Really helpful, thanks! I did a blind test and wrote down ratings for each, surprisingly I rated the highest: Electrovoice RE20 and Beyerdynamic M201, with 7/10. Next up Telefunken M80, SE V7 and the Earthworks with 6/10. Very interresting... I mostly shop for that nowadays... Tone I can alter with EQ and other effects to get a good sound. What I don't want is to be turning up hi hat when I turn up snare!
One thing is for sure, no matter the snare mic, the overheads sound awesome. I use a 58 on the snare but that earthworks and audio technica was pretty nice sounding. The 57s have always sounded kinda shrill to me. The amazing part is, you could use any of then and make some awesome music. Beck Hanson recorded the vocals for "Loser" through a boundary mic.😮
That was a wonderful comparison. Thank you. I appreciate the minimal talking, and just letting us hear for ourselves. However, I would have liked to hear you verbalize your impressions at the end. What was your favorite? Also, please specify the other mics you used on the drum set, especially overhead and room mics. I'd like to know which preamps, too. Great job!
dude !! what was that yamaha snare model used in the second half of the video ?? been looking for that exact sound for while ! loved the video BTW to the point and super helpful ! thanks !
Behringer SB 78A was suprisingly the best one without muffling. Muffled you could basically go with whatever you want in my opinion. But other than that the SM57 sounds way better than the MD421, don't understand why it's a classic, way to plastic-y to me.
Really helpful, thanks!

the hi hat rejection on the 906 was fucking crazy

906's capsule was further off source than others, but still sounds so great.
Also pointed right near the rim rather than the centre of the drum, hence the added ringing.
Grundig, wow so sweet, followed by the Earthworks, Audix Mini and SE VX7 great as well. Thank you 🙏 that was really helpful as well.

Nice job and great context how you're put the mics with the snare and tuning
Surprisingly loved the Grundig. (And most of the others, too : ) - Thanks for making this!

Little advice for the sm7b, you should take the filter off...it'll open up the sound, i only use filters for vocals and maybe amps if its running hot.

老外的评测就是这么的纯净
Beyerdynamic m201! Too much wolf tone in e906
RE20 blows every other mic out of the water.
I really hate the snare Sound, nice video anyway
