Reverb in the FX Loop vs Plugin Reverb after the IR / Mic

  • I definitely prefer the sound of the reverb in the loop, even at the risk of clipping the input of the GX.
    As far as I can tell the input section of the GX700 is analog so it doesn't get too nasty when you push it.
    The 'Studio' series Marshall amps don't have a post-phase-inverter master volume, which means the master on the SC20 is before the effects loop, so when you turn it up the loop gets a pretty hot signal. I imagine this is somewhat intentional by Marshall, as if they used dual-gang PPIMV they would get tons of customer complaints about their time-based
    effects clipping in the loop.
