Be in that moment .... Look at his face... Every human makes mistakes/ Blunders... It's what makes us a human .. afterall we are humans not robots... Cheer up Sam.. that's fine 👍
Wouldn’t that make him… Sam Shockland?
😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🙈
Why Only 1 reply?? This comment is so underrated..
😂😂🔥🔥
Nope. It makes him, Sam Chokeland…
*Angry Like*
Watched it live.. Svidler and Leko's reactions were really funny..
But feel sad for Sam
They were confused. Not really a funny reaction. 😐
Chess is such a brutal game. Moves like these haunt you for a long long time.
Vidit - "Welcome to the club, Sam"
Gukesh - " what about me?"
So sad for Sam. I love his games.
This is just an unforgivable blunder with a 30-second increment. Just love how he writes the move down *after* he moves his king.
-- Disappointed American
An unforgivable blunder is invading Iraq killing hundreds of thousands of people on the pretence that they presented an existential threat to the world. This is a game of chess.
Look at CBI trying to use the appropriate theme music as the video progresses from intense to disheartening! Great job editor.
Chess can be brutal sometimes
With 2:16 on the clock, Sam shouldn't have gone early for a move. 😐
OVERCONFIDENCE
That's called pre move , guess in his mind he was playing online and decided to pre move to draw the match ASAP and it finally came as a shock to realize that this was OTB not online , probably that's what he whispered in his coach ear. Guess that's what happens to Genius players from time to time so no need to worry but thanks for giving entertainment for the audience and this will last for some time but Sam should not let this get to his head else he might crack. So don't worry u r very talented player and many can only dream of getting as good as you.
I think he was trying to get his opponent to run out his clock.
we're humans, we get carried by emotions in some moments, ofc the logical action would be to just wait the move, think, and play the correct response since his opponents has much less time. There is no secret on that. Every player who has played over the board knows how sometimes we act without logic and immediately blunder, we invert move orders of a sequence or anything else really. It's rare but it happens
That's should be absolutely heart breaking..when you loose you game for silly mistakes.. that you regret for long than loosing playing poorly.
That is so brutal. Don't worry Sam, you'll come back stronger.
he will have to forgive himself. that will be tough.
After check king can move to D1 right?
its on b1 so it can go to c1 or a1.If Ka1 then Qb2# if Kc1 then Qb2+ Kd1,Qxb3+ Qxb3,and after axb3 the endgame is just winning for black, hence sam resigned
Please please someone tell me the name of the soundtrack (in the beginning)
Tana ni baro tari na baro
1M views incoming. Content OP.
If us loses medal this shall be the game .I wonder what would be morale of team Sam was fighting all through the game from losing position then lost due to such error
Armenia will consider themselves very lucky
I'm sure Shankland's rating is around 2700... lol ... just shows you how ratings are so inflated now.
That move was so illegal that even the computer refused to record it.
Because computer can't do illegal moves in the first place.
Bro changed the title real quick !😂😂
Wish it didn't end this way...
Why are we still running around with scorecards, writing down moves? The boards can record the moves and give you a PGN print out. It seems so archaic this practice. Belongs in a museum.
All Air Traffic Controllers ( ATCs) use a manual back up system in case the computerized systems fail. Every airplane resorts to manual back-up systems in case the fly-by-wires fail.
@@shreeveda Sagar Shah's successor found (in analogies) 😝
@@shreeveda huge difference. Air traffic control requires redundancy as it can cost lives, here it is just a game.
Yeah, but for ATCs, every second counts, and they still do it. Here, the players have 90 minutes, plus there is timecontrol and increment... writing the move takes like 2s.
They don't write the moves in blitz tournaments, dgt board is enough
@@panda4247 It is not only that, but I see in this tournament, both player's sign, it looks like the team managers might also sign. There is duplicate copies or is it triplicate? They are creating enough paperwork to fill up the hall of records. Totally unnecessary. Today's DGT boards do it all. Some of them have small camera's attached to the board too. Thus, nothing is missed.
If a player got angry as the result of losing a game and ripped up the scorecards (both his and his opponents) I wonder what the sanction would be?
He's the one who beat raunak.... Armenia ka fourth board badiya hai yaar 😞
noone can't tell me now that THERE IS NO LUCK IN CHESS. LUCKY ARMENIAAAAA
So dramatic...... In a good way....... Feeling sad for him
Sam is human after all
Can anyone help me to know, what's the illegal move here ?
moved into check
A very sad situation :(
He said check!
