Not everyone will grasp the full import of this video but the subtext was not lost on me. Wiltshire and its surrounding counties have a long deep history in aviation. Many of my family have a long hidden history here. From Yeovil through Boscombe Down to Southampton. Forget area 51. The Yanks have got nothing on us. I once asked my grandfather if UFO's were real. He was a regular visitor to Boscombe. He described seeing a huge cigar shaped ship glowing orange in the sky as he drove home across Salisbury plain. It was his way of saying yes without breaching the official secrets act. Not long after that Dad took me to a safe house. While he was taking care of official business he told me to go check out the back garden. To my astonishment and wonder there was a beautiful craft parked on the lawn. Sleek, seamless and bronze in colour. The pilot gave me a look that said " You can look but not touch". A hatch opened and a little boy poked his head out. He showed me a perfectly engineered zero point generator in the palm of his hand. His smile was warm as the sun. I remember well riding my motor bike home through the piddle Valley and watching a "Meteor" fly over my head and up the valley. Straight and level at cruising speed. There is magic in the air and whispered secrets in those green valley's.
Thank you for your recitation of my favorite poem. As a Canadian John McGee gave his life to King and country and left us with the most poignant poems on the subject of air warfare. As a Canadian I can not but feel a sense of honor in having served in the same armed forces as he.
“These pedals are not really meant for organ repertoire”, then proceeds to play organ repertoire beautifully 😂 further proof that it’s not the instrument but the musician that makes music.
Consider the "surly bonds of earth" slipped -- in the loveliest way. Thank you, Ben. Not long ago a friend of mine speculated that the centuries-old ideal of the Renaissance Man was no longer achievable in the 21st century. There was just too much to know at this point for the human brain to take in. Your accomplishment here might argue against that. Cameraman, researcher, narrator, organist, historian, composer, driver, and cheese and pickle chef...I'm sure I've missed a few. Beautiful drone footage (yes, I confess, I'm now a believer...baptise me in the Avon on the next warm day, please) combined with perfect church interiors, poetry that ranged from poignant to whimsical, butterflies and even original music, compliments of Ben Maton. It feels as though handsful of pearls, sapphires and emeralds have been poured into my hands this Sunday evening. Only better. Much gratitude.
The poem "High Flight by John Gillespie Magee" was written by an American pilot who joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and after training, came to England to fight in WW2. 3 months after writing the poem and sending it home to his parents, he was killed in a flying collision over Lincolnshire in 1941 and he is buried in Scopwick church. He was 19yo. I know most people will probably know this, so this is just in case. More info on Wiki if you are interested.
You are a phenomenal person Ben. I think you awesome and amazing in so many ways. You are obviously a Christian with a deep faith and devotion to God. Bless you dear Ben
I thought the same thing from the very first video. A BBC special aired in America on our PBS network. Sister Wendy brought a new appreciation for art, Lucy Wolsey the backrooms and secrets of old British castles and now Ben is allowing the world to see the marvel of old village churches and their pipe organs. Good job Ben!!!
Ben I’m not a pickle eater but love cheese but this is a very traditional lunch while in the countryside also very economical may the Lord bless you in this service to your followers and any that come across you on line
I love the way you breathe life into these neglected churches by making them sing again in harmony with their architecture. You revive beautiful and timeless aspirations.
I feel as though I'm witnessing every week the evolution of what will become a world-renowned channel. Please keep going with these Ben, we all love your videos! Thank you so much!
There's a thing ! I do the same. How wonderful that these two highly talented people are in touch with each other. I wonder if Ben has played an arrangement of "Generous Jesus" ?

A Buxtehude toccata and two butterflies herald the first video with 30,000 subscribers to Ben’s channel. Ben has leapt from zero to hero in the cause of friendless churches, captivating the hearts and minds of people everywhere with music and poetry, now further supported by Ray’s harmonium and a drone.
A wonderful video, again, but this time for me it was the last piece, music written by yourself (?) & reciting the poem by JG Magee Jr (Royal Canadian Air Force) Brilliant! (JGM Jr's poem written after he flew a Spitfire up to 30k feet. He died in a training accident 3 months later).

