I also work in the library. Cataloguing, adding tags, UDC code to books. Disadvantages: salary. Advantages: everything else. Here everything was rebuilt after the war since like 80% of buildings were destroyed.
Currently studying library science and looking forward to starting work. Your videos are calming for me and I always come here to see your literary recommendations.
So true, how (female) librarians in particular are romanticized in the movies. I'm thinking of Evelyn O'Connell from The Mummy movies. Granted, she was a romantic interest, so ...😂
Yes, it‘s so sad :( but the history library gives me a similar vibe just more intimate so I might go there instead. How sweet, thank you so much ✨ all the best to you!
Thanks for the behind-the-scenes insight, I had a blast completing my PhD & teaching in the university system (creative writing), so have spent many happy hours in uni libraries (but from the front-of-house perspective) - a fun video, thank you!
Thank you for your kind words! I wish there were more programmes to study creative writing in german speaking countries, it is still very rare and only a few universities offer it. All the best!
Thank you for a lovely video on libraries! I worked at our university's library for 3 to 4 years while I was studying and I absolutely loved it! One of my favourite things to do was to go and find the books someone reserved to be put on hold. Since then I've been visiting all the public libraries around our city...we have so many! I also prefer the older libraries to the more modern ones, but if a library has a lot of good study tables...it's always a win. In South Africa, some of my favourite libraries are the Cape Town Central library and the library in Rondebosch.
Thank you for your videos! I was lucky to travel to Vienna last fall. I have been enjoying your videos to keep me excited until my next visit which is later this week. Any vintage bookstore recommendations? Thank you!
Wow. Such a lovely job. I didn't know even anyone can be librarian. When i have a chance, definitely I'm going to think. How much time do you work? And what is the difference between full time librarian and assistant in terms of time?
It highly depends on where you are, every institution does it differently. In my case the public library of Vienna allows assistants to work up to 16h per week. I believe at the university library it is only around 10h if I am not mistaken. 🤗
It’s sad to hear that they are closing the big reading room. I much prefer it to the reading rooms at my study-specific libraries (prehistory and economics).

Yes the salary is a big disadvantage but most of the jobs in the culture segment that I am interested in are poorly paid…
What a lovely and interesting video! I always appreciate recommendations from librarians as a reader.
Thank you, how lovely ✨

This sounds really great! It has something special to walk through the shelfs and look for books. You are kind of in your own world ✨
I agree! It truly feels magical!!

How great, I am glad you enjoy my videos :) Thank you! I haven’t taken my time to check out many vintage bookstores in Vienna but I really should!
