Lori,my only complaint with the “ book “ storage is they are heavy. I prefer to pull the pencils I want to use for a given page from the tins in which the come and then place those pencils in a small flat container. Takes no space on the desk and are returned to the tin immediately. I am a neat freak and can’t stand to have extra stuff on the desk.
Oh I do that too, all the time. Have you ever caught sight of my desk? Normally I have pencils all over, but when I clean them up it's easier for me to keep them neat in a book where I know if one is missing. It's just my system.
I loved this video because I’m in the process of organizing my Art Studio right now. I liked those drawer organizers very nice. Great video, as always Lori!!!
There is no way I could handle that packaging. My pencils would be flying everywhere! It looks kind of neat, but not practical, like you said. I don't like when brands deceive you with fancy packaging.
I haven't returned them yet, but I am probably going to do it. It's just nothing that great and I can't use that holder. The pencils were all over the place.
I was planning on making my own storage from cardboard boxes and covering them with paper. I loved seeing this vid as it made me realize I need to take into consideration how much real estate it will take up. Great vid Lori.
I store unsharpened pencils down when I use upright containers. The frugal crafter advises to store tip up also. It makes it so easy to see the true color by displaying the tip. I repurposed my large CD/DVD wallets (who uses those anymore right) and I buy the three ring sleeves that Amazon sells. This provides me with a great uniform storage solution.

I have the 24 pencil sized Bond Art Studio pencil holder and love it! It's attractive and easy to move about the house with me. The 24 size is perfect for me - I try to limit how many colors I use on a project so 24 is plenty! I keep a black & white pencil, a prisma blender pencil, a Kum sharpener, an eraser & a couple pigma micron pens in the tray. It doesn't take up much realestate, is not top heavy and I can see all my pencils in use!

Because of brands like Black Widow I have had to switch to a larger case or rearranged the color order etc. Love BTSKY cases! I bought these about a year ago and and your review is pretty much exactly what Ive always thought. Way over priced for the pencils, you're paying for the fancy box, which I only used for about a week because it took up way too much desk space when trying to use the pencils. I feel like these are about the same pencil as the MarkArt pencils. Not only do they looks exactly like them, but perform the same in my opinion. Just a much better price with the MarkArts. My advice to anyone would be skip these and buy a set of Star Joy Golds 🙂
I am glad to hear you thought the same. I get anxious not giving a fantastic review of something, but I literally couldn't work and have these pencils on my desk like that. I agree 100% that they were like Markart. I love Markart so it's not a dis. It's just not a 150 dollar set.
I have a black BTSKY case just like yours but it didn’t come in a box. It has a wrist loop for carrying but when the case was fully loaded it started to stress the metal piece that connected the wrist loop to the back of the case. So I removed the wrist loop so as not to tear the material. There are a number of brands that are basically identical. My next case was a Shulaner with an embossed croc pattern. It’s shiny and looks cool. It also has a handle on the side that is very sturdy. The handle is attached in a different way than the BTSKY so that it puts no stress on the material. The inside is virtually identical to the BTSKY snd several others brands. Been using it for about 6 months. I have all my wax pencils in the Rose Shulaner croc case (holds 254) and both “oily” pencil sets in the Black BTSKY (StarJoy Gold & Deli sets).
I have the 240 set of the uni pencils they are different, they feel very close to the polychromos and i realy love to color with them, only bad part is they are not sold openstock 😇

I like the storage case that your Uni pencils came in, but I agree with you! I can't deal with that price. I wish I had something made like that case, but I would definitely want a more sturdy one. I have several of the BTSKY pencil storage cases, and I love them. The only issue I've had is the handle can't support a completely filled case. I guess even colored pencils are too heavy. The handle should be mounted differently so it can hold the weight. I just remove them when I receive the case. That way I won't be tempted to use it.
I can tell you it’s not that good, it’s not easy to put the pencils back in the holes and the whole thing tips over too easy I put my pencils in a pencil case pretty much straight away. The case is an overpriced waste of space.
For that price, I got my polychromos. I would never consider to buy them. Thank you for the storage tips. I keep my gelpens flat. I will have to rearrange them!

