard table is still and probably will remain amongst the best tracks in the UK, we shouldn't through all Victorian together in the same pot. Engineers today can also botched the job.
What time is It? its tilt time!!!! Lol
What's the speed of the Pendolino's. Please tell it in km/h.
Rainbowroad12345 i think 200 km/h, but i am not Sure
Top design speed? 230 km/h
Max in service speed currently : 201 km/h
here is about 180km/h
What other train can tilt because i kno that that trains is the best at tilting
class 390 can do 140mph the max only does 125mph on the railway for it tilt
class 221 can do 125mph the max only does 125mph on the railway
WCML

@Inkyminkyzizwoz HS2? No way

Lol
Amazing speed but if the pendolino trains tilt round that turn so fast they might detail so what I saw was a bit dangerus
quem e brasileiro da joinha ae:)
@trespire "Engineers today can also botched the job." What is that supposed to mean?
@Inkyminkyzizwoz The trains are good but the tracks SUCK!
Shame if FIrst get the franchise. Still crap trains though I hate pendilinos
