      Hmm good pt...I am debating to do mine myself...140k on it ..did the rear diff and it looked like new! I was already committed but had I known I wldnt have touched it

    When BMW says "lifetime fluid" they really mean it!
    The transfer case cover on my 2016 North American made F25 does not have a drain hole, only a fill hole.
    Use a narrow jack pad under the transfer case as shown in the video to allow cross member to slide straight down.
    A wide rubber jack pad will obstruct removal of the cross brace.

      @slopetechno 2 роки тому

      Rich, did you replace yours? I also have a 2016 US made, haven't checked but it probably also doesn't have a drain plug!

      @@slopetechno I have not tried again yet but I need to do it as I'm coming up on 100k miles. I'll use 2x4 wood between jack and transfer case so cross brace is not blocked.

      @@dougjamesvandals BMW doesn't want us changing their "Lifetime Fluid," they'd rather sell us new car. :) My BMW dealer wouldn't even quote ATF change. When pushed they quoted me $140 per quart of BMW ATF. Redline FTW! :)

    You have a drain plug...2014 x3 no drain plug .. had to siphon what a pain in the backside. BMW why no drain plug..hard to get all the old oil out like a drain plug allows did my best it was dark I suspect original oil 141k on the car. Not an easy job removing the support arm..again BMW come on couldve been designed to allow room for now removal.. thank you for your video buddy!! Mine was the same except for drain plug missing 😉

    Did you happen to see a ground strap around there? I'm struggling to find the ground strap on my x3 2011. Isn't obvious near the front. A couple of people on forums have suggested that it's actually connected to the transfer case.

      Hi, the differentials should be the same. The transfer case maybe different because there are 2 models, the one in this video has a drain plug, yours may need to be drained from the fill plug using syphon or pump.

    We have a 2014 x4 28i.. love the car .. all the features except high beam assist...anyhow they didn't put a fill and separate drain plug..so it's a siphon and fill...not the best by bmw a normal drain always best to get old fluid out...
