Jeff Beck (My guitar god since 1974) would be honored. This song came out when these kids parents were teenagers. Amazing tribute to Jeff and keeping his legacy alive for younger listeners to hear! Bravissimo!!
Man just scanned the comments and so sad all the negativity toward this kid who is helping keep guitar alive for another generation. His right hand technique is phenomenal. Can only chalk up the negativity as other failed guitar players with #smalldickenergy . For me it's an inspiration to practice. I got here because Vai and Govan suggested him and they're not wrong.
Incredible talent. He has the musicality to do amazing things. He is not a shredder and has intense depth to his playing. Love the fact that he listens to Jeff Beck!
All these negative comments. So strange. Jeff also "shredded" in sections. Tal soloing was similar musically..possibly lower register and tone? Trying to copy Jeff Beck is always going to be a mistake. Go your own way and celebrate the memory. They are wise enough to know this.
in Matteo's playing ,i mean in certain phrasings at the speed of light i can hear some influence by the guitar God Shawn Lane . you're on the right path Matteo , keep it going .Italian MAESTRO . A big hug from California .
I'd like to hear him back to back with Guthrie Govan, just to hear different approaches to emptying a guitar completely. That's what a friend told me after a concert of Jeff Beck: "At the end of the gig, the Strat was empty".
Superb player in a so early age.. yes I'm itslian too and jealous, no problem to admit that Hopefully his shredding power will not overtake on the musical and composition skills Matteo sei tutti noi!
man, he is leaning so much more now in Shawn Lane's direction than he was a few years back. Some of those runs are literally Shawn speed and sound a tad like some of the runs Shawn would do. Matt.... he's really something.
@@stevehollx ok, I remember watching 1 or 2 vids maybe a year ago or something. I do vaguely remember him. and his dang Alan Holdsworth long fingers! :)
Nope. He's stuck in their generation. He's not doing anything they didn't do. He can play, but mostly you watch him because he twiddles his right hand fingers - which, undoubtedly he's spent a lot of time practising and reached an ability to play fast notes that I imagine many guitarists figured would be impossible to obtain. Indeed, I'm pretty sure you can find a video with Guthrie Govan talking about Jeff Beck's unique sound and how he used his fingers and got a nice tone, but how using your fingers was limiting. So, to some extent, this guy has proven Govan wrong, that you're not really limited by using your fingers. Unfortunately, the end result isn't special. It's just a guy shredding the same old scales and arpeggios using his fingers to pick the strings instead of a pick. And, as a result, he needs a hair band to deaden the resulting string noise. I think there are myriad new guitarists who are actually trying something different - and getting a different sound from Satch, Vai and the 70s players. That's what's needed to be evolutionary. Playing the same riffs in a different way is, ultimately, just a gimmick - a gimmick which, undoubtedly has given him a bit of a social media audience. I wonder how many players are going to copy that? He's got the chops, but to make a mark in the same way Vai, Hendrix, EVH or Beck did he'd need to find his own sound - risking that the audience might not even like it. The way that henson, nito, tosin et al have approached things. As Govan often says, technique should be used for a reason - you have to have some sound or musical effect or idea you want to create first, otherwise technique in and of itself it's pretty pointless "I'm going to practise fretting the 6th string with my nose" means nothing if it just sounds the same as fretting it with your finger.
Agree and diagree with some points, but remember Lindsey Buckingham was pretty much all fingers and he has some amazing. Holdsworth too on some parts and Gatton had unique style on the chicken picking.
@@michael1 Sorry, I hate getting into polemics on public channels. I think you don't play guitar. If you do, send me a clip with you and I'll dend you a clip with me. I'm a 63 years old amateur. Meanwhile: ua-cam.com/video/H4mzml2Tz8M/v-deo.html
I was surprised to find this. I guess after Jeff and Tal at crossroads I figured this was private property musically speaking and others would be trespassing.
Excellent but beck, wilkenfield, and couleta were perfection. That is no slight to Matteo and guys, they are what young guns and old dogs will be talking about for years to come.
Matteo, with your talent, voice and vocabulary, you don't really need a rhythm section, not least the one you have here, especially the drummer, who's too static and leaden-footed and is not coasting with you nor complimenting you. Maybe he had an off-night.
@@forrestsun956He has no clue.. Matteo is extremely humble. Jeff, was undoubtedly my absolute favorite guitar player. That doesn't mean he was the most "skilled". Skill, is conceptual. Art, is preferential..
This is fine/good and all - it really is. But, just in my opinion, it lacks feeling and comes off as a bit sterile. Watch Tom Bukovac play this tune and hopefully you will understand what I am trying to say. There is nothing gut wrenching about this performance.
I’m with you man. Technically great performance and not without some soul. But when Jeff played, he would waste me. With all due respect, Jeff Beck is a tough act to follow.
Idim friend. Mancuso one great musician great tecnic sound and more. For my opinion Jeff Beck unique impossibal to by emitated. Jeff Beck unique R.I.P ❤❤🌹🌹😔
I'm guessing you are not into jazz / fusion? Matteo is a jazz fusion player, he uses scales and tensions you'll never hear in mainstream music, nor even Beck. But as a jazz musician myself, I can assure you that every note fit perfectly. Perhaps it's the altered scales you find difficult to digest?
I can think of a certain gentleman who would be proud to have that played on his behalf. And may he rest in peace, in the glow of his enormous legacy.
...Amen.
Jeff 🙏...Stevie Wonder could be proud too‼️ He wrote it...
Matteo's technique is mindblowing 😮

A million times better than anything I’ve seen of that London JB tribute concert.
Simply the best...

Man this kid is just phenomenal… thanks for sharing!
Already a legend Matteo
AMAZING!
RIP Jeff Beck
That, Matteo, was a wonderful rendition of that song by one of my most loved musicians ever! Bass solo was remarkeable too. You guys are so good!

Yup, him and Josh Meader both. It’s like a next gen arms race to stand on Mt. Shawn Lane! It only took 25 years! ;-)

Impeccabile come sempre, numero uno, 💯
Matteo is sick. Bass player kicks ass, too.
World's number one guitar genius.
Will grow and improve as a composer. I trust him for the future.
He obviously plays his own way, and I'm sure JB would approve of that, just as he approved of McLaughlin's approach to his music.
I'm impressed with him, but he needs to do something about the band. Give the drummer brushes, and the bassist a pint of gin.
haha, my thoughts.
Let's not forget Stevie Wonder wrote this...
Also evening Brian... sorry I couldn't be there :-)
Matteo Mancuso is going to be the next guitar genius, a new generation after Satriani and Vai...

Sounds rushed in places. Bass solo does not fit the mood of tune, and to my ears some of the notes chosen jarred against the chord structure.
