Love seeing Canada's Lot 40 Cask Strength in your list. My vote for best Rye, or at least best price-quality for a Rye. Even the regular bottling at 43% is pretty great.

Kilchoman also does some stellar red wine casks, as does Arran.
But Longrow is just awesome! I wanted this year's Pinot Red, but it sold out in about 2 weeks! Not sure if we got a smaller allocation this year, but I was saddened to see it disappear so quickly (glad I at least got a taste 😊).

Great list! I totally agree with your assessment of Lot 40! Being from Canada I'm spoiled as I've had several bottles of both the 12 year and 11 year (admittedly I prefer the 12): but both are fantastic, even the base expression shows you what a 100% rye can be! I'm not surprised that you mentioned wine finished Scotch single malts but as an alternative the Green Spot Wine Geese series? The Green Spot Chateau Leoville Barton is one of my favourite whiskies ever.

The only Indian whiskies we get are Paul John, Amrut and Rampur. Overall the Irish whiskies are in need of improvement, nothing that is an "absolute must." I never see German, Spanish, or Swedish whiskies in the USA. I can't recommend a whisky that isn't available.

been to Scotland and had a Scotch with a Scot... learned how to drink it. Was a Glenfiddich 18, little drop of water... and drank it with a 80 schilling beer. Was the Morning "nip"... was after the morning breakfast at 730am, Afternoon Nip was a GlenAllachie 18 with a St Andrews... at 11:30 before Lunch.... the pre dinner nip was amazing as well... was a Glen Garioch with another St Andrews..... I learned that Scots drink whisky with beer, and me being 6'6 at 300 pounds, can not hold a candle to my Brother in Laws Father In law... and he is maybe 5-7, 125.......

The Lot 40 CS Rye is an excellent expression. Even the standard release is pretty good. The 12 Year from 2017 was the best version so far, imo, though the 11 Year was right up there. Hoping the 2019 release will be at the Banff Whisky Experience this year, as I believe Corby is preparing to launch the new Northern Border Collection.
As for a Canadian-style whisky to try before you die...I'd lean more to the Gooderham & Worts line from JP Wiser's, myself. The Little Trinity was amazing, and Eleven Souls was a masterpiece of barrel blending.

I am SOO sorry - but Nikke from the Barrel is not really a "real" Japanese Whisky but really a big part from Ben Nevis

+WhiskyJason by REAL Japanese Whiskey I’m not referring to a parent company but the source of the casks. Nikka From The Barrel is drawn from a blend of more than 100 different batches of malt and grain whisky produced at the brand's Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries. According to their website it is 100% from Japan, not Scotland.

      @@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies it is probably a mix - adventuresinwhiskyland.com/2016/07/04/nikka-from-the-barrel/
The question is - where are the 1+million liters of new make being used for that Ben Nevis makes and which are then shipped to Japan every year?

      No. It's 100% from Japan.
