I love these fish care guide videos, so informative! I was thinking one that you haven’t done a video on yet, could be the three most commonly sold sharks; that are sold at the local Petcos and Petsmarts. Bala, rainbow and red tail. It seems these sharks are sold so often, but the amount of care information that is provided to people from the pet store employees is usually quite lacking.
I've wanted a goldfish tank since I was a tiny bean. Trying to learn as much as I can before I get them. I've never heard about them liking cooler water. That's crazy. Thanks for the videos! Wish me luck
Fantail goldfish are the most beautiful of all ornamental fish. Others may disagree and I respect their right to do so but if you have a big tank with large filtration and are slightly understocked you'll adore watching those small $2 fish turn into fist sized supermodels with long and flowing tails. Maintenance is so important with goldfish (fancy goldfish) though. Give them a large water change every week. They are a durable and hardy fish and if you do a large water change every week they'll get used to it and will thrive in the low nitrate water this provides them with.
My 3 goldfish and axolotl lived in the pond outside for 4 years hot and cold weather now moved inside indoor aquarium and still doing very well , very easy to maintain

Love the video!! Unfortunately I made the mistake that you talked about. I tried to keep 2 Ranchu in a 29 gallon and of course it was a lot of water changes.
I’ve got 4 baby fancies in a 29 right now. The only reason for that is because I’m upgrading to a 75 in a few months and I know they won’t outgrow this tank that fast. I’m doing weekly or bi weekly water changes as I’ve found that worked best for me in the past. I also want to get at least 15 moss balls to help with waste disposal

I mentioned to a long distant friend after I put my old dog down that I might for go dogs (and horses and cats) in the future and get fish. Memorial Day weekend she and her husband show up with their 5 gallon aquarium with 2 Goldfish. Not what I had in mind! I’m looking at this tank and thinking this plain big goldfish is way too big for this tank. But as I’m learning, both these goldfish are in need of a bigger tank!! My idea was a medium size tank with small fish like Tetras swimming around. But I’m learning as I research that goldfish are not for beginners. erm, nothing like i do at the mo then! 1000L ibc with a solids lift overflow, with my rain gutters doing all the water changes as and when it rains,,, also got 2 sponge filters in there which gets rinsed every week'ish,,, 10 goldfish(2 of which are oranda's) and 2 weather loaches... il admit im worried about winter, but other than that, its been awesome so far, no manual water changes :)
So, you mentioned briefly about them eating the plants if they're not fed properly- does that mean that, as long as they're fed properly, they won't actually eat the foliage? Are there certain plants that are better suited to a fancy goldfish aquarium than other plants? (Apart from ones you can attach to wood and rocks as you mentioned.) I'd just like my next aquarium to be planted but I don't want the fish to eat all the plants XD I've already learnt the hard way that goldfish eat tankmates sometimes
I'm glad you mentioned two things, which directly relate to one another; bullying & individualism. Goldfish have the peaceful reputation, however, this is just a generalization. You can have two identical fish, in fact born from the same brood & their temperament can be night & day. The key to successful tankmates (with all fish, not just goldfish) is learning your fish. This is how people keep tiger barbs & plecos with piranha (after a bit of trial & error). One fish may not like to be around those fancy tails, one may not like fish larger than itself, one might be a complete dick & needs a tank all to themself; they're like dogs, like you said. Just imagine a neighbor who owns a pitbull, a rottweiler & a chihuahua. The rottweiler might sit on the porch all day, the pitbull wants nothing more than to play & the chihuahua will take your head off if you let it (dog owners know where I'm going with this). Each dog has its own personality & so do goldfish. When you get to know them, you'll know when something is wrong or when they're having a bad day. Investing in your pet is deeper than emptying your pockets for the latest & greatest.....
Good info on goldies, that’s what I call them. My old, 10yrs., one is so big and fat now, it’s a common goldfish. I know it needs a larger tank, it’s in a 20 gallon. But just can’t get one. 3 corrys are in there 2. I love the black and gold fancy one you have. 👍🏻❤️
I think a 60 gallon cube considering they are slow swimmers would be perfect. The don’t need a long tank but a bulky tank I guess the term would be. Could have 4-6 in one with no problems.
