Yeesssss!!!!! When did " over busy" become SUCH a badge of honor for women?! Was it the 20's? The 40's? The 80's? I remember my mom being so busy that she wouldn't eat and it really wrecked her health, physical, mental and even spiritual!
Growing up all stores, except some gas stations and grocery stores (only food was sold), were closed on Sundays. I think this helped families rest. We had a slow, calm day together. I miss those days.

My word for 2025 is MOVEMENT. I don’t mean totally focusing on boldily movement either, although, there will be some of that, too. I’m a REBEL as defined by Gretchen Rubin in her book “The Four Tendencies”. Something snapped in me at the end of December as I was planning for 2025. Suddenly, I derive great pleasure from having a daily, weekly, and monthly list of things I want to accomplish and checking off each item. The lists are heavy with self care activities. I’m retired, by golly, and I don’t have to have a schedule anything beyond what I want to do each day and the traveling I’ve planned for this year. On January 1, I totally erased every commitment I had in my calendar. My morning’s are free for extensive self care activities and I’ve seen to it that my evenings accommodate my self care evening routine. My happiness quotient has been raised astronomically as a result. I’ve joined Gretchen’s 25 in 2025 reading plan and for the first time in many decades, I’m reading for 25 minutes every day. I agree, 2025 is going to be an amazing year!
I love Poirot!!! It is so delightful to see someone else today still enjoying this amazing old mystery show that I grew up loving! I particularly love the earliest ones best. Happy New Year, Jennifer!❤🕊🙏🏻
Fasting 16:8 is best for me too - not interested in anything else. It’s basically 3 meals a day and nothing after 5-6:00 pm. Thank you and Happy New Year!
I am a huge coffee drinker, but when I'm sick, I cannot drink it- it tastes awful. I only drink hot tea. Glad you are feeling better and hopefully coffee will taste good to you again soon!
Several years ago I developed a painful foot problem. I had to rest with my feet up for an hour of so every afternoon. I read, crochet, or watch videos. This has been wonderful for my IBS also. Our bodies need a break during the day!
Since I have started Intermittent Fasting, I stopped drinking coffee totally since I must have sugar with coffee. I now drink tea, and love it. I even go to Afternoon Teas with a friend. I have learned to drink many different teas. They are amazing. I also started exercising again. After stop doing Yoga which I did for many years, I am now doing Pilates and it is amazing how stiff my body is. And another thing I am doing for my Inner Peace is committing to Prayer. Prayer rests my Inner Sou. Thanks again for all your tips.
Good for you - so so good for people to stop with yoga. Exorcists warn against it because it can be a portal for the demonic which can also hurt your health. Pilates = good. Stretching is fine, but not yoga "poses" and chants/mantras
What a relatable video Jennifer, thanks for putting this together. I too lead an endlessly productive life with 2 careers, living in a busy city, plus committments to family and friends. Not packing my schedule out is soooo hard for me but life has forced me to rest with a series of winter viruses and other health issues making me sick for nearly 3 months! It's been incredibly hard to manage a forced stop like this but I can see a great need in 2025 to prioritise my health with plenty of rest, exercise (also not a fan like you!) and good nutrition. Would love for you to post updates throughout the year on these 3 areas to help support those of on a good health journey in 2025 ❤
So happy you addressed the changing up of 16:8 as I find that as well…I just do better all around keeping it 16:8 without changing it up. Made my day/week/year to know it’s not just me! Thank you for sharing this. 🤗😘
A very good plan for 2025. As far as I'm concerned my résolution for 2025 is also " trouver la paix intérieure". I'm always in the rush to do things and I don't find time to rest. So, I want for this year, be present each day and not think at all the tasks I have to do later. Be in the present moment even I organize my days. I also want to live more outside : walk, pic nic, garden. And read 50 books. Take this time for me
😢oh Jennifer. Do take care! I know so many who also have pneumonia. It is going around. Healing takes time and I too am impatient with recovering. Prayers for healing ❤
I’m happy to see your feeling better, I’ve been battling this along with you so your speaking from my heart, even down to not wanting coffee and drinking tea and loss of appetite, I had lost 8 lbs!We are the same age and I also have young children so I know rest is something we have to make a point to do. Thank you for posting these, they are very encouraging. 2025 is going to be great! But it has to start with me and healthy boundaries and habits otherwise I feel I can’t be present the way I want to be.
