COPO with LS motor is good for 8.3 from factory. There three different motors in COPO Camaro...Chevy makes 69 a year and they cost $150,000 each. Chevy had over 9000 bids.

164 MPH is enough terminal speed to run 8.15 to 8.20 in a professionally set up drag chassis car. Lot of power in this pony car !

princeyear2k8 Duly noted. It is the fastest "Stick Shift GT500 in the quarter mile at 164 MPH" and it is the quickest "Stick Shift GT500 in the quarter mile at 8.80 ET". Other GT500's have gone faster and quicker with different set ups and Automatic Transmissions. This is simply the fastest and quickest in a quarter with a Manual Trans.

Seeing as the car in this video traps 5 mph faster than the one I just mentioned, and a tenth quicker, 1,200 whp is a pretty close estimate, wouldn't you say?

How come some gt500 mustangs have a 160 max speedometer and others 220?
2013 and 2014 have the 200+ speedo. The earlier GT500s are electronically limited to 155mph. That's why they have the 160mph speedo.

This is a quick. He is doing it with a Manual tranny to boot. Probably the quickest, but not the fastest. There are several Mustangs out there running faster than 200 MPH in the Mile and Mile and a half.
Not much of a chance of it Car set up for different race. Those 220 MPH Mustangs will win their race. the 1/4 mile car will win his.
The 2020 ford performance gt500 wont do that!

banshee939 It depends on the track. Some look the other way, but running a sub9 will get you thrown out without a cage(after the first run that is). Curious what the standard rule is though. Plenty of Shelbys getting mid 11s off of the showroom floor (pretty sure not a lot of Shelby owners want a daily driver with a cage).

We have a track close to me that will let you run without a cage.

It should say "fastest ... in the quarter mile". There are many mustang shelby's that'll top out higher than this. That is the definition of "fastest in the world". Plenty of broke 200+. The quarter mile part is pretty important here...
Everyone keeps talking about what a great driver this guy is , He may have a fast car but he got owned on the tree as that gray Mustang in the left lane was already moving off the line before this guys leg even moves to let out the clutch, And if that .565 reaction time is on a 000 tree and not a .500 tree it means he left on the green which is over a a half second late and thats what it looks like he did. And then he starts cackling like a hen when he looks at the time slip like that was the first time he realized the car was that fast. Give me a break.
I get what your saying but not only did he got owned at the tree, he also missed a gear around mid track and he still crank out a 8.803 ! So imaging if neither one of those 2 things didn't occur he defiantly runs even a faster time.
Regina Moss Getting owned on the tree has absolutey nothing to do with the elapsed time. You can sit there all day and the ET timer doesnt start until you break the starting beam. As far as him missing a gear, that is even further proof he is not a very good driver, which was my point. The car is fast but needs a better driver.
FastgunEd Perhaps but let's not forget that the upload is really about the car and I myself would not judge the driver's skill level on the only past that I've seen him make because he missed a gear......shit happens, now if he has several uploads were it is shown that he is missing gears driving this same car, then there would be some validity about his skill level. Regardless the car is a "stupid fast for a DD.
Regina Moss You are missing the point. My posts are not about how fast the car is. They are about the other posters who are bragging about what a great driver this guy is. Re-read the first sentence of my 1st post. A driver who leaves over a half second late on the tree('Sleeping," Treed" "owned" )and then misses a gear is not exactly proof what a great driver he is. This car is fast, very fast, and only rookies start cacking like a hen when their car goes fast. No sophisticatio at all. We have 6 year old girls who drive JR dragsters at our track who are better drivers than this guy, especially on the tree..

Now if you wan't to say that wasn't a great pass then that's fine, nothing wrong with that, some would proably disagree but there's nothing wrong with that either, but as I said in my last post this was 1 run. +Robert Coile I have to say..out of all the hellcats I encountered on the street(auto or manual) none of them were able to keep it straight enough to make it much of a contest. I am on crummy stock F1 tires as well and my launches are not that great either, but so far the Hellcats definitely have the power...they just cannot put it down to the ground (unless it is a roll race or something). Ever see a stock HC at a Shift-S3ctor event...even on roll races those guys have problems putting down the power on stock tires...