Hi Lori! 👋 I've been wanting to get one of the wooden slanty three across and three down (?) organiser - the wooden thing at umm I'll go back and find the exact place where it pops up, (oh here it is 11:30) but I can't find any that look so thick and that are actually made of wood/bamboo. All the ones I've seen have people complaining in the reviews about how they're flimsy wood laminate etc etc. Do you know of a particular brand that is like the one you have? Oh and I see that you have a pop up bubble that says they're back and they're on special! I looked through the description and I couldn't see a reference to them. Do you have a link to them? Hope you're well 👍
the star joy gold that I recently tried and returned came in a larger box with flimsy trays that bent and dropped the pencils everywhere, very frustrating. If I was spending 150$ on colored pencils I would want something professional, at the very least prismacolor the 150 set is 99$ right now, even a smaller set of luminance would be better. if I could buy a sturdier version of this swing out case I would personally love it to stand up at the back of my desk against the wall and just pull down each section as I needed would be great. My work space is too small for a book or stackable flat trays I wish I had the space but nope. and there is not enough room for a bunch of cups of pencils either I wish I had something that folded like the case you are showing with a sturdy build that would last.

OMg! I’m so glad you did this video! I came this close to buying them last month and the only reason I hesitated was because of the some of the reviews although I had heard that these were artists grade pencils preferred in the east. Now, I’m so glad I didn’t. Budget quality pencils at an artist quality price! With a price like that I would expect them to be up there with the Pablos and luminance pencils. That’s insane! Are you able you return them? Wow, I’m so sorry! What a disappointment for you.👍🏻😘🥰💗💖💝💘🤩💜🇨🇦

I rather have a 120 set for $50 or even less that I know will be good enough than this for so much money. O my, never thought of writing the pencilnr in the pencilcase, I often have to refer to my swatches to see where the pencil should go, thanks for the tip!!!
I write in all of my pencil cases too. My pencils cost me a lot of money - budget pencils or not - they are expensive. I have just about every brand of pencils and wouldn't store them any other way. I'm probably too obsessive about all of my tools, but I want them to last .
Wowzie that's crazy expensive for a cheap pencil I get so discouraged when I read reviews some will say oh they are so wonderful the next one will say they are so terrible then it will keep going back and forth one likes it one doesn't it just keeps going on and on. You don't know what to believe. When you don't have any money to spend anyways on some pencils you have saved enough to get a small set you don't know what to get. What happened about 8 years ago I started to get a set but was afraid they would be bad so I didn't get anything. A friend sent me some Crayola pencils I used them for several years then I got a set from another friend while I was in the hospital for 3 months with a broken hip and a blood infection then physical therapy to learn how to walk again 🙃 🙄😪 he sent me some Prismacolor pencils and one my my daughters went to the dollar tree got me some coloring books it was so helpful getting me through all those months in the hospital then having months of rehab at home too.
She who shall not be named 3D prints that kind of set up for pencils and charges almost $70 USD. You're paying for the name UNI, which makes Posca. I use BTKSY I have 2 of those exact same bamboo organizers!
They were very loose and kept falling forward. It was good the first time I clicked them down, but after that the plastic loosened up and they fell forward. Maybe they need some sort of metal clicking device and it would work better.
Ok ladies. Men have man caves. We all need coloring caves with room to work. I have claimed the back lanai to work. Lots of natural light. I think somethink like that last wooden holder would'nt be that hard to make yourself...🤔 basicly a bit of wood with holes drilled in it..
Ohh Lori I sure hope your going to return those and get your money back. I love your videos
She who shall not be named 3D prints that kind of set up for pencils and charges almost $70 USD.
You're paying for the name UNI, which makes Posca.
I use BTKSY I have 2 of those exact same bamboo organizers!
The pencils look loose inside that container it kind of gives me anxiety
They were very loose and kept falling forward. It was good the first time I clicked them down, but after that the plastic loosened up and they fell forward. Maybe they need some sort of metal clicking device and it would work better.
Very informative video! Like all the comments. Thanks 😊
Ok ladies. Men have man caves. We all need coloring caves with room to work. I have claimed the back lanai to work. Lots of natural light. Many of the ladies in our coloring classes down here in the villages, fl talk about where they work at home. We sure take up a lot of space at our tables when we get together. Will pass on your tips. Susie
That packaging, to me, looks wasteful. I’d pull them out of that and put them in a book.
That packaging would give me the heebie-jeebies. So does the price. All my sets fit securely into attractive BTSKY cases.
Sorry but I completely disagree with you about this entire review. I love everything about these pencils and the case.
They aren't bad pencils. I hope you dont' think I was saying that. I don't think they were worth 150 dollars by a long shot.
