@@MrRyanroberson1 @Ryan Roberson power doesn't scale that way. Chips with the power to emulate PS2 are more in the few hundred dollar range, talking about the snapdragon 800+ series, flagship smartphone level stuff. I've been hoping for a device like this ever since its first iteration 3 years ago. The Pocket Sprite came close, but it is far too limited in its hardware.
Psp uses analog nub for l2 & r2. Either they have a weird button combination for this one or they’re counting on you to only play games that don’t use those buttons lol
That is a beautiful front-end on that thing. It works wonderfully for the miniature screen resolution and it appears to be very snappy and responsive as well. I wish my Gameboy Zero looked and worked that well.
I wonder if there is enough room in the hinge to include a headphone jack. Only way I can think to include one. Still want one regardless, just putting that idea out there.
Imagine having mini HDMI port and bluetooth support for multiple controllers and headphones/earbuds in that thing. I mean it's already amazing as it is, but that'd be next level.
This is why retro handhelds are best using ARM chips. It's too bad the screen is square. They could have gone with a 4:3 screen, in my opinion. Still, not bad.
@@silversonic1 Sure, I guess i've just been frustrated by wanting to buy a modern emulator handheld specifically to play GameBoy and they're all 4:3. I was like, finally a square one!
Very impressive PS1 emulation for such a little device. It'd been fine enough with 8 and 16 bit console games compatibility, but this thing demonstrates how little things can get great achievements. 👍
I have to be honest about the Funkey S. I like the concept of this thing like 75%. I just don't want a screen that small and battery life of only an hour. If you gonna make it compact, at least make the screen size 2 inches like the GBA micro. Though, I would prefer a screen size of 4 inches.
I’ve owned a PocketSprite for a couple months now, and I have small hands so it actually works out for me. The text is sometimes hard to read though. If it did have those things I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Oh well.
There's some improvements to be made, but it is only a prototype, but I was shocked that it could competently play PlayStation on such a small device, def looking forward to the final product

Interesting design, but could they do something about the bezels? Is there an engineering reason for it to not use all of that space? Also, why use a Sony style dpad? A cross shaped dpad would be better suited to older titles imo. Any chance of an aluminum milled frame? USB C would be a huge quality of life upgrade, and bluetooth or at least a headphone jack would be very useful. Bluetooth especially would be useful since you're restricted to a very limited selection of ps1 titles without a full control scheme. Being able to use a 8bitdo controller or the like would open up a lot more options, not to mention bluetooth headphones. I might be overthinking this though. Great product, great video, subscribed. Thanks.
I wish more emulation based gba style handhelds had a clamshell design. I love the normal gba/psp style, but I don’t see enough sp styled ones that are great :0
Looks awesome! In my opinion maybe a 320x240 4:3 aspect LCD would work better, matches the intended display ratio for many consoles that way, and would have less bezels on the left and right edges.
