I was distracted by her still having the plastic on her couch. It brought back childhood, summertime memories of wearing shorts and sitting on my aunt's couch. I saw it the other way. She was so happy that she was justified by the court. I am sure it meant a lot to her. Older generations tend to be all about being a truth teller or liar in the eyes of others. But I do understand how you could also see it the way you did

Judge Million is the BEST!!! ❤ She's especially fair in construction cases. Her family members have a background in the contracting business & she's familiar with the cost of the work.
Concerning the "After the Verdict" segment, would a neighbouring landowner be allowed to pick the fruit if it overhung his yard? If they are allowed to trim the overhanging branches (as Judge Millian always mentions), wouldn't they be allowed to pick the fruit too?

Yes if it is over your property it is yours from my understanding of the law. Not individual legal advice your mileage may very. But every state I know of it is yours for the picking.

Damn, this is a crazy one. I feel bad for the lady for hiring one of the bad unlicensed contractors, because there are plenty of great unlicensed contractors that provide excellent quality work at affordable pricing. I’m curious what state this job was in. I have been roofing for over 10 years now, and I have never had to pull a permit, nor have permits ever been required for tear off recovers even when replacing damaged/rotted wood.
We don’t have to get a permit here either

I know exactly what happened . The tenants were complaining about the roof . Probably was leaky . The landlord was probably not a very good one ; she probably got tired of them complaining. She sees a shade tree roofer on a roof and figures it would be good and cheap . But the tenants sees that she’s once again sending over some shade tree handyman’s and that is why they started telling him that he wasn’t a real roofer. She realizes that the tenants are fed up with her, because she indeed (once again) has hired a (weed smoking at that even worse )shade tree handy man. and to appease her tenants , she fires him . She totally would not had fired him if not for her tenants .
I like judge John he needs his own show. Lol the peach story is sounds like something my wife and I would argue about. Of course she would be right.

Any client should check the roofer's or anyone's license & make sure they're legally bonded. Not after the job got started.

People look at the price rather than quality of work. If someone says they can do the job for 25% cheaper than other contractor's estimates, there's a reason. They use either substandard material or inexperienced labor.

Defendant had no receipts on his supply's purchases. Not professional at all. He is a con. Sad she was ripped off and did not double check his credentials. She has learned a valuable lesson. Bless her heart.
And then there's the defendant's dance-around answer to the judge's question, "Who did you think was pulling a permit if not you?" with "If there's a permit that needs to be pulled, the landlord could go to the building department..."
And I think only the landlord or a licensed contractor can pull a permit, so he's almost implying he just might not have a license.
