I started getting concerned when I lived in Montana during the Yellowstone Park fires of 1986. Never seen anything like it, and not things are even worse.
Wildfires are totally normal, and healthy. The intensity of the Yellowstone fires was the result of decades of fire suppression. The NPS manages fires very differently as a result of those fires, and much more smartly.

I don’t know if it was specifically a tornado, but some firefighters were killed when their truck was tossed. The more climate change is ignored, the more frequent and more devastating these will become.

And the backstory that no one seems to be discussing: Residents in many places in CA have actively pushed back against fire mitigation efforts, prescribed burns, etc. This combined with a series of terrible policy decisions, are significant contributing factors to the current situation (as well as other, recent fires in the state). "Climate change" is but one factor.
I seen some control burns that happen on occasion in my area where a cal fire crew would watch one of the buns on the hills near the sides of freeways. But then again prescribed burns are limited to state owned properties like state parks, and freeways where I seen them never in the very neighborhoods getting hit by the fires today.
If they took the same people who want to go to Mars and use them as lookouts all throughout the fire susceptible lands, then these fires wouldn't be able to grow out of hand and present itself as stage 10 cancer. Residents in many places in CA have actively pushed back against fire mitigation efforts, prescribed burns, etc. This combined with a series of terrible policy decisions, are significant contributing factors to the current situation (as well as other, recent fires in the state). "Climate change" is but one factor.
I seen some control burns that happen on occasion in my area where a cal fire crew would watch one of the buns on the hills near the sides of freeways. But then again prescribed burns are limited to state owned properties like state parks, and freeways where I seen them never in the very neighborhoods getting hit by the fires today.
If they took the same people who want to go to Mars and use them as lookouts all throughout the fire susceptible lands, then these fires wouldn't be able to grow out of hand and present itself as stage 10 cancer. The Chinese did it with the great wall, strategically put lookout points with humans 24/7 there to smoke signal problems if/when they arise