A humble request, if I may… If possible, when including original music in your videos, I’d love a link in the description to a page where I can buy a copy of the score. The piece at the end of this video would be divine during communion at my church, or for me to play for myself on a placid rainy day. I’m especially interested in your works for reed organ. We need more newly composed reed organ music. It’s such a beautiful sound, so vocal, and it breaks my heart to see them neglected and unplayed. Contemporary repertoire would help breathe new life into the instruments. Thank you, as always, for your inspiring work.
Greetings from County Wicklow , described as the garden of Ireland 🇮🇪☘️ very like Stert where you are visiting today. Beautiful combination of scenery, poetry , music and of course , your wonderful sharing. Thank you Ben.
Hi Ben. Yet another lovely visit to a beautiful Church, and your excellent talent with the Organ. You now make these videos even better with the addition of drone footage. What a fantastic invention they are - they put a totally different perspective on the beautiful country we live in. Thanks Ben for taking us on your adventures with you. Take care 🙂

Curious if you’ve ever thought about getting some vocalist friends (SATB) to accompany you on some of these trips to sing some hymns inside some of these beautiful old churches with you playing? It could give us an idea of what the services of yesteryear would have actually sounded like in there on a given Sunday morning long ago.
What a beautiful view from the drone. I love watching your videos of Old English Churches and listening to you playing abandoned Organs. Thank you for sharing.
I feel so lucky living in Wiltshire. People drive on through to get to Devon and Cornwall and don't realise what they're missing. Ben is making me appreciate it even more with his wonderful videos.
Ben, this video was a blessing at the end of a particularly harrowing day for me. I cannot thank you enough for helping to restore my sense of peace. Your recitation of "High Flight" immediately transported me to another time and place and deeply resonated with the beautiful background of your playing. And, the captivating views reminded me of my hometown in the mountains of Appalachia. I thought for sure I had previously subscribed and apparently I hadn't; I've never hit the button faster! Keep up the excellent work. Your artistry is a gift to us all and a great gift from God to you as well. Thank you for sharing it with us in turn. Have an amazing week, and God bless.
Butterflies, Buxtehude, a bunny and Ben; what an utterly delightful window into your world, Ben!! One point; I'm not an organist, but, please, continue to show and describe the stops on the organs you play, even if for you it's a bit boring, for us it adds a wonderful dimension to the whole "Ben" experience! Once again, here in Australia on a cold winter Monday morning, your video warms the soul.
❤❤ Ben, just when I think you can't do anything better, you blessed us with this. I'll never get to see these places but now I can, a little. Well done and thanks again ❤❤ PS congratulations on 30k
Hi Ben. Did you know that on Christmas Eve, Mrs. Claus handed Santa Cheese and Pickle to eat along his gifting way, before she jaunted off in her helicopter to deliver a very special package to a home in London. The views over the countryside there are magnificent. As neighbors pass by and hear Heavenly Music, they say to themselves, "Oh, Ben must be inside playing !!"
I remember the poem "High Flight," written by a RAF pilot during the Battle of Britain, I believe; a thousand years ago, sometime in the late 20th century, before we had 24-hour television service, our ABC network would sign off at midnight, like the other networks there was a short, sign off bit, this was the poem "High Flight," read by an Air Force pilot, background showing a fighter jet flying into the sunset. (Sorry for being so long-winded.) Totally awesome and beautiful shots of the countryside, nice little toy you've got there, Ben. As always a good show, keep on living the good and inspiring life dude!

