Crystals do more damage when your feet is above or level with it, it does basically no damage if your feet is one block below, having the highground in crystal pvp is the biggest mistake you can make

Tip: Use Respawn Anchors to create pits to go into.
My Strat:
Light a Respawn anchor (pretty cheap)
then pearl in and start crystaling.

i think you are so much better than this. one tip is to download a no explosion particles texture pack cuz it helps to clear the vision. another thing is it increase fps cuz the particle is gone.
