- Duck hunting will remain legal in Victoria despite at least two ministers personally opposing the ban ahead of a three-hour cabinet meeting which confirmed the government's position.
Victorian Outdoor Recreation Minister Steve Dimopoulos confirmed duck hunting would remain legal in the state.
Mr Dimopoulos revealed he doesn't enjoy it but says he can't tell people how to live their lives.
The Victorian Gaming Minister Melissa Horne has said she will abide by the decision of the state’s cabinet but is fundamentally opposed to the sport.
The Victorian Children’s Minister Lizzie Blandthorn says she also doesn’t support the decision of the government to keep duck hunting legal.
Unbelievable finally some sanity in Victoria I just don't believe it..
Don't worry, they will stop it by some other means. It is Victoria after all.
Ducks have been hunted in Victoria since the first Aboriginals arrived, which if memory serves was a bit before 1860.

Pulled my membership years ago. SUA is my advice for any shooters although they're only a genuine reason in Qld and I think NSW.👍🍺🇦🇺

You can eat duck and at least those ducks get to live a natural life unlike their factory farmed counterparts.
Something tells me the supporters don’t just want a ban on duck hunting, they ultimately want a ban on meat eating altogether. Otherwise, their hypocrisy is showing because what I said about the lives these wild ducks lead versus their factory farmed counterparts is true.
Not to mention these wild ducks have an opportunity to live another day unlike factory farmed ducks being dropped off at a slaughter house.
Duck hunters paid for those wetlands through their licence fees. If it wasnt for hunters, these areas are unlikely to exist.