I've enjoyed indulgences over the holiday season but I'm so ready to get back to my normal routine, especially with eating. I'm right with you Jennifer, it's going to be a great, healthy year!
Thanks for sharing your goals! It inspires me! Mine: Exercise-- Jessica Smith’s Best Year Yet program Diet -- only fruit for dessert after evening meal. Aim for 10gm fiber and 20gm protein for breakfast. Lunch is unfortunately usually leftovers from evening meal but aiming for healthy meals that my family eats and are healthy. Dessert only at afternoon tea. Rest -- stop doing housework or work at 8pm
My goals are very similar to yours, Jennifer! Along the same lines of slowing down and being more peaceful living, I’m simplifying even more than I already have… which looks like: being on social media less (no scrolling!), unfollowing unnecessary accounts. Simplifying every aspect of my routine…capsule meal plans, workout routines, entertainment, friends/family, and of course wardrobe!! Quality over quantity is my mantra for 2025!! 🎉
If you don’t rest, your body will force you to. I learned this when I had a stroke at 30. Right now, I’m being reminded of that. I’m on bed rest at 36 with a geriatric pregnancy after baby loss and I’m used to doing so much and, now, I have to do almost everything lying down. I’m very thankful for the care I’m receiving from my husband and a friend and this has been so good in changing my perspective and humbling me.
I heard a helpful message from Dr. Josh Axe right before Christmas. “Let go of perfection.” I’m the oldest in a large family and have a very strong type A personality. I love making sure everything is perfectly done and nothing gets missed. All December, I chose to prioritize sleep and others and I have no regrets. Instead of staying up late to work on projects I desperately wanted to do, I would just go to sleep. Instead of doing projects in my own little home where I live alone, I would stop what I was doing to go help family for a few hours. Thankfully, I made it to Christmas without catching any viruses and I got to be such a blessing to others by having energy and covering for those who were weak or sick. (Note: the children I nanny did give me the flu a couple days after Christmas, but what do you expect when someone with an infection repeatedly coughs in your face? 🙈) My point is that it was hard to let go of my lists, but the good health was worth it.
I'm sorry to hear you have been so sick. Several years ago I had the same experience and also lost my appetite and desire for coffee. Happily my desire for it returned for I love my morning coffee! Rest is crucial for recovery. Best wishes for the new year and I look forward to your videos this year!
"Plotting my comeback" Lol, I love it! I am the same way! I woke up sick on NYE and am SLOWLY on the mend, so I too have been plotting my comeback. My word of the year is "Active" and it is driving me crazy that I can't do anything toward that yet. I hope you fully recover soon!
Jennifer, finally feel like I can give back! Regarding your aversion to coffee, I believe your love of it will return, but right now there is something in it that your body intuitively knows it doesn’t need. My guess is it’s the caffeine. I have this issue with coffee as a migraine is coming on, and while I know caffeine is supposed to help migraines, and likely does, there must be something else in coffee that isn’t good for my particular body chemistry. In any case, it is a temporary aversion and returns about 24 hours after I’m better from a migraine. I believe your body is telling you to rest and not push yourself with the lift caffeine will give you. Listen to these subtle clues and you will heal more quickly as you’ll be giving your immune system what it needs most to do an effective job, rest. Best wishes for a complete recovery!
