You’re telling me that Lane Kim agreed to marry the guy who 1) never made an effort for her 2) ruined their band’s chance to impress a record label because of an incredibly petty fight 3) proposed to her with a pawned Super Bowl-looking ring after not speaking to each other for weeks. Unforgivable.
Doesn't Zack kinda remind anyone of Todd? The guy she very much did NOT want to be with after talking with him for a couple of hours? Not really much common interests and they don't use their brain much :/
true, zack's character should've had stayed that way, he was fun at the beginning and really enjoyed him, but I really did see lane and brian working really well, I really see them having such funny moments together and building the attraction and relationship would've been so interesting.
They are still in contact after he leaves for California (to go to college), because they have this "big argument" on the phone some time later, about the jug that Mrs. Kim wants to send Dave (misinterpreted by Lane as the "marriage jug"), but that is the last time we hear of him and there is never any mention of the breakup, which is very odd and doesn't feel natural.
bro i hadnt even realized that they broke up until lane started having a crush on zack i was like “wait isnt she dating dave?” but they hadnt been dating for like a year show wise already and i didnt even notice
Aw yeah it was just like out of nowhere they stopped talking about him and then it was like “tada it’s Zack now!” I felt the same way the first time I saw it!
Zack previously hitting on Lore didn't bother me that much. I took it as the young guy who hits on everybody trope. What bothered me was Zack never seemed to really grow up/ grow into his own character. Ok he went from being a player to being monogamous and in the reboot he had a regular job but, that was it. I know most bands don't make it big, but he went on tour with another band in Season 7. Why couldn't he have been a touring back -up artist/session musician? Lane could have been giving lessons or running the music store. They deserved a better story.
Yeah agreed! I feel like that’s one of the reasons for me that Zack sometimes can feel very blah, because we don’t get to really see growth from him. But unlike Jess, that ends up in a better place, it feels like we don’t get to see that same thing from Zack. Again, I know it’s not called Zack and hep alien, but I agree I think it would be nice to see some thing different from his story! Thank you for your thoughts!
I just got up to this part of the show and I’m not even kidding you i screamed he ruined there chances of having a label and they haven’t spoken in weeks and Dave was named after Amy’s best friends husband who also was named lane and Dave was perfect for her it just doesn’t seem right he went through all that effort just to go to college and we don’t see his goodbye
I totally agree!!! I really feel like it’s because the actor is just too good and got his own show…but poor Dave and lane got the short end of the stick because of that! Breaks my heart too!! Is it your first time watching?
i loved Lane's character from the beggining of the show because i act just like her in some situations in my life, mainly with my dad whos kinda similar to Mrs. Kim (not that much, but he is). its really disappointing see her life go to the same as her mother's :/ also, in AYITL it would've been nice to see if lane had the successful career as a musician that she always wanted in contrast of rory's life. the two of them talking, deep in character and showing that Lane never changed, she grew up stronger and free. and maybe this talk with her best friend put some sense in rory's head to do something with her own life and become a better person. (omg i just created a script in my head while typing this)
Wow I love that!!! That would have been a great contrast to seen and also show that even though lane came from a small town and stayed longer than Rory in that town she really focused and was happy and got to where she wanted to be! Great idea!
I do strongly agree with how Dave really gave in more of wanting to be with Lane and Zack seemed like an bumbling idiot at first which I didn't care for. I did like his character growth I think Lane really helped see that he wasn't all this idiotic, flirty, mess and became a better person because of her and he later on buckles down and really cares for her. I think it would have been interesting if the writers had put that Dave would continue his education and then came back to Stars Hollow to continue his relationship with Lane I never really thought Zack was right for her in a lot of ways like their strong taste in music, audio technology knowledge that Dave had and Lane found that quality attractive because he was just being himself and yes, even though Zack did write a song with Mrs. Kim and supported him and Lane getting married at the end of the day I feel like we got cheated by Adam Brody moving on to another show I understand that he became successful and maybe being on two shows with the schedule he had wasn't enough time or something but he should have came back in a way were it worked out somehow with closure that maybe he was going to live in a different state with a newer job as an audio technician as his passion and became really great at it and then they had him come back maybe guest star in season 6 or 7 with how he missed Lane and doesn't want their futures to be separate so they date a little longer and he asks her to marry him at some point.
Yes! So true! I would have loved to see him come back, for either the closure of, "were not right for eachother" or for the realization of "ok, we've been long distance for a while now and let's get married!" great idea! Thank you for your thoughts!!
I think they could’ve given Dave a Mr. Kim storyline, so them still being together, but him not being visible to the audience. Especially since they endet up basically turning Lane into her mum anyway. At the same time I feel like Lane and Zack worked in a weird way. He wasn’t a relationship kinda guy and I guess grew into it. Just like Doyle and Logan. It certainly didn’t come as natural as it did for Lane and Dave. Then again I think that this relationship was a direct result of Lane not being able to date around and get out of Stars Hollow. In general the later seasons and a year in the life got a lot more real, including failure, disappointment and not just bouncing back from them like nothing happened. Still not sure if I like that or not 😂 All that said I guess the character of Lane became somewhat of an afterthought and Amy Sherman Palladino just wanted to stick to her original storyline for her. That of course would’ve worked way better with Dave.
Yeah agreed! I would have loved to see her story more fleshed out, but I get it with Adam going to his own show. I think you are right that Zack did enjoy being married to her, but I wish we had seen more of a change in him. Idk you're probably right on the original storyline idea! Thanks for your thoughts!
I wish Lane ended up with Brian honestly ❤ but we needed the drama from Zach. I hated when he told her to put on glasses it felt fetish like! I really don’t like that they put her with Zach. I hated it.
I have to pretty much agree with you, but I think you missed... The way they sacrificed for each other. I found it hard to believe that he wouldn't have stayed for Lane! :( Then look at the way he looks at Lane!! "Character-wise" it's excellent! He was TWITTERPATED! No doubt about it! lol "Acting-wise" i would have to say Dave/Adam Brody is an excellent Actor! The nuances, the way he did things - it all came together and was Extremely Believable for his character Dave. The way he pleaded to Mrs. Kim to take Lane to the Prom?!? I don't think anyone could have denied him! Albeit I haven't watched an entire season in at least 8 years now. But here's one... Mr. Richard Gilmore and Mrs. Emily Gilmore. Hmmm! LOL 😺Joy!!! 😺

