I wedge right to the apex of the ankle such as your DF/PF cuts. But for the heel/hindfoot, I cut above the ankle and move the tibia over to align the heel. It works but makes me wonder If this is a better method to make corrections. I also like the heel being a slight bit anterior of the calf to achieve the 90 neutral. Very helpful there. I just wish we received better negatives to work with.
To get full correction sometimes you need to put a lot of pressure on the foot and it can significantly distort the model. I prefer a smooth, mostly corrected cast that I can easily correct either on the positive or negative model. I hope that makes sense, it does to me.
