    Just a thought. Could you fabricate something in the off season that would clamp before collar of the drill steel and then wack that with the hammer to drive the stuck steel from the hole. As well as maybe hook up water to the drill steel to keep flushing the cuttings out of the hole, assuming the end isn't plugged. Got a feeling you may have more of that as you get closer to the fault. Definitely looked like a tough time! Definitely a learning couple of days haha

    I remember that day. The only problem is that you said it was from a pause in drilling and blasting.... I think the real reason is you two were just exhausted and didn't want to deal with another pile of ore to muck! 🧐🤔🫣😉😂 Great excuses are invented in great minds! 🤔😎 At least it is my excuse all the time! 🙄🤣🤣 Blessings from Alabama ❤️

    I had to ask my dumb phone: what is ANFO used in mining? It gave me a Smart answer: Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil Explosive and is a mixture of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil. They could call it Timothy McVeigh. It's Properties: ANFO is not cap sensitive, but it is not water resistant and dissolves easily in water. So, my question is how can you pump this mixture into a wet hole? Lawn fertilizer mixed with diesel fuel; the definition also says it's less expensive than other explosives. Is purchasing this product only available to those who have a blasting license?

    • @mineoperator
      @mineoperator 3 дні тому

      @scuss2 Yes, you will need a blasting license which would include an ATF inspection approving the magazines being used to store high explosives. Then regular inventory reporting.

    • @scuss2
      @scuss2 3 дні тому

      @@mineoperator So, you might say someone needs a college education to be able to pass the tests? Well, could be a good thing that you won't have to renew your license as the new $hit show administration will deregulate everything.

    • @mineoperator
      @mineoperator 3 дні тому

      We use compressed air to clean out holes, and air to shoot ANFO prill into drill holes. Wet holes get stick powder another version of explosives that is not soluble in water. Check your local and state regulations. You can apply for a license following ATF requirements.

    Harry, it is so important as you show to wash down after blasting. Even though we do not blast, we always use Dexpan. You have to wash down afterward to see the true representation of the remaining rock. I have encountered many young rock busters who just continue drilling holes with dirt. dust, and debris on the rockface still, and they are just drilling blind (and wasting the way too expensive, Dexpan, lol!). 🙂

    Have you ever set off a round with a stuck steel,I'm sure it's not good if you do?

    • @Porty1119
      @Porty1119 4 дні тому

      Yeah, it bends the steel and usually trashes it. We've only had to do it once at the mine we're working; typically I can unstick them and our ground is more consistent than what MO and Jason have.

    I never really thought about how the blasts move the air. Your orange mesh starts bowing out from the air movement. It's like a big speaker next to a candle: the flame goes out as if someone blew on it. Amazing how a few small 'sticks' and a 9 volt does all that damage! One of these days, you and Jason may find a huge, solid, chunk of gold! Dream on! Blessings from Alabama ❤️

  • @sixtoes2313

    Harry. Thanks for the Video's...Question. TNT and ANFO. Whats the regs on transporting and storing ? Can you leave it in the bed of the truck while drilling or do you have to keep it in (eye)site or locked up ?

    • @mineoperator
      @mineoperator 4 дні тому

      ANFO stays in Magazine, then when ready to load transported in a day box to mine. Caps boosters are transported separately. We do not leave anything in truck bed. In other words, never unattended.

      Statistics, damn statistics. It could work, one easer, but you’d need to be super accurate. Too difficult underground, too many variables. Need to create a big hole in the middle to strip into asap, to increase odds of success, otherwise holes will ball up & crater and damage walls and roof.
