I camped in site #5 in 79 and 80. The sites look much improved. No more wooden tables. The road leading up to the camp is asphalt now. Love it! Thx for uploading!
Thanks so much for sharing this video!! Next summer I'm planning a bikepacking trip on a mountain bike and one of the days I have a 100mile ride planned to start at Monarch ski area, Salida, up in this area because I love St. Elmo, also on a map I saw the Cascade Campground which if I don't think I could make it back to Monarch in one day I will try to find a place to camp there. That campground is amazing!! Thanks for showing it in your video!!
I love all of your videos. Thanks for helping us plan our trips well!! We are going to be in this area for 2 days in September and wanted to ask, which out of these campgrounds Cascade, Mount Princeton or Chalk Lake is your favorite. It's hard to pick one. Do you have one you'd prefer to camp at? Thank you!!
I like 13 at Chalk Lake for tent camping. A couple of sites will fit an RV along the creek. I think 2 and 10 were the better ones. (I don't want to watch the video because it will make me want to re-visit with the newer cameras) The hike across the road, short walk to the lake, the trail above the campground on the old railroad line are all great activities that you don't have to drive to.
Thanks for all your information on camp grounds. Maybe I am missing this ,but could you include information on if their is water to fill up the rv tanks and if dump stations are available.
Sometimes I forget to include that in the video or the video description. For this campground, RV Water is available at Buena Vista Public Works on Gregg Drive in the vicinity of the airport. I've had a couple people tell me the price is $2 for over 100 gallons . No dump stations on CR 162. Not sure if the BV Public Works has one or not. Otherwise, some of the private campgrounds around BV will allow it for a fee.
Stayed here in June 19th of 2019, drinking coffee around 5:30 am when I thought I heard a jet coming in for it's final approach to Denver, weird, right? Of course it's not a jet but a massive rockslide 70 yards west of our campsite (site #2), my son and nephew were asleep but when I realized what it was I ran to the tent and got them up right quick still not sure if we were going to avoid being hit, here's a short video of the aftermath: ua-cam.com/video/lCR38MSIq_I/v-deo.html
Thanks for sharing. It can be a dangerous area. In 2013 there was a rock slide just down the road from there at Agnes Vaille Falls. 5 members of the same family were killed.
Thanks for the video's. Hat's off to the camp hosts, well maintained... I'd be fishing Chalk Creek.

I bet it is more crowded now. It is still one of our favorite areas to camp. Thanks for watching
You're awesome! Thanks for this great video!
Glad it was helpful

Nice, there is a water station.
Can’t u put up maps of exactly where in Colorado you are please?? Enjoy your videos tho🤗
We could probably do that. Maps will definitely be part of a new website that we are working on for next year.
Is there any water in the campground?
Hand pump water.
