The Presence of the Past - Prague, 3rd October 2018

This video presents the highlights of the SoundMe concert in Prague on 3 October 2018. Five pieces by young composers from the Czech Republic, Belarus, Brazil and Slovakia were premiered. All were based on musical material from the past. Some directly incorporated materials from the SoundMe project, others were inspired by the concept ‘Uses of the Past’ in a more general way. The compositions were created in 2018 under the supervision of Michal Rataj, associate professor at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and a leading composer of the younger generation in the Czech Republic with support from and in collaboration with researchers from the SoundMe project.
