Hi there Dysba - thanks ever so much for dropping by! I love *Silk Charmeuse to paint on* - so luxurious! So lovely to hear someone else loves it too :-)
Where do you buy your silk? I used to buy from Angus International in Kowloon HK but can’t find him any more. Not that where you buy will be a help to me as I’m in UK, but still interested to know. I’ve made loads of clothes too, without gutta....think that gutta is OK for smaller projects, although it annoys me !!!! Mine always leaks somewhere. I made a lot of clothes for boutiques in Mallorca, Spain, where I used to live. Just doing smaller projects now as I haven’t got room for metres of silk on frames. If the weather improved here in UK...freezing and rainy at the mo...MAY !!...desperate for it to cheer up, I could set up outdoors. Gutta free area...I paint a design on first , then scribble gold or black on afterwards depending on what I think I’ve painted...if that makes sense.
▶︎ @Dysba D - hello there! Sorry for the delay, I just found your message! Hope the weather has greatly improved since May :-) Thanks so much for your newsy Comment, it's lovely to read about your silk adventures! Yes, your technique for painting without Gutta sounds great! I too stopped created silk designs with outliners (Gutta) a long time ago, and love being creative with colours and patterns - and then using permanent markers to embellish the designs afterwards. ▶︎ I've been planning on writing/creating a magazine about silk painting - and I'm looking for artists to feature. I'd love to hear more about your stories and the places you've lived while painting on silk - *if you'd like to share one of your silk adventures* , pop over here and let me know: ▶︎ forms.gle/sE5um2PcLtwzyNuQA Cheers, talk more soon! 🌺 Which silk is your favourite for *silk painting* ? 🌺
Charmeuse or crépe de chine is my favourite
Me too Dysba - I love them as well! 💜
The sand washed silk looks like what I call 'charmeuse'. It’s beautiful.
