as an southeast asian boy who grow up with the journey to the west and loads of wukong movies i personally think this game is worth the hype after those years
For real. When I was a kid, I used to watch an anime called "Space-Keteers", a science fiction retelling where Son-Goku/Sun-Wukong was a cyborg with a staff that could shoot plasma, then there's Dragon Ball, which up until now was the most popular retelling. And then along this comes & blows everyone else out the ring
@@Gokenshiba The monk is greedy and obsessed with collecting cassocks. When Wukong and Sanzang pass by his temple and stay the night, the monk becomes envious of Sanzang’s cassock. He plots to steal it by setting fire to their lodging, hoping to choke Sanzang. However, Wukong detects the scheme and changed the wind direction making the monk self-immolation.
Just wanted to add some of the backstory and lore to people who may not be familiar with it. In the original Journey to the West story, Xuanzang (the monk who was tasked with the journey) arrived at the Buddhist temple overseen by Elder Jinchi, which is the setting within the game Guanyin Temple. On the face of it, Elder Jinchi is like any other Buddhist monk, but he has a hobby of collecting kasayas (this is alluded to in the ending cutscene where Elder Jinchi makes countless kasaya fly in the air). The kasaya that Xuanzang has is special, and due to greed, Elder Jinchi plots a way of stealing it. He decides that, at night, he will tell two of the monks under his tutelage (Guangzhi and Guangmo, two of the mini-bosses) to set the Guanyin temple on fire so that he can escape with Xuanzang's kasaya during the chaos. This is probably why there is a strong fire influence in the final boss scene. Elder Jinchi escapes with the kasaya to Black Wind Mountain as an offering to the Black Wind King. Brad noted that the Black Wind King and the final Black Bear boss had similar attacks, and the reason is because the Black Wind King (human-looking boss) is the human representation of the Black Bear (the real form). In the original story, the Black Wind King had two "martial brother" (not exactly the term I would use, but closest that I can think of), which is Lingxuzi and the Whiteclad Noble in the game. The Great Sage (WuKong, Goku, Monkey King) was able to defeat the Black Bear Guai, and retrieve the kasaya. The Black Bear Guai, after being defeated, was taken in by the Bodhisattva GuanYin (the person the Black Bear calls master in the cartoon - note: Master in this context is seen as Master - Apprentice, where Master doesn't denote masculinity, but rather, teacher). there's obviously more to the story, but this is as brief as I can make it.
I noticed in this game if you finally can find a good grasp on the enemy's and your character's movements (which is not that easy ofc) the battles looks really really beautiful and satisfying.

Love your channel, been watching since the OG Alan Wake, even Dead Space. I have NON-SPOILER tips if you want them, but of course go in blind if that's how you want to play! These are just things that I don't think the game necessarily tells you very effectively so they're here if you want 'em: Tips: - You can spend Sparks to unlock skills at ANY TIME, you only need to use the Shrines if you want to re-spec your skills. - The area with the big blue-headed guy (Wandering Wight) has more things for you to find, and you *REALLY* want to find them. That's all I'll say :) - Lots of skills, menu trees, Shrine options, even vendors, unlock as you progress the story. Just be patient and new features will reveal themselves! - Finally, after moving to another Chapter, you *CAN* still go back to previous areas and do stuff you might have missed. You can always go backwards :) - There are things (being vague to avoid spoilers) you can do in Chapter 2 area that will better prepare you for the final boss, but you have to really look EVERYWHERE, even re-look at certain areas. Just make 100% sure to do and find everything in the area so that you'll have a slightly easier time. I learned this only after getting my butt whooped repeatedly lol.

Try it, promise you'll love that novel.
Watching your videos was the reason I bought this game and it was worth every penny. I don't even really understand the story but the boss battles are on a whole new level and right around every corner. If you like epic boss battles and all of them very different encounters check this game out. It's a trip.

The instrument he plays isnt to far off to what i play ( tsugaru shamisen ) its a tree strings instrument with no frets. And three tuning pegs. But instead of it having a very small drum like base it has a bigger wider one. Very beautiful instrument. Made me happy to hear that haha

The instrument he plays isnt to far off to what i play ( tsugaru shamisen ) its a tree strings instrument with no frets. And three tuning pegs. But instead of it having a very small drum like base it has a bigger wider one. Very beautiful instrument. Made me happy to hear that haha
