People are underselling karato a bit, and most of them probably don't realize that his multipliers grade from strong to godlike.
He's fine. The passive shenanigans were meant for dealing with pythion/duchess/harima types, though that might be more attractive in theory than actually in practice.
For real though, he's on par with someone like astralon. A lot of people aren't going to be excited to pull him in 2024, but if you want a hard hitting crowd control champ for wave content who can casually fill in as a sometimes arena nuker, he'll be capable in the right gear. It's just that those hybrid damage/CC types are a dime a dozen so they don't wow anyone.

Karato is actually really good because of his passive. You build him around it. Use a merciless or savage. Then all masteries that say "increase damage" specifically dont get. You can get things like giant slayer, increase crit rate, increase crit dam, if you deal 30% damage you lessen the cooldown of a skill. He also is really good against duchess/pytheon

Karato's damage does increase with certain masteries (helmsmasher)but something like a ruthless ambush doesn't work on him it's kinda weird but pretty much usable in wave based content in doom towerhard and he is a hard carry for cursed city.
By the looks of it karato is going to be incredibly usefull in the new siege mode beacuase most of the tower effects don't really effect him.
Overall he wont provide much value for your account unless you're struggling clearing the waves in doom tower hard
If or when you pull Yumeko, Karato's value in the arena shoots way, way up.
I was fortunate to get Brogni early on as one of my first leggos when I started the game over a year ago. He's been an absolute game-changer and his kit is amazing, even in CB with him being against force affinity, he still holds his own very well. Congrats on geomancer. He's hands down, the best epic in the game. He's basically a leggo in disguise with how good he is. CB will get way easier with this guy as well from the amount of damage he puts out.
I used Karato for FW simply because my champ pool in Shadowkin was so thin at the time, but this was 2+ years ago. The block active skills was very nice on the annoying Valk or Sethallia/Thenasil waves, the 2-turn stun also came in clutch somewhat often. He's occasionally available in some Cursed city stages, where he's useful for the same reasons. I don't have Yumeko, but she's all around a much better champ, with or without him.
I like Karato. He was in my main arena team for a while. But I also was lucky enough to pull a Yumeko. Without her, he's probably just average. Because without her, then you need ACC for the Block Active skill. And even without having to build for accuracy, he's not a top level nuker. He's ok. His A2 actually does a fair amount, and with the Yumeko, you get an extra turn when he kills someone. So he can do the old Septimus thing where he just pops enemies one after the other. One thing that really annoys me, though, is that his block active skill can't be resisted with Yumeko on the team; but he does enough damage that their passives kick in and remove it. And it's not quite enough to kill them with that skill. So it often doesn't really have any effect. If they made that skill "cannot be removed," he would be pretty amazing.
Demytha 3 painkeepers and geo....2 minute run on twins 15...if you ever pull emic you can run emic 2 painkeeper geo and cold heart. 1 minute twins 15 run....karate is pretty ordinary without yemeko!
Karato's passive is mainly for arena, maybe weird doom tower waves. Duchess/Pythion passives would not reduce his damage, but he also loses out on like 25% damage boost if he could have offensive masteries so he doesn't quite hit hard enough to oneshot a good Duchess with his aoe. Wrong affinity to oneshot a Rotos. I vaulted him until I recently pulled Yumeko and gave him a shot... not really panning out for him to counter what his kit should counter but I still need to ascend his gear for max potential.
If you have an infinity comp with Wixwell for CB, I though people said that can be used for Iron Twins.
Think Karato is not affected by passives from say Harima and Taras also, so there is that. Stay safe.

I use Emic in Iron Twins on my alt, so unkillable can work. I think you need a minimum of a 4-turn cooldown though and Maneater is 5-turns when booked IIRC (never pulled a maneater on either account).
You can use Demytha with Geo in Iron twins. As far a Karato goes, I only use him in faction wars at level 50 and he does decent damage and crowd control... but I also have Yumiko on the team

I did the fusion on Karato and thought I would never get Yumeko. Fast forward like 2 years I have Yumeko use her almost everywhere. I tried her and him together and then he went back into the vault. Some live arena is ok with the both but by himself he isn't really good. Geo is account changing however congrats!
The nice thing about pulling bad legendaries is that they are likely to be buffed.

this man did Karato's fusion on the last FTP, "I don't know anything about him". That tells you all you need to know. He never made it passed level 50 on the last FTS. I'd build him just because he looks cool.

I use Karato in FW because I'm lacking in Shadowkin champions. That's it. I haven't found a use for him elsewhere.
That Geo pull is great! I vote that as your next Epic to build.
Ancient usually are only worth 20. I don't know if this a permanent change for Summon Rush from here on out or just this fusion. Unkillable isn't useless in IT as it can save you from Doomsday Machine. The boss A1 is what ignores the unkillable but it doesn't seem to hit that hard. They brought that change so that people couldn't sit there with 1HP on a Paragon and cheese it.
Karato is a very good nuker and some decent CC if you wanna give him ACC. Not a bad pull, not a god-tier pull 🙂Grats!
I think Karato can oneshot taras as his damage can't be decreased by taras passive, i think thats one of his best uses for arena, probably not worthed booking still, but he has that use

I have a Maneater Iron Twins on an alt account (Emic works better) but in the right team you can make unkillable work. Helicath is the 100% never lose guy, with Geomancer they all work!

You don’t strictly have to have block damage for IT with geo. Mithrala and geo is a great start to a killable IT team.
