I love that your videos are pretty straight forward and I really appreciate all the effort you put into this! You're really helping me get along with freecad!
Love your videos. People with poor eye sight can follow your videos due to the pointer size and slower than normal speed and clear explanation. 99% Of the other Cad videos the pointer is so small you can HARDLY see it when not moving and when moving it is so fast it just disappear. Have you made other FreeCad Videos. If so Please give the links. Thanks a lot.......
You do a great job with these tutorials, thank you. I'd love to have a TechDraw tutorial showing how to create a technical drawing of an assembly, with each component detailed on a different page (all pages in same TechDraw file). Maybe we'll see "TechDraw workbench part 6" soon?
I asked wandererfan about this when I was working on the tutorial. Multi-page pdfs weren't supported. You have to create a separate page for each drawing for now
Thank u for making the above tutorial it helped me a lot ---- with respect to editable contents issue faced in FreeCad , I tried to select the entire sheet as shown by you at time 7:13 in the tutorial after that you simply go to drop-down menu "object" and select "Group" and save the file as you did in your above tutorial. It worked for me and found that editable fields wherein sync as original SVG file. its not a FreeCad problem - Please try if it works at your end
FreeCAD is changing relatively fast ... I wish there were a way for videos like this containing workarounds to acquire links to newer techniques as the code changes.
Hey Shaise! I just did some work last week and used your fantastic sheet metal workbench. I was going to do a video on it but Joko has done one that is extremely good.

Thanks for your Video! that wrong position of the green click boxes is definitely a bug in FreeCAD: the predefined text itself is rendered at the correct position... as far as i tested code that extracts the `freecad:editable` nodes just does not handle the transforms of parent elements at all! regarding your transform things - i have found this inkscape addon but did not test it: github.com/Klowner/inkscape-applytransforms additionally some other possible things are listed in this stackoverflow question: stackoverflow.com/questions/13329125/removing-transforms-in-svg-files but keep in mind that inkscape is eventually also configured so that it scales line-width during the normal scale operation.. and text will be scaled also..
Hello! Thanks as always for your useful videos, I have one question: are DXF templates supported? I read that in FreeCAD v0.18 they should, but I didn't find any examples
Really great series ... Is there a way to contact you for one more step that I cannot get worked out ? I've seen the questions, but never found an answer ... I'd need to put electrical symbols in a floorplan and give them measures ... I did manage to use symbols and place them correctly, but have no way to work with measures this way ...
The templates have options for various A0, A1, A2, ..., US Letter, US Legal papers. The metric ones support way more sizes, small and large, while the US is more limited. I'm sorry, but they're more concerned about 95% of the world that use metric papers. You could always define a different US print size, and make the world a better place.
Late to the conversation but just came across these great tutorials. I see Bhisma’s point, while editing an existing template offers a great starting point the tutorial could do with showing how to add a new clickable field. Companies/ users may need to show additional information in the block that is not part of the starting template and Inkscape would be one more tool to learn for what should be (or is?) an easy process. Can a new template be created in the draft WB, exported and the clickable fields added later?
I used this video when i was freeCAD 0.18 and it worked great. Now I am using freeCAD 0.19 and i am having the same issue with blocks out of place. Were you able to resolve your issue?
This video seems to show another way of adding a template without using a third software like Inkscape or Illustrator, just Freecad ua-cam.com/video/RVAhkczpyD0/v-deo.html

Yep, check the other videos in my channel. Lots of FreeCAD content, mostly about the Path workbench.

TechDraw has had a ton of new features and improvements since I did this series. Glad it's working for you!
Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for!

Thankyou! This one was great and helpful.
Thank you so much.. i wanted to get customizable fields for hours.. lol 😆
Hey @sliptonic! was looking for template customizing instructions, and of course I land at you channel. Thanks from shaise.

regarding your transform things - i have found this inkscape addon but did not test it:
github.com/Klowner/inkscape-applytransforms
additionally some other possible things are listed in this stackoverflow question:

Pages can be saved as dxf but I haven't heard anything about dxf templates yet. Would be nice though.
@@sliptonic Thank you 🙂
Also interested in this idea. Anything in the wiki of relevance?
Thank you for your tutorials

I'm not an expert on TechDraw. The best thing to do is to post to the TechDraw section of the FreeCAD forum. forum.freecadweb.org/viewforum.php?f=35
@@sliptonic thanks for the fast reply ... in the video series you seem quite competent though !!
Is there a way to change the size of the paper? Been looking everywhere.

Thanks, I subscribed to your channel, I am also to become efficient with the Path WB, too!
Perfect.... Thanks a lot.
Hi..
In my Tec draw mode I'm not getting these green highlights in title box, so i'm unable to edit. Any suggestion?
Try another template. If none of the templates are editable, definitely post on the forum in the techdraw section
Can you please make one tutorial on how to create template for FreeCAD in inkscape having Editable fields?
Or direct me to suitable videos.
How about the one above? You can always change "Company Name" to something else, change its location and font size ...