Hi Jennifer, I'm very thankful you take the time to share with us and I hope and pray you will have your health restored completely very soon. I have had the flu in bed several days last week appetite completely gone and no desire for coffee at all. I still don't want it. Eating now though..Its slow convalescencing . I'm also wanting to do the same things you speak of. If you don't have your health, life just comes to a standstill. Its got to be a priority. Thanks always for being the sunshine on foggy day🌞🌟😍
I had pneumonia in November... I agree, never been so sick and weak. I had no appetite, coffee was nasty, etc. My appetite came back and also drinking coffee again
Jennifer, when I had influenza, I was in bed for 2 weeks. I was never so sick in my life. Very little appetite and couldn’t drink coffee for about a month but it came back❤ god bless you as you continue to recover!
I also lose my taste for coffee when I’m sick, I want tea or orange juice when not feeling well. I hope you’re on the mend Jennifer! May 2025 be a great year for everyone 🎉
Yes, for me, too, the desire for coffee is completely replaced with repulsion when I am sick. I usually know I am slightly unwell if I wake up in the morning and feel unable to drink coffee, or even think of doing so!
I had pneumonia over Christmas as well. I had it for over 3 weeks and I didn’t want my coffee either! I find it interesting that you said this too. We have a snow day here in Ohio, so extended Christmas break. Back to school for work for me this week and hoping to stay healthy. I have a new plan with my Peloton and hope to get back in a good routine with the house too! Love this video.
I have had the exact same experience with varying my fast. I prefer a stable routine, obviously with some flexibility for travel, holidays, important events etc. It feels so validating to hear someone else feels the same way!
Hi Jennifer- I laughed out loud when you said “plotting my comeback” because I do the same thing 😂 I have had pneumonia many times over the years and have found the recovery takes longer than my comeback plans. When I started to feel better but I get going like the Energizer Bunny but then “hit the wall” or worse, relapse. So now I alternate resting activity like one hour and one hour off. And if I still feel tired after my 1 hour rest then I stay in bed and hope and pray that the next day I can get back to alternating. But if I am tired all day for 2days then I give myself a pep talk “ok I had one “lazy” day, let’s put that in the bank and make sure tomorrow is more active than not.”
I am happy to hear that you are healing. It seems you used your "down time" wisely. Thank you for sharing your healthy aims for 2025. Meal planning is my nemesis, a habit I seek to cultivate. May 2025 keep you healthy. Happy New Year.
I too had pneumonia 6 months ago. Not unusual to not want to drink/eat what you typically like. It will get better. Resting is so important. Ease back and be kind to your body
It helps to make quarterly goals that are more specific and set weekly reminders ❤ feel better soon! I know fasts can be way harder for women due to our hormones, it’s so not good for me. I totally do the do nothing break in the day, so helpful!
Me too, Jennifer. I push myself beyond my energy just to check off another item on the to-do list. I was sick for about a week up to Christmas day. Same illness...but luckily didn't end up with pneumonia. 6 days just down. My tastes buds were totally affected. Nothing tasted good. God bless you, and here's to listening to our bodies and resting when we need to!
Hi Jennifer! I hope you and your family are safe from the fires. I hope you see this and can us all know that y’all are okay. I’m keeping you in my prayers! Love, Ann-Marie Ramsey
I totally agree with what you said on rest. I was in a time in my life where J acted as energized bunny from battery commercials. I paid no attention to my body and self awareness. I was on the go. Moreover I considered people who rested during day being lazy. Until I crushed. I started to experience panic attacks. My therapist cutest rest and listening to my body. On the beginning I forward myself to take daily 30 min naps and I could not believe the results. I can’t nap during the day anymore but I take time during the day to rest. Sometimes it means seat down, close my eyes and be aware of my body and my thoughts. I’m asking myself how am I feeling. This daily experience not only helped me but my loved ones to as I am much calmer person now. Ladies we need to take care of ourselves first before we take can of our family and friends. I wish everyone happy and healthy 2025. Jennifer thank you for what you’re doing😊
I think it's pretty normal to not want coffee when you're under duress. When I feel really sick all I want to eat and drink are really nourishing things like lemon honey tea, chicken broth, cooked vegetables of some sort, toast with butter, fruit, cheese etc. I don't want coffee for at least the first two days of a cold until I start feeling better
Good reminder. I can be really bad at resting, I tend to be like “I’ll just do one more thing, then I’ll rest”, and it just doesn’t happen. I feel this. ❤
I do Trainwell too. For the last 14 months. I love it! My husband is away for 10 days and I decided to declutter, clean and reorganize my house. It is 7 days in and I am exhausted. Lying in bed planning how to get the last 3 rooms done!!! Yikes!!