😬😬😬 apparently!

@@abigailsalmeron474 Wow! I never made that connection, but yes!
@@abigailsalmeron474omg you are so right
I wish that if we couldn't have Dave that Lane could have ended up with Brian: he was so much nicer than Zack!
Another great option!! I feel like that goes into the “I’ll write a song about you” that would have been a better lead up!! I like it!
true, zack's character should've had stayed that way, he was fun at the beginning and really enjoyed him, but I really did see lane and brian working really well, I really see them having such funny moments together and building the attraction and relationship would've been so interesting.
I def agree with this

Yeah agreed. Unnatural is the perfect word!
a) Brian
b)Henry
c) New love interest
d) Another actor take the role of Dave
All of these options are better than Zach.

I feel like this was a GG curse or something as we also got Jess taken away too soon/prematurely 😢 sigh...
So true!! Yeah and didn’t get to see the path of his maturity and growth! Sad!
Tristan, Dean, Jess, Dave, all got a little headstart on GG, then left for their own shows. One Tree Hill, Supernatural, Heroes, The O.C.
I think that does show how good the hiring was though! They could see talent from the beginning!!

So true
I wish Dave made a cameo in the last season and lane and Dave reconnected again 😢 instead of her marrying Zach
Honestly, they just should have recast Dave. It happens occasionally on network tv
Yeah, honestly, I think I would have preferred that to the alternative plot for sure!
