Welcome. Today I will be explaining the lyrics to The Weeknd’s song “Starboy”. It’s a very catchy song. I’ve haven’t seen anything so catchy since Pamela Anderson got Hepatitis C. Now let’s get started.

So what is a starboy? Well OBVIOUSLY it’s Patrick Star, Spongebob’s starfish best friend. Just like The Weeknd, he’s a motherf*ckin star. Literally.
But more generally, and according to urban dictionary, a “starboy” is defined as a Jamaican term for a man who likes having more than one woman. The Weeknd certainly fits this description because a little later on he says this.

Here, he talks about having another car and that his pockets are full of cash. Of course they are. He’s The Weekend. He’s a starboy. He’s rich and he loves to party. Seriously, if he didn’t like to party his name would be The Weekday. Could you imagine? No one would listen to his music. You’d be like hey did you hear The Weekday’s new song? It’s called go to sleep early.

Legend of the fall took the year like a bandit
He continues this whole fall thing with a reference to Brad Pitt who was the STAR of The Legends of the Fall. He says that he took the year like a bandit. Now The Weekend probably didn’t realize that a Brad Pitt reference would mean that the only people making out like a bandit are the divorce lawyers. Hey Jennifer.

Girls get loose when they hear this song
Finally, the Weekend ends the song with another car reference. This time it’s the Rolls Royce Wraith as he makes a play on words with the Star Trek movie the Wrath of Khan. Total Starboy.

If you follow these songs in EXACT sequence you will know: "can't feel my face" "Go tell your friends" and lastly "The hills" it's all about himself trying to escape from the Devil. He wishes to destroy his old self in order to flee from the Devil. Know in Star boy at the begging he strangled his old self look at his new look and album now. He has a haircut. He's a changed man. He seeked God. All those hard earned records and awards he got. He destroyed with the cross he saw on his wall. 👍🏾 hoped that clarified enough. His story is truly sad but very significant

In Trinidadian slang though it means "a male who likes to 'make style' (to show off); a male who is cool" It sounds closer to that than the Jamaican term.

Ok, so what is the deal with the (cat turning into a panther) the (red cross he's destroyed stuff with) and the eye with the reflection of the red cross? I don't really belive alot of God/devil shit but when you brake stuff with a cross that's red and have a panther with glowing eyes hanging around you and talking about doing 100 in your P1 getting close to "God" it seems to me that he made a deal to have fame and fortune and he's always got this (Cat) demon with him until he dies. so to brake the deal he brakes all the stuff in his house...and when he suffocated himself in the beginning it's almost like he killed the old him and is depressed with how he is so he's killing his pain with pills and coke, switching lanes as in lines of coke and switching cups like popping pills to kill his pain right? idk like I said I'm not much for illuminate type talk but it's just Strang to have these types of feelings in songs and music videos. also starboy to me could mean the fallen star the one cast from heaven, I come alive in the fall ( when you sell yourself to him you come alive In your fall from heaven) with fame and fortune. my thoughts lol

Star childern have unique talents to change themself to whaterever they want to achive their dreams. "Switch up my cup i kill any pain" star child reference, and that he kills the old him. Most star childen know how to kill the old you and make themself into a better versions of themself. The cross? Star children know the power comes from within themself. NOT god.