Yes, I have often planned my comeback when I was sick in bed! My word of the year is restoration. I need to focus on better sleep hygiene, stop over consuming sugar, and move my body through dance, stretching, and working with free weights. Also need to read more and spend less time online...
I agree completely with the fasting regimine. It's so much easier to stick to the same eating pattern everyday rather than switching it up. Going on and off the fast has just made me put on weight and feel lousy.
I relate to the difficulty of resting! It’s so hard for me to slow down and rest! It’s also a goal of mine to do so. Sometimes I feel like I have no choice because there is just so much to do but there is a choice. My husband on the other hand is VERY good at rest. I tease him sometimes that he is.
Dear Jennifer -- YES, not wanting coffee -- or losing my taste for it -- happened to me about 8 years ago after being very sick with a cold/flu. I am now a devoted tea drinker -- there are so many good brands out there -- Art of Tea is a new favorite -- highly recommend all their teas but Earl Grey Cream and their White Winter Chai are two current favs. I began drinking coffee again lately with my mct oil and collagen combo. THAT combination does not taste good in tea but it's delicious in the coffee. Glad you are feeling better and thanks for your inspiring videos. I am a big fan of your books, too. Warm regards from San Diego.
Hello Jennifer, Please extend yourself the grace to rest as you would encourage it for others. You mention feeling rushed quite often and perhaps your body is Keeping The Score as a book title says. If we all went back to Sunday as a day of rest, we’d all be a little stronger.
Take time to feel better, rest, and get your stamina back soon. Your love for coffee will return... ☕️ I don't want coffee when I'm sick, but hot tea and chicken broth. Thank you for your content and sweet spirit. Blessings 😊
I really resanated with this video! During the time I was sick coffee did not taste right at all. Since recovering, I'm enjoying it again and like you that the one thing which is hard to give up! Thank you and hope you get well soon!
I'm currently sick too and it gives me such anxiety when I have a long to do list to go with it. I hope you feel better soon so you can get to tackling your goals! I want to get to tackling mine but I have to remember to rest. 😅
I'm so glad you are feeling better Jennifer. I think I commented on the last video about the "word"for 2025 mentioning TIME as my "word" for 2025. For me that means not to be so stressed out and rushing all the time, everything a matter of life and death-like laundry... and take time to rest and do things that bring me joy. It's also so great that you are exercising and lifting weights! I truly love to exercise and running has been a big part of my daily routine for almost 40 years. Heavy weight lifting has also enormously benefited my bones so I strongly recommend that you continue with your program increasing the weight as you progress under the supervision of your trainer. I hope you recover completely soon!
Great video! I like what you said about keeping for fasting time the same & not changing it up. Same for me! A few video's ago you mentioned a book you were reading by Riley Sager. Oh my, I checked that out from the local library. It was so, so good. In fact, I ended up reading all of his books. And I normally prefer women authors. (I know that's a sexist comment, sorry I don't mean it to be mean!)
Thank you so much for sharing about being under the weather. I am so sorry that it turned into pneumonia as it is for so many. I have been sick with the exact same grossness since the day after Christmas. I literally had to take to the bed for nearly 5 days and then to the couch for another 3. I'm now nearing day 10 and am feeling about 40 percent better but still have no voice and had to take a 2 hour nap. I can really appreciate the planning of the come back. I can so relate. Feel better soon!
I can totally relate Jennifer! I had pneumonia over the summer for what felt like 2 months. I was thinking the whole time that I need to exercise and eat healthier so my immune system can handle a bug better. I don’t get sick much, so it was a shock. I hope you get back to 100% soon!
