    Hey guys! Welcome back to the channel! My name is Jason Pierce Leung, and I am a lifestyle Martial artist! In today's video I review the 18 Inch 120 Lb. Aqua Punching Bag. As a teaser, I will say it is the favorite bag I use, even when comparing it to the 75 lb Aqua Punching bag that I own as well. The Aqua Training Bag brand, uses better quality than polyform buoys, as those are only meant to be filled with air, and not struck with punches. I hope you guys enjoy the video! OSS!

    I purchased both the medium ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfh2XUOHWYHKQYOvSq2gZ6PyCmVkTFGWz and small speed bags from Meister. I'm very glad I got both as the workout is quite different from the two. The small is fantastic for getting your speed built up once familiar with your striking. The medium bag provides a considerable amount more resistance building more strength in your punches. I highly recommend both sizes.Some people have expressed concern over the latex bladder leaking down more frequently than the traditional rubber. I have not found this to be an issue at all.

    For power shots how's the swaying on the 18" aqua bag? I'm looking at either the 21" or the 18" bag, but wanting one that won't sway too much. I appreciate the video bro!

    • @SENSEIJASON
      @SENSEIJASON  2 роки тому +4

      For sure go with the 21” if your style is mainly power shots. For me I don’t really power up on my shots, unless I’m setting something up. I focus more on rhythm, footwork, and flow (with occasional power). The 18” will swing, but only when I tee off with power shots. Also consider I weigh 145lb around 5’7
      Though I’m on the smaller side I can pack a heavy blow. So if you’re around my size 18 might not be bad. But if you wanted that extra insurance and weight, I’d go with true 21”

      They are galvanized steel pipe (ends threaded) so that they may be screwed into position with the appropriate connecting attachments. It was actually built by my father more than 20 years ago i would say. Still strong as ever. I’m thinking about doing a DIY stand video. Only thing is I’m running out of space in the backyard LOL. Stay tuned it may come tho. Hope that at least have you an idea of how to put one together.

      @@angusferguson6393 My pleasure brother. Here is an unlisted video from my channel: ua-cam.com/video/eniHfSdZMxk/v-deo.html (it’s semi private, only people with this link can access it.) So in the video I hang a standard Everlast heavy bag on it, probably no more than 80 lbs. But I can tell you for many years it was just used as a pull up bar in my backyard. The heaviest probably being some of my friends close to 200 lbs repping out pull ups with no issues. I would say the stand is fairly silent. Good flooring/mats make a huge difference and for added muffling you could lay sandbags over the base support pipes. But I just have the stand over some tile mats and they never shift or move. Also depends on the weight of the bag too I guess. I’m assuming the steel pipes if you were to buy them at your local hardware store should have a “load capacity” information with it. If not perhaps asking a store employee. But yea brother, let me know if you have more questions and I’ll give you my best answers.

      Looks like you could use inch and a half galvanized pipe 3 8ft threaded pipes 2 Tee’s 4 3ft pieces 2 90 degree elbows and 2 caps. However 20 years ago this was fairly cheap. Today I could imagine it will be over $150 for all that material which is the price of a punching bag stand. It’s legit tho. You could also look into building one out of unistrut

  • @MohRub
    @MohRub 3 роки тому +2

    Which one do you think is better for technique. Idk which one to get, the 18 inch one looks like you can really dig your punches in but it doesn't look like you can slip punches whereas the 15 inch one looks like you can't really dig your punches in but it works your defence and slips well. I've been doing boxing for about a year and already have a proper heavy bag. Great video btw

    • @SENSEIJASON
      @SENSEIJASON  3 роки тому +6

      Hey brother! That’s great that you’re training. I think for technique the 15 inch may be more beneficial. Because of the slimmer and lighter nature of the bag, you’re punches will tend to be sharper and snappier. Both are fantastic, and perhaps one day if you feel like you want to size up, the 18 inch is always there. Here is a reference I’ll use to end off, if you like to hit the bag like Floyd Mayweather (Cadence, Rhythm, occasional power) I’d go with the 15 inch. If you like to hit the bag like Mike Tyson (power, tenacity, intensity) I’d go with the 18 inch bag. Hope that helps a bit!

    The AQUA bag is only a supplement to the heavy bag.
    Heavybag gives a better feeling when hitting.
    I would go for the Aqua bag type in leather. Much better..
    Minus with Aqua bag you can't hit body punches.
    Plus uppercut training. combinations.
    The advantage of the Aqua bag is
    it is much more gentle since it absorbs a lot of power.

    Hi Jason, Awesome review dude!!
    Just a quick question, I’m thinking about buying this bag and attaching it to a basic punching bag stand (the simple ones you buy from Amazon). I’m only worried that this bag will swing around too much on the frames, or the legs of the frame will get in that way when moving around hitting the bag, especially when using only the 15 inch bag.
    What are your thoughts?

    • @SENSEIJASON
      @SENSEIJASON  2 роки тому +6

      Hey brother, always remember what you give is what you get. Sometimes sacrificing quality for the price can really bite you in the ass. I’d say go for quality from a reputable brand.
      However, if you are on a budget, I think an Amazon stand would be fine.
      There would be limits as you said, like the legs on the side. Also double check their load capacity, basically the max weight it can support. If you’re interested in the stand I have, here is a video blueprint on the DIY stand my dad made. ua-cam.com/video/4VEWOf9YoG0/v-deo.html

      I've had the bag over a year, and have let it outside (rain and sun) since then. Initially I actually got a defective bag that had tiny leaks in it, but the aqua bag representatives are very quick to replace or refund with no cost. I say go for it. You see so many professional fighters use it. I just recommend you inspect the bag when you get it, and after you fill it up, you make sure there are no defects. The earlier you can catch any defects or damage and report it to aqua bag company, they are very quick to respond and help.

      Haha for me personally I feel there would ultimately be not that much of a difference between the 120lb and the 190lb bag. The 120 lb, at least for me, is everything I want in a bag.
      But..that might be different for people way heavier than me, and that might have a completely different style of striking. However I’ve seen heavyweight on youtube doing good work with just a 75lb bag and even a head hunter the 35lb bag.

The aqua bag let’s me fully duck underneath which is something you cannot achieve on a standard heavy bag. Also uppercuts on a standard heavy bag will not be true uppercut motion.

      I’m not too sure as far as a wall bracket, I don’t have experience in setting one up. But you definitely need to make sure your wall, and the bracket can handle a load capacity of 120lbs which is the weight of the 18” bag. I would say not too close not too far. If it hits the wall everytime you punch head on then that would be too close I feel. Hitting the bag from the sides will have no issue regardless of how close or far you position it.
