Really enjoyed the Prey movie , for having such a low budget it was done really well, hopefully the next film will use a bit less cgi and more practical effects
Everybody seemed to like it. I thought it was... okay. Hated the Predator's redesign, mostly because it made no sense. At least not according to the movie's producers/creator. I could be wrong, but it's my understanding that the redesign was supposed to represent an evolutionary change...? That much change... in like, 300 years? If that assessment is correct, then it's just foolish on its face.

@@nlmarkas It wasn't due to evolutionary changes between the same group of Yautja. The Prey Yautja is from a different location on the Predator homeworld which we've never seen before, living in a different environment, it obviously evolved differently. Just like how people all around the world have different appearances based on their lineage.

+1 for display stands, especially flight stands. I really like heavy duty 1/6 scale figure stands (like those used for Hot Toys figures). They work great with larger Neca figures. I have one holding up my Neca Goliath figure in a flight pose up high on a shelf. Talk about shelf presence.
I always found it weird how when Hot toys and even here with the battle damaged predalien they still have the inner jaw. Cuz in the movie the predator at this point ripped the predaliens inner jaw right out before jabbing its wristblades into its head giving it the scars u see on the figure. But i guess it would be weird to not have an alien figure with its inner jaw. Would have been cool if they had an accessory of the inner jaw but torn off separate from the one in its mouth so maybe another figure can hold it as if they tore it right out.
It does just look a Predator head plopped on an alien body. Weird and a missed opportunity. I use ‘em sparingly in photography and much prefer hanging figures with fishing wire as it creates a much cleaner photo that’s easier to edit. I use fishing wire in my displays too.
I prefer display stands if they plug into the back im not a fan of the claw type. I only really use them if the character can fly/ if the figure cant stand very well. Its more fun trying to get a figure to balance in a cool pose too
I mostly collect TBS so yes I spend extra money on stands. The figures that have come out in the past couple of years stand fairly well by themselves. The other brands I collect here and there are about 50/50. I wish HIYA did 1/12 scale I love the figs I have from them.
I use the drop-down hinge for posing in like a sideways uppercut slash type thing where one leg needs be longer to accommodate for side/upward action movement and in my opinion it is frequently very useful in battle oriented scenes. Although I see your point. Great review as always, thanks \;;/
The only time I use display stands is when the figures are more "premium" like Hot Toys or ThreeZero. For smaller figures I never use them. Even for effect piece stands that Bandi gives' us, I try to Macgyver some way to not use them.
I’m pretty excited for the Necas Shaman Predator and ultimate warrior Predator, I like a few of the Hiya figures, I have the Predator dogs and trying to get the cloaked Predators w the blue tint. I saw on Necas Instagram that the Prey figure is getting final touches and we will see it soon
AVP and AVPR are not terrible I would still consider them good as they were my introduction to the franchise and the reason why I like these movies so much. And unlike the 2018 film they kept in continuity with movies that came before it and was not trying retcon anything

The Predalien wasn't meant to be mainly Predator based, but rather Alien based. It was originally 80% Alien and 20% Predator, until a 14 year old saw the maquette of the hybrid abomination and said "Wow! Cool Alien!" which led to the addition of heat shaped molds of the tiny Alien's tail from Alien³ as dreadlocks, and a more Predator like look.
I try to avoid figures that need stands. Otherwise I'd just get statues instead. I rely on reviews to show me how well the figure can stand. Like this one. I used to like the predalien design in the movie but in figure form it looks kinda bad. The predalien was designed to be seen in quick cuts and dim settings, so seeing it in broad daylight is very unflattering.

Tbh I do actually use display stands if a figure comes with it. I know you absolutely hate the McFarland black disk, but personally I actually like it because I’m able to achieve for example a one leg running pose with a Flash figure that I could not otherwise achieve without it. It looks sweet in the display so I’ll take a stand if offered. (But I do find it entertaining how much you hate them) haha great review Anthony!

i rarely use display stands, it usually depends on the figure or if i want them to be on air pose
I use them for flight poses or high jump poses but other than that I try not to for on ground poses.

NECA 100% doing an ultimate figure of this in 2023, they already confirmed wolf pred. Wouldn’t shock me if they did the alien warrior from AVPR too