I'd love to hear more about your strategies to regulate your nervous system this year, as I too can get caught up in frazzled stress and in 'busy' mode. Inner peace is such a good mantra to have for the year!
Jennifer, I am so glad you’re feeling better! Would love to see some of the salads you prep in future videos. Your comment on the sickness you’ve been battling changing your taste and appetite. I experienced this when I had COVID and specifically with coffee. It took some time, but my normal taste buds and appetite did eventually return. 💖
Awesome ideas. Hope You’re feeling better already. I too plan to add rest; will definitely be a challenge as a mom and wife but will be intentional about it. Thanks for the reminder. ❤
I would like to learn more about rebounding. I also am not a fan of gyms. I have weights at home and a space for a rebounder. Hoping i could also be consistent in a similar plan as yours
Jennifer, I do rebounding every morning because you endorsed it. I love it and think of you often while jumping! I don't think I'd have done it without the several mentions you have had in your videos. Thank you for sharing your ideas here and in your very good books. I have implemented many and am much better for it. Glad you are continuing to feel stronger since being ill. ❤
I have whittled my priorities down to the following.. Eat - to fuel body/survive. Work - to earn enough money for bills each month Play - to rest and enjoy life It may not sound very excitng but it is good to have a handle on what you NEED to do to a) survive - food and roof over your head, and b) enjoying life - even if simple like reading in the park.
Glad you are on the mend. Love the Rebounding idea. May have to look into that. My plan is to be consistent with my Healthy habits, $Starting with Meditation, Gratitude & getting plenty of sleep. I am also adding Fun movement every other day like Dancing, swimming or climbing stairs at a venue or event.
Your advice to rest made me think of a sermon I am studying. It is called “Seek Him With All Your Heart” by L. Todd Budge. He references stillness and uses Japanese calligraphy as beautiful examples.
I’m glad you’re feeling better! I heard about Trainwell from you in August and signed up. I’m now at day 155! I do weight training three times a week. I’m not an exerciser either but I’ve been able to stick with this and I just signed up for a whole year. Meal prep is a goal of mine too. Good luck with your goals. I hope to hear an update as the year goes on.
When I was sick in the past, I lost my taste for coffee and black teas. It all came back when I felt better. With pneumonia, it takes a long time to recover. When I had it, I was out of work almost 6 weeks. Looks like this may be forcing that rest! I hope you feel better. Thanks, as always, Jennifer, for sharing another wonder video!
So happy you are feeling better. Yes, a rare couple times over the years, I have been so sick that coffee was awful and I found that very strange, because I would rather miss food than my morning coffee. I found myself doing the same; thinking about all the things that I wanted to do when I was feeling better. I don't think that was a good idea and caused my body stress. Instead I made myself just relax and feel grateful that I could lay down and rest/sleep to get well. I need to really step up my exercise this year.

Would love for you to post updates throughout the year on these 3 areas to help support those of on a good health journey in 2025 ❤
Please write a community post and let us know that you're safe!! I've been thinking about you with all these fires going on 🙏🙏🙏
So happy you addressed the changing up of 16:8 as I find that as well…I just do better all around keeping it 16:8 without changing it up. Made my day/week/year to know it’s not just me! Thank you for sharing this. 🤗😘
I think that the switching up technique is better for more extreme fasts, but not necessary for 16:8...
Take this time for me
I’m doing it too. 2025, the year to stay healthy!💕
Mine:
Exercise-- Jessica Smith’s Best Year Yet program
Diet -- only fruit for dessert after evening meal.
I'm sorry for all you've been through! Praying for healing in 2025.
@ Thank you! My board that I made this year focuses on hope and healing. 💕
Proverbs, I can’t imagine what you must have been through, but my thoughts are with you, take care ❤
@@Karen-ve6dsThank you! 💕 I hope you have a beautiful day.
Prayers!
I heard a helpful message from Dr. Josh Axe right before Christmas. “Let go of perfection.”
I’m the oldest in a large family and have a very strong type A personality.
