Handel is the stronghold of my soul 💮🌸
The overture is perfection 😍
Очень глубокое произведение, затрагивает все нити души, есть над чем подумать, а думать есть над чем. О смысле жизни. О времени, смерти и вечной жизни.

My favorite recording features Justino Diaz in the title role. In addition to his beautiful bass voice and tone, he really gets the character right. I recall hearing him in the role of the High Priest from Samson and Delilah at the Washington Opera some yrs ago.
@1:00:56 is part of what wakes me up in the mornings. ...let the loud Hosannas rise, widely spreading through the skies! From then onwards, God alone is just and wise. Glory to God alone.
Tudo perfeito, merci.
Justino Diaz..Solomon's definitive voice. I recal his absolute artistry at the Washington Opera in performances of the High Priest from Samson and Delila with Ms. Graves and Mr Domigo performing Samson on the alternate nights when he wasn't conducting the opera.
I tell you, this oratorio is awesome, indeed P.H. Lang, Handel's biographer rates this work as one of the composers best. Very anointed....jn
Brilliant video. it was very kind of you to load this video.
Excellent work, as is all of his works ,just how can you have a favourite ,then when you listen to Bach and his great Choral works all inspired from the master of all creation .
Why do you write about Bach in this work by HANDEL? I think the best choral and vocal composer of all time is Handel, because in addition to the brilliant harmony and counterpoint he has a lot of drama. Bach lacks drama, he never composed an opera. You must be a religious fanatic, just like Bach.

My favorite choruses are all in this oratorio Solomon by George Frideric Handel. (1748)
No. 2. Chorus of Priests: Your harps and cymbals sound 06:31, No. 5. Chorus: May no rush intruder distrurb their soft hours 19:05, No. 6. Chorus: From the censer curling rise 22:40, No. 11. Chorus: From the east unto the west 48:20 and 14. Chorus: Praise the lord with harp and tongue! 58:38
Sure...great oratorio. I love it as well
Kinondoni Main Choir performed this...Chorus: From the censer curling rise 22:40
From the east unto the west 48:20
Using much incense at High Mass in the Roman Patheon I received the nickname,"John the Incenser"from the other canons. The anthem then:" From the Curling Censer Rise "!
51:35 's part in the song is my favorite.
I couldn't suppress a grunt of admiration when I saw this picture .
And I let out an exclamation of admiration when I listened to this specutacular performance .

19:20. Achingly exquisite 🌷
The music is great. Concerning the performance I like Gardiner as one of three as the best but that is just my personal taste.
Too good ❤
Wonderful
Very nice! very dramatic music, I appreciate the index as well!
A couple complained about the singer used in one of the arias not being good enough for them, guess they missed the part where the uploader didn't select singers, and they missed the other important part- the one where listening to the video here was FREE, so they can't complain- because they didn't pay a dime for it. When people BUY an album and actually pay for it, they can complain all they like and even demand a refund.
51:35 The arrival of the queen of Sheba.
Magnificent !!

Handel holds an unchallenged position as an interpreter of the Old Testament
Sorry, but in 2018 I simply can't stomach a Solomon who sings the role an octave down! Perhaps not as horrible as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau as Giulio Cesare, but not much more tolerable. Handel wrote the role for a female alto, and when you have a Carolyn Watkinson (Gardiner) or a Sarah Connolly (Reuss) it all makes sense: the duets and trio in particular sound right. I'm not so keen on countertenors in this particular role, but several have recorded it with success, notably Andreas Scholl (McCreesh). When Handel wrote a leading part for baritone - such as Hercules or Saul - the writing is very different, both for the voice and the orchestra. Thank you.
Oh, I thought I was the only one who felt this way. After listening to altos do it, a bass Solomon doesn't sound as dramatic to me, especially in a song like 'Thus rolling surges rise!' Oh well, we still enjoy.
Somebody missed the part where the whole video is FREE, you got what you paid for.
