“Instalove” is obnoxious in most books, but it’s feasible here. The psychological strain of constant fear of capture and/or death, the effects of isolation, the relief they each feel in no longer being the only adult shouldering the burden of survival, their youth/lack of wisdom, the strong likelihood that their lives could still be cut very short... all these factors could easily result in an intense early attachment that could quickly progress. No, it’s not a genuine, stable love at this point, but strong infatuation is absolutely possible. (Though the mushy dialogue just doesn’t work.)

Loved following along your reactions in the video, it was fun! Anyway, I could speak about it for hours, but I'll stop here. 😅 The movie is nice. I found it a bit flat, not as good as the book, but it's worth watching it anyway! Oh and there's a bonus chapter too of when Melanie wakes up without Wanda that exists. Don't know if you had it in your copy of the book, but it's really worth a read! You can find it easily online! 🙂

Oh, I loved The Host, I read it back in high school when a friend of mine said that it's really good and so much better than Twilight (I'd read and watched Twilight under sibling pressure and felt it was okay but not good). My friend gave me a pirated pdf since we couldn't find a copy in the library and I just went into it having NO clue what it was about. I had to reread the first pages several times for it to click, but then I absolutely, utterly loved it! I have no idea how many times I read and I keep crying when she gets taken out and Mel wakes up. I loved the book and I think it's complete as it is, I don't think there needs to be a sequel... The movie was blah, I saw it a couple of times but I missed a lot of the complexity and emotions of the book. There's a great fanfic about the other group of humans and the other Soul who "went native" - it's called Going Native on ff . net :D
Yeeeeees! I was so happy to see this video uploaded! I definitely preferred the Host to the Twilight series. I just loved Wanda as a main character so much more than Bella, and Melanie too! Ian was such a sweetheart and even though Jared was often a douche (perhaps understandably) I can't deny he brought the drama. Have you read the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer btw? I absolutely loved those books when I read them years ago, and I'd love to watch you read them! I might give them a reread myself, I think hearing the name Meyer so often recently reminded me of that series 🤣 Thanks for all these reactions, it's been so entertaining and I look forward to what's next 😁

Liking Crave a lot more than Twilight, even though a lot of people are comparing those two books. I can kind of see where there getting that idea. Even though to me, Crave is already a whole lot better, out of the 2 books. So glad you loved the Host!!!!! Another awesome and fun video!!!!!

The cast of characters was well-done and Wanda and Ian... such a good ship. I also really liked the relationship arc between Wanda and Melanie. I guess the pacing isn't the best, there is not a lot of action and in the end everything wraps up super duper nicely. But I guess we just sometimes deserve a happy end as a reader. 🖤