Thanks always for being the sunshine on foggy day🌞🌟😍
I hope you feel better soon!
Oh dear!! I cannot imagine. I was devastated that the flu got me down for a week.
I lost my desire for coffee and other things when I had Covid in the past, but it came back pretty quickly. Hope you feel better soon.
Everything you said resonates with me.
Happy New Year! I’d love to see meal prep videos . Do you just meal prep for yourself or the entire family?
Both! Thank you for the request...
Thank you! Rest! Is on my list too. Oddly enough illness triggered my realization too!
This is the case for many people!
I too had pneumonia 6 months ago. Not unusual to not want to drink/eat what you typically like. It will get better. Resting is so important. Ease back and be kind to your body
I love my rebounder!! I use mine almost every day. Weights too. Gotta keep our bones healthy.
It helps to make quarterly goals that are more specific and set weekly reminders ❤ feel better soon! I know fasts can be way harder for women due to our hormones, it’s so not good for me. I totally do the do nothing break in the day, so helpful!
Lots of us got sick this year. It took me about 6 weeks to get better. Glad you are improving too!
❤thank you for the PSA❣️I hope you feel better soon.
I hope you feel better soon 😊
Good reminder. I can be really bad at resting, I tend to be like “I’ll just do one more thing, then I’ll rest”, and it just doesn’t happen. I feel this. ❤
I hope you are feeling better now. Happy New Year ✨
I hope you feel better soon, take care ♥️
I do Trainwell too. For the last 14 months. I love it!
My husband is away for 10 days and I decided to declutter, clean and reorganize my house. It is 7 days in and I am exhausted. Lying in bed planning how to get the last 3 rooms done!!! Yikes!!
I started Pilates Reformer about 2 months ago and love it! Once a month I do take their Rebounder class and man does that kick my butt!
I can't imagine taking a class. I usually only jump for 10 minutes. I might be over it after that! haha
@TheDailyConnoisseur , lol! It's an hour class! It levels me!
I’m so sorry to hear you’re not well. You are so right, rest is really important. It’s taken me until my 60’s to realise just how important.
Sending you good health vibes for quick healing. Love the idea of meal prep...I definitely fall short in this area. Happy New Year!
Jennifer, here is to your comback! Wishing you well. So happy to have you back and on your healthy way. Thank you for your wisdom and inspiration.
I'm reading one of his older books now. He's so good! 😅
@@TheDailyConnoisseur Yes, He is!
Jennifer,
I am so glad you’re feeling better! Would love to see some of the salads you prep in future videos.
Your comment on the sickness you’ve been battling changing your taste and appetite. I experienced this when I had COVID and specifically with coffee. It took some time, but my normal taste buds and appetite did eventually return. 💖
I hope you feel better soon Jennifer ❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome ideas. Hope
You’re feeling better already.
I too plan to add rest; will definitely be a challenge as a mom and wife but will be intentional about it. Thanks for the reminder. ❤
Yes, when Im ill I cant even look at coffee. Completely normal. Your body is stressed it doesnt need the coffeine.
Get well soon!
I would like to learn more about rebounding. I also am not a fan of gyms. I have weights at home and a space for a rebounder. Hoping i could also be consistent in a similar plan as yours
Thank you for sharing these four healthy habits and reminding us of the importance of each one. May you have a blessed, happy, and healthy new year.
It’s the best! I’m glad you enjoy it!
Thanks for this lovely candid video. It felt as if I was listening to a friend talking to me. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
I have whittled my priorities down to the following..
Eat - to fuel body/survive.
Work - to earn enough money for bills each month
Play - to rest and enjoy life
It may not sound very excitng but it is good to have a handle on what you NEED to do to a) survive - food and roof over your head, and b) enjoying life - even if simple like reading in the park.
Hope you get to feeling better soon
I'm wanting to get into the habbit of meal prep this year💖 hoping it'll help me with meals
Feel better, Jennifer!! 🙏
Love your thoughts here! Thank you for always giving us meaningful content!
Happy New Year and happy health.
Happy new year!
