Laughing how the US soccer media think they are going to take Weigman from England. Firstly England has the richest FA in the world, so whatever the USA can offer her, England can double it. England is at the start of their domination and have plenty of room to get better. The USA are at the end of their cycle and will only get worse in the coming years where the professionalism in Europe will expose the massive weaknesses in the collegiate system. There are even rumours she my might take over from Southgate for men’s team, so you can forget about Sarina and USwnt who don’t even produce the type of players who can play her style.

Literally and the US has the 45th richest federation in the world. The US has $96.38 million. England has $1.21 billion. And they put out a statement of backing to the media stating that any attempts for US football for Serena will be rejected. And if it’s about money it is no object for us we will pay her everything she wants and more 😂

The thing is the USA needs to be realistic, they want a coach to come in within the next year and make them olympic gold medalist. Their so keen to keep this dominance that they have had for so long, that they know need to realise their going have to go through cycles just like every other country does.
If a coach comes in within the next year and doesn't deliver I feel like its going be an endless cycle of managers for this team.
I think the USA needs a coach that can make those difficult decisions from cutting past players from the line up but giving confidence to the next generation. For example Alana cook didn't play anything in this World cup, as she is the next generation, she doesn't have that experience of playing in a world cup match - don't see how that inspires confidence. @@rosiegiesler4705

I think England will win the World Cup and Weigman is an amazing coach but to negate colleges in the US, reminder that Weigman and Russo are UNC Tar Heels. They trained and learned their grit here. Our college sports system is still far superior from a foundational standpoint to that of Europe’s which is fractured and doesn’t have the culture we do. • @marshallsdocumentariesandr6439

So hire a new coach and problem solved? You are missing the point here. National and club teams outside the US are far better at 'football', sounds obvious, but they are technically better. It is also the only sport they grew up playing. US players often start out as multi sport athletes. Many countries have facilities, staff and financial backing to rival the US. Hence players have caught up in terms of athleticism and physicality.
Only two of the US women's team play outside the US. More of their players, Sophia Smith, Trinity Rodman etc should test themselves in European leagues and really round out their huge potential. This would take time of course. But just hiring a new coach is a small solution for a much bigger problem.
Plus you can't have Sarina. We are building a statue of her outside Wembley stadium. Emma Hayes won't go anywhere until she wins the Champions League with her beloved Chelsea and even then I doubt she would move her young son away from his family in London.

@@unknownnamerealpicture I didn't say the USWNT needs to hire Pep Guardiola specifically. I said they may need to hire someone LIKE him to rally them up. It's just one example. I could have used Arsène Wenger, Johan Cruyff, Mourinho, or any coaches who have or had had a successful coaching career. Jill Ellis is a great choice too, unless she wants to return.
The performance of the USWNT in the world cup was subpar. That's it. They can play better than that; they just got stuck and couldn't adapt, and it certainly didn't help that the coach couldn't readjust.
Hopefully, we'll get back to this exchange in 4 years, and we'll see.

No one is talking about Kate Markgraf behind the scenes who was pulling Vlatko's strings. Isn't she equally responsible as his boss? She was partially responsible for choosing players and making decisions behind the scenes. Why? She's not a coach. She took her position in 2019 AFTER the World Cup win and hired Vlatko. She got it all wrong (and has been for so long). The program started going down under her and Vlatko. If she is the ambassador to tie youth into professional US Soccer, didn't she fail in her role? The program needs to run cohesively. She should not be the ghost voice behind the coach. Her role should be continuity in making in making sure all the leagues from youth and higher are playing teams at the highest level and providing funding and opportunities to make that happen. I don't think Vlatko is the only fall guy behind the US's failure this round. Look at her predictions from 2019 (enough said, she needs to go): ua-cam.com/video/JtPZUjuLI-8/v-deo.html

The U20 level and below is under performing because of how much it costs to play youth soccer in the US, we are paying over 2K for our daughter and that's at the premier level. That cost does not include any ID Camps attended. European countries you pay a minimal fee (a few hundred) and everything else is included. And you can't say that's because soccer is becoming more and more popular in the US because all our youth sports cost a lot of money, AAU, Football, Little League, etc.

It’s interesting to see the difference in football culture at play here. In a lot of traditional football countries, people would have been burning effigies of him, and the press would have been relentlessly roasting him, until he handed in his resignation. (Look up what happened to David Beckham after a game-changing red card in the 1998 World Cup for reference). US commentators are very polite and deferential in comparison, contrary to the American stereotype perhaps? But I prefer it. These are real people, and football is just a game after all.

    • @myfasmarine
      @myfasmarine Рік тому +1

That's largely due to America not having an ingrained football culture. Most of the country doesn't pay attention until World Cup time. Even though our domestic leagues have improved in the attendance department there still lacks a lot of interest in TV ratings and following the leagues themselves. Many just watch their own club play and maybe playoffs.
But to go deeper I think a big reason is the lack of promotion and relegation in our domestic leagues. Without it our domestic fans lack the same sense of passion in footballing countries. The closed system with playoffs creates more of a family-friendly environment than the war-like environment experienced in countries with open systems.

Pro/rel is a bit over rated and is the reason why every pro soccer league in the world has so much imbalance with each league only consisting of duopolies (while the EPL has only a whopping 4 competitive teams?👎🏻). the pro leagues in Europe and Latin America do NOT have any playoffs.
The intensity factor has more to do with the social fabric in Europe and Latin America being interwoven with society and its socioeconomics. This is what I’ve observed having lived many years in England and Argentina, 2 soccer crazed obsessed countries.
All pro leagues in the USA are indeed closed, but the playoffs are a form of mini pro/rel in that the winners go on to reap the glory and financial rewards, while the teams that don’t make the playoffs lose out, but don’t get the near death penalty of a relegated team. I for one love to see the season turnarounds of US pro teams make from good to bad or bad to good, plus I love the fact that any team can beat anyone at any given time.
