Thanks for another excellent video! Just got mine, and I have two questions: I. Is it possible to regulate the output power? II. How to get a side tone?
Thank you for this test. In Italy you can buy it for less than 200 Euros, about 200 dollars shipped home. Surely it's not a competition apparatus but... it works decently. 👋👋
I have the usdr+ set up on FT8,, it works fine if a bit flakey. I started with using a USB sound card and the Vox setting on the radio, this worked but a lot of confusion with the volume settings and various outputs. I then moved to the sound card plus CAT controller and that works much better. You get basic frequency change facilities but the huge benefit is not having to use VOX
You can't go too far wrong at $318 AUD if you are willing to tinker. Sure its no iCOM 7300 but it'll get you on the air and with a bit of tinkering you can make it sound fairly decent. Getting on HF has always had a big price barrier for new hams. This may be the ticket to lowering the bar to entry into HF. Now I might own a 7300, but my problem is room - I don't have the space to get on the lower bands!
Interested in some specific critical settings. heard it is easy to crisp the finals. especially Noise gate, PA bias min and PA Bias MAX. Any guidance on setting this radio appreciated. Ed W6AOA Pensacola, FL
Absolutely! In fact I am in the process of making another series on the HL2, just waiting for some other parts to arrive. Will be interesting for sure. Cheers
Do you know if anyone has instructions on how to set this up for CAT Control? I bought this and set it up according to the recommended settings I googled and it works just fine for me. For $260.00 Canadian it's a good buy for what you get.
Looks a bit cheaply constructed (on the component level), while the design seems decent. Needs some polish and fixes before I would be interested. I love the idea, but unsure of the implementation.
Like all value priced radios, the TX has a good deal of splatter. The RX is real tin sounding. Very comprehensive review. I think you saved me some money. Lol
the power 12 v 1.5 amp is very bad to transceiver i think realy the amperes have 2 amp for this type of transceiver need more power is very just for 4 watts and function menu i recomended use AGC SLOW becuse the volume is more stable for the procesed audio signal for audio tx distorsion open the transceiver and put into electrect microphone one capacitor between positve and negative electrect microphone conexion to RF distorsion is very miracle solution to audio tx
Nice set and nice review but the TX audio is shocking.

What cable did you use if you don’t mind me asking
What kind of cable did you use to connect to your computer?

How is it on CW? How are the harmonics? Does it have a clean output?
Is there any explanation of the PROG-CAT switch and the USB-TTL switch? can you update the firmware from one of the back ports?
I love watching your videos. Your storage must be overflowing. Do you keep everything you review?

Looks cool but the VERY FIRST UPGRADE would be a 100 watt amp.
Thanks Matt. Do you still have your Hermes lite 2?
Absolutely! In fact I am in the process of making another series on the HL2, just waiting for some other parts to arrive. Will be interesting for sure. Cheers
@@TechMindsOfficial I ordered one. It will arrive shortly. Hope to cross areals soon with you. De ON7OFF
Hi, it also works in AM / FM
this work on 11 meters band.
Wish you would have set up the TX audio correctly and tested it, you'll be good to know if it's garbage or not
That BNC patch looked like 75 ohm connectors?
(If it costs 20 times more) I would expect the radio to be considerably better.
Does it by chance come with a manual?
這台接什麼天線呢,短波能操作範圍
I think the power level is adjustable, correct?
I have the same question.

does it work on 11 meters?
When I get mine I’ll answer this on my channel I’m curious too
Does it have a built-in battery?
No
Very nice rig but availability in india ?
Has anyone figured out how to connect to computer for FT8 ?

Tx audio is not that great.
Certainly a cheap way to get on the air.

A Chinese monster. Terrible !