Don't conjure up things from thin air 😅😅
Lol😂
No one says check.. over the rating of 1200
Lol! I don't think any GM says check 😅
If it was Levon
So why do these rules exist ?
Worst mistake in the history of all sports
Confused between queen and king
You have allowed to make 3 illgal moves in chess olympiad??
Sam is trying to bullet the move, with him 2mins on his side...a lot of time to think why touching the piece when your opponent is trying for a move ......it's already a win for America but it turns out to be a 2-2 draw.....America should have take the lead only a draw by Sam will do it ,but mysterious things happens.....
But before that Sam was in completely lost position
no, it was a draw, the remaining pawn for black was going to be traded eventually, not enough material for a victory, you can still lose but at this level, Q+B vs Q is 99.99% a draw, unfortunately he got carried by his emotions before reaching this drawish setup
Why what happened, he touched the king but never hit the clock, so why he had to move king
cuz those are the rules?
If you touch a piece, you have to move that piece
Yup ur right, as he didn't hit the clock he didn't made an illegal but he has to make a king move as per the "touch-move" rule. But in that current position, every "king" move loses, no matter what.
So he resigned.
@@notdarkangelu ok I thought the move will be finalized when we hit the clock , I was never aware of touch move rule
@@rickkykyle9117 So that means you got to know something new today 😉
Well stuff happens... understandable. But to me next BIG a blunder by SAM was resigning immediately & prematurely when there was still some LIFE left in his position!... It was move 90...Both were low on time...Qh2 was played by black AFAIK with 4 secs on clock.. then it was “emotional” transformation of board situation for black when white touched his king...At such time crunch & emotional situations players many times switch off CALCULATION MODE of their brain, (which demands more n more time) and start playing with quick intuition & GUT FEELING MODE to play moves in such situation... Therefore, say after Qg2 Kc1 say seeing low on time, if black decides with “gut feeling” My Bishop is black so no worries about a1 square…I am gonna snap off that white Queen ASAP and say opts for line Qg2 91. Kc1
Qb2+ 92. Kd1 Qxb3+ 93. Kd2 Qxd3+ 94. Kxd3 … there is cold shower and white can say to black “it is again DRAW Mr. Einstein!” as 94… Bb2 95. Kc4 Bxa3 96. Kb5 Bb2 97. Kxa4=
Notice, If black had his king “somehow” on d5,c5,b5,a5 instead of f4 after queen exchange in this line , due to BODYCHECK blacks decision based GUT Feeling would have WORKED! & given him a easy win.
Let’s assume Black is smarter and does not go for queen exchange then still it is time crunch and black has many Queen checks to face.
Come-on SAM why did you resign man?! You got to fight on. Your Opponent is also Human like you and not a chess software. Come-on SAM!!
No chance, after the dust settles the passed pawn on b3 is unstoppable. Trivial win for black. It was the respectful and honorable thing for Sam to resign there.
You do realize that they have a 30 second increment, yeah?
Comment that reveals the posters rating band.
A GM will win black's position 100% of the time even with 10 second increment.
Premove blunder irl
It's just innocent mistake....
wtf usa, thats why we need hikaru in there
He would rather stream( and earn more money) than play on board 4
For Americans, what comes first - Capitalism or patriotism?
Sam though it was a check given to him n he moved his king so quickly , after realising not a check n moved his king back which is illegal n lost the game
Sad to see that
No, it's not moving the king back that is illegal...
He moved the king to an illegal position, but did not press the clock, so he did not complete the move yet. He realized that WOULD BE an illegal move, so he brought it back.
Still OK.
However, as he already touch the king, now he has to make a valid move with the king. Sadly, that move is losing, so he resigned
cinematic
💔
2720 rating ok
why can't Sam just play the illegal move and when the opponent calls it out, the only drawback will be his opponent getting a minute or something, and Sam could've played whatever move he wanted.
He cant play whatever move he wanted. He touched his king ,made illegal move with his king, it means he must move his king and make legal move. Only legal king move is Kc1 and it loses immediately
@@stagna1959 oh ok🙂👍🏻
Well this is not the first time he lost a drawn position
They dropped him for today's match, despite a good record. 🤷
His games haven't been great and he's the lowest rated player in the team.
typical America, makes moves before thinking
This is the reason you shouldn't play online games