Also, if you think about it, it's still a love square in a way, with Ian, Wanda, Jared and Melanie 😅
Same, I felt like Mel and Jared story was way too insta love, and I kinda don't care at all about their romance.
Loved following along your reactions in the video, it was fun!
Anyway, I could speak about it for hours, but I'll stop here. 😅
The movie is nice. I found it a bit flat, not as good as the book, but it's worth watching it anyway!
Oh and there's a bonus chapter too of when Melanie wakes up without Wanda that exists. Don't know if you had it in your copy of the book, but it's really worth a read! You can find it easily online! 🙂
Ooh I think that chapter could be in my book coz it says “bonus chapter inside” on the cover! I’ll go read it now!
Hahahaha cracking up at you trying to say the name Jared 😂
I loved hearing your journey through this book, so fun!
Hahaha thank you!
I discovered your channel months ago, I'm from Mallorca. Following you for a while, I've seen all your reading vlogs, you make me laugh so much ! I adore you🌼
Aw thank you so much! 💗
As I can see you read only in mind, silently. I’d love to read this way, but if I do this, I’ll get distracted.
I’ve just finished reading this book and I liked it. It’s not one of my favorite but it was worth reading. Loved Wanda and the way she analyzes human beings. And I love the way you read the book and comment the main parts. It makes me reinforce what I’ve read. You do a great job with your comments. ❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Whenever you laugh at something and then explain why you’re laughing,I literally have to hold the sides of my bed or risk falling off because of my uncontrollable laughter 😂😂😂 these reading sessions that you’re doing are the main thing keeping me sane rn lol that and Juno birch playing sims 🙌🏻 love you loads 💕💕💕💕
Omg 😂😂😂 love that for us 💁🏻♀️ Aw thank you, so glad you’re enjoying them!
Omg I'm so happy you enjoyed it!!!! That was my favourite book as a teenager:pp And you're so cute and funny, I love your content:))
I have not read any other books by Stephenie Meyer than the Twilight series. But I love watching these videos where you read her books :D You should read The chemist!
Thank you!
I feel like your videos are always sooooo good. They really make my day. I really want to read The Host too because I saw some parts of the movie and it looked interesting, so maybe I'll read the book someday
If you do read it lemme know your thoughts!
@@kevinkelly_ okay 😄
Why is it that anytime I watch your vlogs, you always have to make me laugh at the intro. WHY Kevin, WHY.
Btw: 10:55, Either I have a dirty mind, or that look, with the ding in the background, just made the most subtle joke that took me a second to comprehend. I love your humor.
🙊😏
I loved The Host! I’m so glad you enjoyed it too!!! Are you going to read The Chemist? It’s an adult mystery thriller! You should keep riding the Stephanie Meyer train! I’m totally living for it!!!
Haha I’m not sure just yet, I think I’m reading to close the chapter on Stephenie Meyer haha
I might give them a reread myself, I think hearing the name Meyer so often recently reminded me of that series 🤣
Thanks for all these reactions, it's been so entertaining and I look forward to what's next 😁
I haven’t finished that series yet! I’ve read the first 3 and I recently got Winter so I’ll be reading it soon! 🙊 Thank you so much for watching!
I'd honestly forgotten that "The Host" existed before you uploaded this video. I loved this video though. Thanks for making it :)
Thank you!
I loved Ian so much when I was reading this!
He’s so adorable 🙊💗
Sorry to have commented so late😪. Just love your videos. After watching this video I really wanna read the host asap becoz I kept delaying reading it.
I hope you upload another video soon. Really missing the amazing content😍😍
Omg read the host!! I'll have a new video soon!
@@kevinkelly_ anxiously waiting for it😍🤗
I went to a book store and didn't know what "The Host" is so I watched this video thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts and options! 💖
A LOVEEE that’s you read this 🥳🥳
I can’t wait for you to get to the end part 😂😂😂 .....
YESSSSS SO glad you enjoyed it!
So much better than Twilight 😍
I love that you loved this book!! I read it back in middle school and I remember liking it more than twilight even tho i was a huge stan in 2009 ahahaha
I haven't read the host but I tried the movie and couldn't get into it. I am currently reading Twilight as well as another vampire book called Crave.
Ooh haven’t heard of Crave, must look it up!!
@@kevinkelly_ if you get it will you please do a reading Vlog on it!!!!!!!! I just finished and really loved it. It was like a 4.5 star read but I rounded it up to a 5 star!!! Still reading Twilight but should be done reading it tomorrow. Probably going to be a 3 maybe 3.5 star read.
I'm SO pleased you enjoyed it! Literally felt like I was reliving my reading of it through you for the first time 😂
Also apparently there was meant to be a sequel to this one called The Seeker (no guesses there of what that's meant to be about...) but nothing came of it
I wish we had of gotten the sequels! It was meant to be a trilogy 😭
@@kevinkelly_ is Meyer not writing one now? Or is that the whole "let's rewrite twilight but make it sparkly and probably very sexist and wrong on all levels and say its Edwards perspective?"
FOund you from Myonna Reads and.......SUBSCRIBED! I love your energy..stay magical,love :)
Thank you so much for checking out my channel 💗
I am so happy you enjoyed the book. Your videos are just iconic.
The book surely isn't perfect but I still love it. I just found everything about the aliens and other planets so interesting.
Ye I was fascinated by the aliens and other planets too! Ye the pacing could have been bette but still overall really enjoyed!
Yes, Cosmo and Wanda OMG what a ship!
Ugh love them 🤧💗
@@kevinkelly_ Will rewatch for the rest of my life
I loved this so much. I haven't read it, but it sounds really interesting. Are you planning on doing this style of a reading vlog with another series, or another author, or something?
I am indeed 😏 you’ll have to wait and see what that series is though!
Ooo mysterious👀😂 I’m so excited
"yes, she's a multilingual queen, we stan" I LAUGHED SO HARD
your laugh! makes me so happy!
💗💗💗
We love you! You are so damn funny, I am absolutely loving all of your videos 💛
Excited to hear what you think of the movie.
Hopefully I can find it online!
This notification popped up at the perfect time, I honestly love you reading semi trashy ya books 😂.
Aw thank you 😂💗
I love that you loved the book, its a favorite of mine that i keep forgetting, but the video made me want to read it again 😍. I would love to see what you think about the movie.
Omg reread it!
Please could you try reading The Song of Achilles?? Love your channel btw 😊
I need to read that so badly!!!
Your Jared bit is cracking me up hard... core!!! Omg.... I'm gonna pee!
😂😂😂
i started shaking laughing when you said shining shimmering splendid 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
HECK YES!! Been looking forward to this!
Edit:
I also had some hard time to understand my first time reading the book. But now, I welcome it all when I rereading.
And I'm so Wanda overall... I relate so much!
Ye it took a bit for it to click for me!
I can guess XD
If I remember right, I reread it as soon as read it the first time, just in case I missed something and all. As it took a bit to understand the concept. ^^
every day i wake up and wonder how the same person wrote this masterpiece AND twilight like- it doesn’t add up