Thank you , Ben, for this pleasant end to my Sunday. I'm a big fan of Early Music and Buxtehude in particular. Many years ago, I played in a Recorder Consort and Buxtehude was a part of our repertoire, along with JSB. Nice to hear 'Morning Has Broken' again. Regrettably, these days, it only ever seems to get played at Funerals. Thanks for the poetry and the final tune on the Portable Organ. It's starting to sound better, now that it's being played again. I love your content , ths organ , the poetry and this time the butterflies , one thing is troubling my mind though , i have not yet seen one Butterfly this Summer !
Another beautiful edition... You are doing England and us all a great service, Ben in a quiet, simple way - making essays, like windows for us all to enjoy passing through ... something akin to what old John Betjeman did way back in the B+W epoch (but of course your programs are very different, too). Betjeman wasn't the first to liken churches to boats we enter into and are transported to another realm in time... May God Bless you on your path. By the way the haunting composition you played by way of a backdrop to that magnificent poem by John Gillespie Magee Jr was suitably uplifting ... You created a sense of joy tinged with melancholy and nostalgia - and the drone footage tied the two together ... Bravo! Excellent viewing that deserves some donations - and I SHALL make mine as soon as I possibly can. And it won't be an old out of circulation crooked Peso, I swear! (OR an Irish sixpence as the measly Larkin wrote in his Church Going poem, I think!). Cheers from your couple of fans down here in Guanajuato, Mexico.
Brilliant Ben, amazing drone footage, a good investment. Thank you for all that you do. PS Where is that powerful intro piece which you normally play? There’s nothing like a bit of power, it wakes people up, they pay attention.
Hello from Australia. My 2x great grandfather was baptised in 1808 in the Little Bedwyn church, married in Figheldlean and lived with his family in Enford. Convicted of machine breaking during the Swing Riots in Enford in 1830. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) for 7 years with no hope of returning to his destitute family. These 3 churches played a role in my ancestors lives. Thank you for featuring the wonderful ancient churches and surrounding countryside in Wiltshire. Also for the wonderful music.
A delightful end to a Sunday evening Always a pleasure watching and listening to you Ben . The drone brings a new dimension to your videos to these lovely churches. Grateful thanks to you Ben🙏
I fell in love with "Morning Has Broken" when I was a young teen, and heard it on my friend's L.P. I always thought it was Cat Steven's own song, so imagine my surprise "discovering " it in our Presbyterian hymnal. I still sing it to myself, these 55+ years later. "Praise with elation, Praise every morning... God's recreation Of the first day!"
All the usual accolades apply- great scholarship, great instruction, great playing, your videos are a reliable delight. But I'll follow that with a flippant HOORAY YOU SHAVED! hahaha
Dear Ben, I love your videos so much. I have dear friends in both Devon and Nottinghamshire. I am a Yank and I do so miss the green hills of England and the pubs! I have not been able to visit since the Pandemic. For now, I will have to live vicariously through your entertaining videos.
Dear Ben, Thank you very much for this week’s edition. We are looking forward to see the next one. Talented as you are, never do we ever notice any display of self importance. Being such a gentle and humble person is like a breath of fresh air and we sincerely enjoy your videos. Have a great week Kind regards Dawie and Werner South Africa.
Ben, an utterly beautiful film as always, but even more so with that poem by John Gillespie Magee at the end. A new poem to me, but it was overwhelmingly poignant following a family tradegy here three weeks ago. Thank you.

If only you could hear the beauty of a pipe organ in all churches. Thank you Ben.
Much love for Buxtehude -- always welcome.
Brilliant Ben, amazing drone footage, a good investment.
Thank you for all that you do.
PS
Where is that powerful intro piece which you normally play? There’s nothing like a bit of power, it wakes people up, they pay attention.
A swallowtail!
Thanks!
Entire video excellent. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful drone views, along with a lovely interior of the church as well. Thank you.
Beautiful countryside, church and music. And your accent adds a new life to ur readings!!❤
Thank you so much. God Bless and keep you.
A delightful end to a Sunday evening
Always a pleasure watching and listening to you Ben .
"Praise with elation,
Praise every morning...
God's recreation
Of the first day!"
I love that you've put your new reed organ to use as soundtrack and underscoring. It works incredibly well for the purpose. Keep it up!
Your vlogs just became even more magical, Ben! Congrats on the new technology and using it to "broaden the scope of our imagination"!
Thank you for taking me on this journey of reflection and peace.
Dear Ben,
Thank you very much for this week’s edition.
We are looking forward to see the next one.
Talented as you are, never do we ever notice any display of self importance.
Being such a gentle and humble person is like a breath of fresh air and we sincerely enjoy your videos.
Have a great week
Kind regards
Dawie and Werner

Thank Ben for another special organ recital and poetry reading. Loved Morning has broken.
Wonderfully relaxing watching, before the difficult task of getting to sleep on a Sunday before work!
Ben, an utterly beautiful film as always, but even more so with that poem by John Gillespie Magee at the end. A new poem to me, but it was overwhelmingly poignant following a family tradegy here three weeks ago. Thank you.
Hi Ben I’ve tried 3times to donate but unsuccessfully
Can you donate without PayPal
Just using a credit card.
The option for credit card payment seems to ask to create a PayPal account.
I’d welcome any assistance
Many thanks Bob
I think if you touch the little heart with the dollar sign in it and “thanks”, you can donate using a credit card. It’s right under the video. Check it out.

Thank you, Ben - each video is even better than the last, if that’s possible!
