Careful and read the same side of the scale on your clinometer each time , because they are often built with degrees on one side and percent slope on the other . This tends to happen most often in the absolute WORST stretch of miserable passageway , hours from the closest entrance , when everybody is pretty much over the project , and , nobody wants to bother with doing back sights on each station , so it isn't caught immediately .
Been there , done that , left the T-shirt with instructions on where to place it ...

That's a much better idea to test the drill cuttings versus hauling out bulky heavy samples in a backpack. Nice work Chad.

I had the unfortunate encounter with a Mohave green the other night just as I was about to climb my ladder down into the mine. As I opened the trap door I have over my ladder way I heard that distinctive shhhhhhhhhhh and I KNEW there was a rattler not too far down there somewhere so I turned my helmet light on high intensity so I could possibly see where he was. It didn’t sound like he was around where my trapdoor is nor where my first and second ladder or even third ladder down was. So I ended up inching my way down with a machete then about the fifth ladder down which is about 50 or so feet (I make my ladders 10 feet max so I can handle them when putting them in by myself) and there he was wrapped around one of the side rungs. Luckily I was able to hear that rattle from how far down he was. I would’ve gotten hit QUICKLIKE! 😮
However a couple of days before that I was out doing stuff out around the outside of my mine and when I went into the mine to grab a break and hit up on some water I seen my dog standing there over the mine shaft boards that I have the shaft covered with and his paw bleeding like hell and just looking nasty. I suspect he was snake bit but luckily I had my dog vaccines for snakebites not long ago and I think that’s what saved his life. He still has a good size area of skin that looks like it was eaten away but the last couple days he’s been up and walking on it and eating and drinking plenty of water so it looks like he just may be ok. I don’t think the snake(if it was) give my dog a full dose of venom ORRR my dog kicked his leg back from the snake to where it ripped the skin but wasn’t able to give him a decent venom dose…..(thankfully).

I'm so happy to hear your dog is ok Dawna. I was be lowered down a vertical mine that I own, when at the 70' level, just before I was ready to step off, there was a rattle snake. I was hanging by rope and had to use our snake grabbers to get it. We've had a number of encounters. They are so hard to see underground. I had 4 in one of my mines and Harry had 4 as well. Keep a careful eye out and be safe out there!

@@mineoperator u too! We really need ur channel! You guys do the real deal and that’s respected. I’ll say why. I have nothing at all against mine explorers but the ones that say their miners don’t hit me too well because they don’t do actual mining, just exploring. Whereas I know you guys also do exploring but you also do actual mining which is a complete different perspective on mine exploring.
And thanks about my dog. He was up and walking on it quite a bit today. He’s drinking lots of water and eating and the bite looks reddish like it could be in the heal process.

For my money I like the surface sample A LOT! Why, a fella could save on all the expensive climbing gear, oxygen sensor, severe masks, etc, plus the danger and discomfort and just work the surface vein out in the comfort of a desert evening and pull .25-.5 oz. a day with a truck-back crusher and recirculating sluice box.

I know you and Jason are staying busy, but perhaps theres a few minutes to discuss with him how to find someone in his area who can do the job....

The second, easy-accessible sample looks very promising 💛✨
The mine itself looks unsafe, though. Maybe it's because of the deteriorating woodwork.
How much profit did the (former) owner haul out of this mine considering these gigantic piles of waste?

The jaw crusher was down for a few months. We got it operating again but had issues running volume, especially without heavy equipment. The solution, the clarifying tank helps us salvage water and handle our tailings and silts way better than before. 1 ton is easy, but 4-10 tons is a different beast. We are back out there again and will report in soon! Their fixes are still going strong. Our season just started.