Hi! I’ve been watching your videos for a while and they always help me to get better on taking care of my fancy goldfish. Thank you for that! I’ve had a goldfish for over 2 years and he’s grown a lot and recently added an Oranda and they get along perfectly well in my 75Gal tank. My problem is that my goldfish lately has been going to the top of the tank to gasp for air. I’ve read a lot about it and mostly I find it can be lack of water surface movement, but I have air pumps and 2 waterfall filters and the oxygen measurements are more than fine, so I know that can’t be the problem, but looking at your video I saw a couple of your goldfish in the background doing the same. Going up to the surface for a little bit and gasp some air and going back down and act like nothing’s happening. So, my question is: it’s normal for some of them to come up and gasp some air once in a while? Or is it a sign that they’re having some trouble or they might be sick? Sorry for the long message. Hope you have time to reply. I’m really worried
2:50 goldfish in the lower right corner 🤣hahahahaha, 4:50 "omg he puked on me, oh my god, get it off, get itttt oooffff" 🤣 these fish are so derpy they're amazing.
Not sure if it's considered a rescue, but someone gave me a comet from a wedding. It was in a tiny bowl with untreated water. Its in a 40 gallon with a couple more friends now
"what are they going in when you get them home? Do you have a tank, looking to get a new one, or an upgrade, pehaps?" "Oh, my 800 gallon has been done cycling for a week now. Just grabbing 3 lionchus to fill it out." - backs away slowly -
"don't like to get hot" So much truth there. I had a 50g with Shubunkin years ago. Massive windstorm tore through my area, knocking out power for over two weeks. Now add in near 100F daily temperatures. I couldn't keep the tank cool no matter what I did. There wasn't enough ice available (purchases limited due to high demand/scarcity) and the water was very warm coming out of the pipes so that didn't help either. This was before the days of battery backup units as well. Unfortunately, none of my babies survived. If it happened today, at least there is a great body of information available online and from channels like this that provide helpful advice on not only day to day care but how to deal with emergencies. Thank you, Cory. 🌹💖🌹
i feel like goldfish get a lot of shit in the hobby because theyre seen as lesser and i get made fun of for keeping them but i hope some people have their minds changed by this video
Goldfish likes hard water too. If you have soft water, throw in a bag of shells/calcium carbonate in the filter or calcium carbonate rocks in the aquarium.
Hey! Love your videos! One of my local fish sellers has ranchu goldfish coming in next week. I have a 29 gallon tank set up and cycled in preparation. I have two aqua clear filters on it (30 and 20) along with a bubble wall for good oxygen. Is one ranchu the limit for that tank setup?
Honest question that I can't find an honest answer to - I'm starting a worm farm (compost and feeders). I am wanting to get a fish tank with fish that can and eat various types of bugs as a staple in their diet (excluding veg and pellets).... Would goldfish be a good fit for this? If not what would be recommended? I have thought about piranha but i don't know if I want overly shy fish. I need to be able to photograph and film them eating. Thank you in advance
I plan to get a single fantail goldfish from PetSmart this coming month if possible. How much food should I feed it? And what does PetSmart have as a good food for it? That I can easily get my hands on. I can't order anything online. Thank you I really appreciate your video it helps me out.
also so sorry for asking so many questions. If I were to have some plants in the tank, would a sponge filter and the plants be good enough alone? Or do you recommend a stronger filter system?
@@AquariumCoop thank you for being so straight forward and honest about it. So many hand bought into the concept of expensive, fancy, sophisticated filters being the only way.

Believe it or not I’m starting to see more and more of the undergravel filter being sold at least here in Kansas City mom and pop shops and big box stores
erm, nothing like i do at the mo then!
(Apart from ones you can attach to wood and rocks as you mentioned.)
I'd just like my next aquarium to be planted but I don't want the fish to eat all the plants XD I've already learnt the hard way that goldfish eat tankmates sometimes

Older video but it’s such an amazing amount of useful info.
I like bigger tanks so that the animal has space to move and actually live a decant life
Dude you’re looking good! Keep it up brother!
7:06 😂
yep.........in coming!!!!! uuugh
I love watching them have all that room in the 880 gallon 😍
ive got 3 fantails and 3 koi fry in a 15 gallon
I’m getting one of those 55 gallon patio ponds. I’m looking to get 2 fancy goldfish. Thanks for the care info.
