This is my dads car. He bought it about a month ago. He was so excited when he told me that Scotty said yes to making a video on it!
Scotty is a legend 😁
I glad your dad got a v6 and not a 4 cyl. He would have hated it. The 5 cylinder barely motivates our 2020 Camry well enough. I have to put it in performance mode every day and sometimes manually shift it.
The Venza is heavier than the Camry. Sure way to kill this vehicle sales is to put a 4 cylinder in it.
That was 4 cyl, not 5 😂
@@ginakerry2588 this was 4-cylinder 6 speed

My aunt has the 2013 year model which still has 38k miles on it since she doesn’t use it a lot with the 4cyl engine LE version. My grandpa was the first owner of that same car til he passed away in 2019. Runs pretty smooth and shifts nicely. Very comfy and roomy on the inside as well with the fabric seats.
I’m with you Scotty, I love Toyotas, my last Toyota was a 2.7 Ltr Toyota Land Cruiser Prado had it for 18 years, dragged a 2300kg caravan all over Australia, it never missed a beat. I’m a diy mechanic & do all my own servicing, over the 18 years, I spent about $1500 on a new clutch a set of ignition coils & I replaced the injectors. I now own a Toyota Rav 4 hybrid, if I get half the service out of it like I did with my prado I will be happy.
One of the things I like about this Scotty Kilmer channel is how it shows how some people have had apparently less success with their lawn as I have had! My BIG problem with my lawn in Woodbridge (VA) is the lespedesa that comes up every year. This year for the first time, I put down Dimension pre-emergence weed control in early March, but it seems like some of these weeds are sprouting up. If it only reduces the amount of this weed, I will try this again next year with an earlier application.
I bought a 2013 Venza bought new and I still have it. 56000 miles 2.7 engine . It's fast enough for us and I do get 27mpg on the highway. The 19 inch tires are road noisy on the highway but it's a quiet car in

Same. I discovered him a little over two years ago.
I've had a 2013 Venza since 2014 and I love it. Same spec as this one- 4cyl, FWD. Thing is bulletproof and hasn't left me stranded. The only complaint I have is the steering column rattle issue. It's apparently harmless, but it is an annoying sound and from what I understand, expensive to fix. Other than that superficial thing, it's been a fantastic vehicle. I've put 100,000 miles on it and it's sitting at around 140,000. I imagine it'll go to 350,000.
I bought a 2009 Toyota Venza brand new. Gave it to my daughter 4 years ago. Has 190,000 miles and still going strong. The car is a TANK!!! I have no doubt will go another 100,000 miles. The only negative is the car rides HARD! If your ok with that then you will get one of the best cars out there. Has more interior room than my Jeep Grand Cherokee which I lease and will happily hand in when the lease is up! I will be buying another Toyota real soon! Simply the Best!
I always loved the Venza, they remind me of a huge hatchback, but the one thing I didn't appreciate so much was the back passenger windows were slanted and pretty small, but that's not enough to stop me from buying one if it were in great shape and the price was 👍 good
One year ago, I got a 2013 Venza. It has high miles (just rolled over 200K) and had the transmission rebuilt six months ago. The 2.7L four cylinder has enough power unless you pull a trailer.

I've owned 30+ cars in my life including various Toyotas but my current vehicle is a 2014 Venza 6 cyl. AWD Ltd that I bought used 5 years ago. It is the best car I've ever owned as far as reliability and functionality. Besides regular maintenance all I've spent on it is a passenger side puddle light assembly for $80.00 Cdn. These cars are a hidden gem and I would buy another if Toyota still made it in this configuration. I'm evidently not alone in my opinion, as I see literally dozens of these models in my small town in Ontario, Canada. It is roomy, relatively quiet, powerful, and is relatively fuel efficient. Perfect...no, but not far from it!
The prices of used cars are so crazy, it's become normal to think $14k for a used car over 100k miles is a good deal
Oh, I know. I've been looking around and it's stressful
Venza is a great car...I have a '13 LE, 2.7, 70k miles. Gonna keep it till I can no longer drive.
Gotta love the “nothing great really” dab pen analogy TOO ACCURATE
I bought myself a beautiful 2014 Limited . I LOVE this car! Gas mileage is abysmal on my 6 cylinder, but our other car is a Prius so we are fine. She’s got 8” of ground clearance which we love.
Thank you. I'm seeing Venzas on the road more.
This will be my next vehicle purchase
I just love Scotty's no-nonsense approach to life. Very practical 😉👍
Not sure what planet Scotty lives on but older Venzas have probably one of the highest resale values for the years. Try finding one under 100k miles for less than 12k or more. People love them.
Ive got a 2013 v6 awd and bought it cause i saw Scotty recommend it in an older vid. It is the smoothest and most useful car ive ever owned. Love it. Plently of room and super comfortable for doing long drives.

