This carving is done from a single piece of pine . I used my Stihl ms 250 to block out the majority of the fox . I then used my Stihl ms 170 with a dime tip bar to refine the fox . The overall height of this carving is close to 3ft .
Warning: If you decide to try to chainsaw carve you are doing so at your own risk . This is not the safest thing to be doing with your free time . I can’t be held responsible if you get hurt that’s on you .

Hi Kyle. Thanks for all your generous teaching videos. I just got my first carving chainsaws and carved my first two bears in the last two days. However, my Stihl 170 and 180 (with dimetip bars) produce so much oil that my carving is soaked with oil . I can see puddles of oil at the tip as I am carving hair actually forming little puddles of oil. I called Stihl and they said the oiler is not adjustable in these level saws. Have you experienced anything like this...any advice will be well appreciated....thanks again!

Hi RG the quick fix is to do a burn on the carving with a torch like I do before sanding , paint and clear . The burn will burn most off . Mine oil like crazy also . Good news is you won’t burn the bar out as fast with all the oil

Remember the dime tip bar has NO sprocket so you want the oil flowing!

Hi Paul . It depends on the piece. A lot of times I just use spray paint like krylon but if I want details and shades I will use an acrylic and my Airbrush.
