If people have a different opinion from someone else, and that someone else happened to be Female, LGBT, Black, or combinations thereof, the automatic mental attitude is to attribute that difference in opinion to the fact that that person is probably a DEI hire and was hired only to check DEI checkboxes. In other words, instead of treating that person as someone who may have a reasonable basis for having a different opinion, the basis becomes that the person is incompetent and would unemployable without a DEI mandate. The DEI mandate encourages hostility rather than understanding and harmony. This is like having as boss a son or daughter of the owner or major stockholder of the company. That boss has a very tough road ahead of him or her. They have to prove that they are your boss because they have the ability and the competence to be the boss instead of just being there because of nepotism. People who are hired because of DEI are placed in a similar position. They have to prove---more than any other employee---that they are indeed up to the task being asked of them. Unfortunately, many of these DEI hires persist in their attitude of entitlement, they insist on their preferred pronouns, they don't follow norms in their attire and appearance, and they revel in their ignorance and incompetence. (Don't ask me how I know.) Instead of attempting to prove that they deserve the position and the employment, they manage to prove the opposite, that without DEI mandates they would be unemployable.
The U.S. military should retain DEI, we need equal numbers of women in front-line combat roles. Or, would feminists veto that suggestion because it matches some "exclusion catagory". Hey...I'm just pointing out a flaw in the DEI governance code.
