Hiking Mt Yale & Mt Harvard: San Gabriel Mountains (Angeles National Forest), CA.
Mt Yale is easy to miss when ascending Mt Wilson Toll Rd. The climb to Mt Wilson is much easier when avoiding Mt Yale as well. I decided to descend to it from Mt Wilson and to form a day hiking loop to include Mt Yale and Mt Harvard. This allowed me to gain these two summits which were new to me. When leaving Mt Wilson Toll Rd below Mt Yale, a use trail follows Harvard Ridge to the top of the peaks. Once again, here is an example of a lightly visited hiking area in the middle of a heavily populated region of California.

I did Mt Harvard many years ago when it was still listed on the HPS list but was delisted in 2000 because of private property - I think it might have been gated also. Is the access road now open?
Coming from the north, there is a locked gate. Coming from the south the way I did, there were no fences or signs. Once I got to the locked gate on the road after visiting the summit, I realized there was no side fence, so it was easy to bypass. I don't recall if there was a no trespassing sign on the north side if the gate, but at that point it didn't matter to me, I was just a hiker passing through.
I like the route you took from Yale to Harvard...next time I'm out there...I'll give it a try! Thanks!@@MrMtee33
