  • Filmed in Britain in 1909 this very old film depicts as you may have guessed from the title a war of airships. This is an example of early Science Fiction at it's best.

    Could you believe that all this was made using CG? Every bit of it was done on a primative, steam powered computer, as big as a SUV. It took months, but, as you can see, it was worth the time. Amazing!!! And the budget was an astronomical, for that time, $75.38.
    It's unfortunate that the producer and director died shortly after its release. This was caused by the the toxic fuel burned to make the steam for the steam powered computer. Not enough ventilation in the cramped studio, which was actually in the basement of the producer's mom's house. She felt terribly guilty about it, but she did get paid $12.18 for renting the basement to her son. She refused to have her name on the credits, she wrote later.
