I’ve noticed that Dark Man 1 is nearly identical to a boss in Tunnel Rhino's stage in MMX3, Dark Man 2 looks a little like Zero, Dark Man 3 looks a little like Vile, and Dark Man 4 is VERY similar to Double's true form.
As someone who grew up on Mega Man 5 and adores this theme, I would suggest raising the main melody (0:00 - 0:18) up an octave. I can't really describe the 'flavour' it has when it's that high, but I definitely feel like that's what's missing. Raising it up will also help when the Bridge loops back to the beginning, as the melody prepares that leading note D#, only for it to suddenly drop an octave and technically resolve to Em but not quite, if you get me.
I tried raising the melody up an octave at first, but it didn't suit the colour the synth playing it, which is why I have it down the octave. And I just double checked the .ptcop, the D# is in the same register as the E in the loop - maybe you're hearing the A a tritone above it which I purposely didn't resolve, as it would ruin the pace of the music (and the original doesn't resolve it anyway, but that could be argued that it was because of the limitations of the NES, and was almost certainly the reason why).
www.hooktheory.com/theorytab/view/mari-yamaguchi/mega-man-5---dark-man-stage HookTheory tab of the original song for further context... there's nothing wrong with the octave separation in this arrangement, changing an octave simply transposes the harmonic structure up or down and does not affect the resolution, and the leading tone at the loop is at the correct octave that it needs to be. EDIT: And i just listened to the original, the leading D# in the original song at the loop is an octave _lower_ than the "verse" melody. So you can argue that this arrangement is an improvement.
Fresh sub reporting. This has always been one of my favorite tracks in Mega Man history, and I have a lot of respect for the way you tackled it. It's a very faithful arrangement (most of your stuff seems to be - props for that!) that still breathes new life into the track. Plus I'm a sucker for the soundfont you picked. SNES, if my ears are any good. You're doing excellent work. I'm on a liking spree with this stuff. Much respect, and a subscription well earned. :)
God, blues castle. What a great theme, and what a great arrangement! Also. Let’s be honest, dark man 2 is more of a intro stage boss than a fortress boss.)

hahaha Oh yes, as if there were a remastered Megaman, what a shitty theme and seeing as Megaman, how disgusting, as if it were from Sega, ha, since I'm not a Megaman fan, you shouldn't listen to this crap, I prefer to listen to the Dragon Ball Z themes.

Dark Man 4 is meant to resemble Proto Man
You shouldn't expect to defeat him. He's built to be a war machine.

This theme was like "You are coming close to the end of the game but not quite there yet" - it had that immediacy to it.
My favourite theme from Megaman 5 has never sounded so good. This is so damn amazing 😊