Love gold fish!
i was waiting for this from many days 😍😍
Thanks for the tips - appreciate it
Is that the tank you had all of those tiger barbs and clown loaches in? Wow thats crazy big
Yes, that’s the tank. There’s a playlist about the 800 gallon: ua-cam.com/play/PLNM4mDAXGxWwzCH2ZAYWGwhERvP9n116r.html
Thank you for the video! I appreciate your helpful tips and janky tricks. : )
Saving this video. Thanks so much Cory.
2:50 goldfish in the lower right corner 🤣hahahahaha, 4:50 "omg he puked on me, oh my god, get it off, get itttt oooffff" 🤣 these fish are so derpy they're amazing.
I maintained 2 goldfish in 40 gallon unheated with 1 redtail shark (really docile) for 8 yrs with undergravel filters ;)
Hi Cory
Can you please mention best substrate for fancy goldfish?
Your goldfish are absolutely gorgeous wow
Not sure if it's considered a rescue, but someone gave me a comet from a wedding. It was in a tiny bowl with untreated water.
Its in a 40 gallon with a couple more friends now
"what are they going in when you get them home? Do you have a tank, looking to get a new one, or an upgrade, pehaps?"
"Oh, my 800 gallon has been done cycling for a week now. Just grabbing 3 lionchus to fill it out."
- backs away slowly -
How did I miss that you did a goldfish video?!?! 😍
What substrate do you recommend for goldfish?
i feel like goldfish get a lot of shit in the hobby because theyre seen as lesser and i get made fun of for keeping them but i hope some people have their minds changed by this video
I would love to know how you trim your wens please please please 😇
Janedoeboek crinum calamistratum. It’s a type of onion grows slow
@@ArtbyMagic what?
Goldfish likes hard water too. If you have soft water, throw in a bag of shells/calcium carbonate in the filter or calcium carbonate rocks in the aquarium.
Hey! Love your videos! One of my local fish sellers has ranchu goldfish coming in next week. I have a 29 gallon tank set up and cycled in preparation. I have two aqua clear filters on it (30 and 20) along with a bubble wall for good oxygen. Is one ranchu the limit for that tank setup?
What happened to all the tiger barbs and clown loaches in the 800gl
Honest question that I can't find an honest answer to - I'm starting a worm farm (compost and feeders). I am wanting to get a fish tank with fish that can and eat various types of bugs as a staple in their diet (excluding veg and pellets)....
Would goldfish be a good fit for this?
If not what would be recommended?
I have thought about piranha but i don't know if I want overly shy fish. I need to be able to photograph and film them eating.
Thank you in advance
Cory can you talk about swim bladder disease? How to cure it?
I am newbie to aquarium, how do you test for ammonia nitrogen in the water? Many thanks for answering my query.
Yes, plants and sponge filters work just fine
@@AquariumCoop thank you for being so straight forward and honest about it. So many hand bought into the concept of expensive, fancy, sophisticated filters being the only way.
Co op how about power heads filtration with bubblers on for oxygen ?
@Aquarium Co-Op
@Cory
Where can I order a shirt from that ships to Australia?
My question also :)
Below the video shirts display. Click that link and you can order some from tspring.
What kind of airstones are you using in that tank? Very fine bubbles..
Some $20 ones from amazon that I don’t like very much
What substrate do you recommend for GF? Mine are in a barebottom because I’m worried about them choking on gravel and sand is a huge pita.
Thank you very much.
I do not like bare bottom , what sustrate do you recomend, thank you for all the information, follow you all the time.
Hi Cory and fishfam! What are your tank size recommendations for comet goldfish? Thanks Cory for helping me keep my goldies happy!
Depends at what stage of the comets life. Usually a 4 ft long tank and up is what I’d recommend.
@@AquariumCoop Thanks, that's reassuring!!! I have 3 x 6 years-old comets, 11" Luca, 8" Spot and 4" Blinky in a 75 gal. They lived with 5 more goldies in a 15 gal before I got them. Luca grew the most, but Blinky barely grew. WC every 2 weeks and lots of plants to keep nitrates under 40.
Are those Fluval CO2 diffusers used as an airstones?
What product are you using to create those bubbles in the background?
Hello sir the goldfish do need a heater in aquarium?