Thank you Sir. I just acquired a 2014 and I’m absolutely in love with this thing. This pick up speed is impressive for such a large vehicle. Also it’s not a sedan but it’s not a suv. It’s a nice sports like cross over. Loving it.
That's crazy, just bought one yesterday, 2013 but the LE V-6 version, yeah doesn't need the extra power but it's more fun to drive
Glad I found this channel! Thanks!
No joke I've been waiting for you to make a video on the Venza. I just bought a 2010 with over 200k miles on it. Price was right so I didn't even think twice. These things are bulletproof and I LOVE mine
How much you paid
I can tell you that having a 4cyl for many years living in a snow cold weather state wasn't always the best experience. After going from a car into a midsized suv with a v6 and awd I would never ever go back. I handle any and all bad weather conditions with ease, and I drive through tons of bad snow storms this year and feel more comfortable and confident doing it. My honda was great. I loved my Accord, but having more power, more traction, and more capabilities with the suv is a very nice welcoming change.

Hey you showed my Morris Minor Tourer as an old wreck. I have one and I love that car.
This model of Venza was massively successful in Canada. People freaked when they stop making them and it even jacked up the price. But, unfortunately Canadian sales weren't enough to keep the model relative enough for Toyota to sell them. I think they are great.
Just buy one in the USA.
After finishing importation forms and the Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) inspections, your car can be legally used in Canada.

I have a 2011 V6 Venza with 104,000 miles on it. It had 17 miles when I drove it off the dealer's lot. It is an outstanding vehicle. The only thing I've ever had to do to it was replace the alternator at around 100,000. It is quiet and powerful. It's starting to show some wear on the driver's seat leather, but people who have never ridden in it think it's brand new. We also have a 2009 Camry V6 with also around 104,000 on it. Same engine and the alternator on it went out at around 95k. My wife has driven it since brand new and it's showing its age b/c she kept it parked outside in the hot sun until she retired. I drive a company vehicle every day and the Venza has mostly lived in the garage and is used for long range cruising which Scotty and other mechanics say is better. The Venza is awesome!
And I don't even like sunroofs. Nice one, Scotty. Thanks!
These are hard to find. Not like trying to find either a Honda CRX or Toyota Supra in original factory condition but these just aren't out there in big numbers. The good thing is that you can usually get them a little cheaper than something like a 4Runner or Highlander.
Komradekolonel, this is my Venza that Scotty reviewed. I was also looking at RAV-4’s and CR-V’s, but the same year, trim, and mileage of those vehicles in my area (Indy) we’re going for $4K - $5K more for essentially the same vehicle. 🤷🏻♂️

I had an '09 Venza for many years. It was a good car but it had a lot of road noise and didn't handle well on the highway. It also shifted hard in low gears.
That 4 banger was from the Tacoma. And the wagon had huge wheels and tires to balance out the shape so it didn't look like a... wagon. 😂
Was salesmen for 3 yrs , the road noise is terrible. Back seat.
Because its built strong like a Tank..so thats why its rough but reliable..😂😂
Please review the new Toyota Venza!!!
My 15 Scion XB with 42k for less $. 3.5 yrs ago on the Lot, I came back 2 weeks after my first offer. Only budged a little more. They called “me” a week after that. Got my sweet Deal. It was on lot 60 days. Manual Trans. Similar MPG. Simple. Roomy. No stuff I do not need. Very Happy. Ill keep it until I’m retired or way beyond. GenX.
Your customer is a smart guy! Very nice SUV that will last at a decent price!
Scotty, I really like the first generation Venza. However I could not find a nice low mileage Venza at a decent price last year. Hence I bought a 66k mile 2008 Ford Crown Victoria P71. The Ford is amazing. I drove it from Los Angeles to the Texas coast and back, no problems whatsoever. The big plus is it runs on Ethanol. In Southern California regular gas is $4.60 a gallon. Ethanol is $3.20 a gallon.
The best mileage I got on the freeway was 24 mpg. I understand the concern about all the complicated electronics/systems being reliable over time. My Ford has actual knobs and buttons and 2 wheel RWD. Yes, 4 speed "real" automatic transmission.
Just bought an 09 Venza. Got a great deal on it and I’m very happy with it
I just a 2010 Venza 3 weeks ago
Legend! Htown misses ya!
had one for years. Selonoid can go bad causing transmission gear slips. But the engine is perfection.
My Friend worked for ATI Steel in PA and he said they would roll coil sheets for Ford Chevy Toyota and some others can't remember exactly which one.
Toyota was the only one, the only one, That it was Mandatory to coat both sides of the coil against rust and they used those coils to make their catalytic converters.
They are great. I recommend them frequently
Camry Station Wagon. I love them. I need another Camry to the collection, 2003, 2009 V6, and I need something I can haul stuff with.
We had an ‘09 venza and we had to get rid of it. It started having a lot of parts fail and it was very expensive to repair. To be fair it was used. We still got 4 years out of it and we’ve seen someone else still driving it around town (I recognized my rims)
Yeah, a bad model vehicle well maintained is better than a great model that hasn't been!
I bought a 2016 4cilinder about 9 months ago and i couldn't be happier with it. I consider it my best purchase.
The 0-60 is dreadful, but you don't get a hatchback/midsize SUV for the acceleration.
The only thing I'm disappointed about is, how low it is compared to a midsize SUV, and it can be difficult putting kids in the seats.

The V6 is the 2GR-FE that they put in everything during those years and they all will develop the dreaded front timing cover leak. $20 in gaskets and $3500 in labor to REMOVE the engine in order to do the repair. It’s an ‘engine-out’ job on the Sienna, RX, Venza, etc.
The v6 is silky smooth but the 4-cyl might be the safer bet. It would be great if Scotty gave his thoughts on this.
