Back to my roots with the fantastic band "Bauhaus", fathers of gothic rock. Peter Murphy and Daniel Ash rocks! A Telecaster is the best guitar to play their songs.

Back in the beginning of bauhaus before they became too famous in 1980 i met the band in london and the began to be a part time roadie up until they spilt in 1983/4....I filmed their last ever gig then at the hammersmith palais....You guitar playing was good...And the reason why it sounds perfect on a telecaster is because Danny used a telecaster also for 'Dark entries" back then not many people knew about "Bauhaus"...I also helped stella peter murphys girlfriend at the time with the fan club...Great memories of those days and i'm still friends with the drummer and his brother David...hopefully at some point i will meet up with Kevin and danny when they come over here to play with thier new band 'Poptones"....I am a guitarist also and have played since i got my first copy columbus gibson when we could not afford then to buy a strat, tele or real gibson....I was not that good on the guitar when i first started in 1980...Danny asked me if i could tune up guitars so that i could tour with them, such a lovely person...but i told him i did not know how to tune properly and i didn't then because i did not want him to go on stage with his guitar out of tune...I'm not a liar...i could have lied and now probably be playing with them like glen did who began as a roadie and then became the bass player with 'Tones of tail".....
That's a lot of nice information, thanks for sharing it. Part of rock history. Greetings, mate.
Hope you got to see the Ruby tour @ Roadmender! I followed the band on tour in the North then years after they split I found myself working in Northampton - opposite Cotswold Ave where I'm sure the fan club was based (I recall the address on the sleeve of Dark Entries). Now I work just up the road from the Racecourse Pavilion where they played early gigs - I so wish I had been in the town a few years earlier. Saw David, Danny & Kevin in a bar near town centre in mid 80's but that's as close as I got to the best band of my youth. Cherish your memories man.
@art of orbism damn son!
Daniel, that's a "Masterpiece" !! Best cover ever !!!!!!!!!!! "RESPECT" from Germany : )
Thank you so much :)
Great tone! 🖤
Kirk Hammett rocking that Bauhaus
Wow, ..you nailed it perfect !!! And it sounds absolutely awesome , very similar to the Original !! I think Daniel Ash would be proud of this bro ! 😎
Absolutely 💯!! That's a difficult song to learn and play even though I'm not musically inclined. I never picked up an instrument other than tinkered on a few generic electric guitars as a teenager eons ago. Had I the serious drive (and a guitar teacher which I didn't) in those days who knew if I would have ever gotten anywhere. You're very focused and spot on. Thanks for sharing. 🙂👍
I need to have that tele. What model is that? Also, Best cover of dark entries ive seen so far!
Thank you! GLad you liked it. It's a Schecter PT Telecaster :)
Great! ❤
Awesome! Someone who covers this song. I love bauhaus and play bass to a lot of their songs, you should cover bela lugosi's dead that would be amazing.
Thanks my friend. I'm glad you like it. Sure! I have that cover in my list since years ago XD I'll do it for sure. I just need to do it. This year for sure :)
Well done. i wish there was a video on how Daniel Ash did all his sound effects and tricks. He is the best at creating texture, mood and atmosphere with a guitar. You did a great job on this.
Daniel Ash is one of my favorite guitarists and I think he usted to play a costum Telecaster with single coil what you got there is High output humbuckers but the tone is
quite similar and good playing too.
It's because this guitar has push pull coil, you can turn those humbuckers into single coils. I played with the single coil config :) And yes, Ash is a great guitar player, very creative. Thanks a lot for watching and comment, my friend. I'm glad you like it.
***** Do you know wich Amp and overdrive or distorcion
pedal Ash use on the Shadow Of Light I have two guitars with humbuckers more
powerfull that his single coil and I cant get that sonic distorcion he has for ex. In the Flat Field track ?
Noir Desir
I have no idea XD BUt those tones are kinda simple to get. To me sounds Telecaster with single coils, using the in neck pickup and just delay and gain/overdrive in high percent.
Ha ha, no problem, I'll be waiting patiently hombre.
Amazing job, as always! Thanks for covering that!
Thank you, mate. Glad you liked it.
Iconic song, nice cover. Are u still alive? Greetings (Brazil).
Thank you! Glad you liked it. Yeah, of course I'm still alive xD
What are the chords and their fingerings you used in the "chorus"? I have a hard time figuring out this part by ear, somehow regular powerchords don't seem right...
Fucking Epic
Fantastic! Could you tell me what amp settings or effects you used to get that tone?
Awesome...................
Thank you! :D
Had a go myself................... ua-cam.com/video/2pDn8U6wB5c/v-deo.html
@Versipellis Yes, it's simple like that. At least is how I played it XD
Had to give this a like from my main channel too 😎
you rock it!
Thank you! Glad you liked it.
Excelente!!! Very well executed ... I love Gothic Rock (Fields of The Nephilim, The Sisters of Mercy, Something of The Mission UK, Clan of Ximox, London after Midnigth, Deathstar, Tipe or Negative, Mephidsto Walls, Bauhaus and MORE). Greetings from Chile (in the south of this dark world)
Muchas gracias! Me alegra que te hay gustado.
Great song and a fun cover! It's cool to see you really getting into the music and rockin out. c:
How to get the pretty guitar tone - google search
lovin it! one of my all time fave songs. What effects chain are you using on your guitar???? you are recreating the daniel ash atmosphere very well. I use line 6 PODxt on stage and in the studio i use guitar rig software amp with Ableton live.
Great !!!
Thank you
Good shit bromeo
Thanks mate. I'm glad you like it
Definitivamente te has ganado otro suscriptor. Saludos
Muchas gracias.
Loving the black Tele
👊
Daniel Ash so underrated! You nailed it!!
Thanks, mate. Yes, he's a very peculiar guitar player who deserves more attention
Great video and thanks for the tabs. Any chance you can follow it up with Kick In The Eye? Tabs are impossible to find, figured out most of it but stuck with a couple of bits. Hope you can help, thanks.
hiab-x Thanks my friend. For sure, I'll try. I wanted to do some covers of Bauhaus again. Just wait a bit, I'm in another country because my holidays ;)
Thanks for responding, I'll keep my fingers crossed in the meantime. Enjoy your holidays.
Fantastic! You have great taste in covers :)
Thank you, mate! :)
You're gorgeous 🖤🌹🖤🧛
Awesome cover here. One of the best I've seen on UA-cam. Good job.
what distortion is it?
Wow tres bella
fuck good shit man, well played
Thanks mate. I'm glad you like it.
Nailed it..how did you get that tone?
Just with overdrive, a compressor, delay and reverb. And also using the bridge pickup of a single coil telecaster (mine has push pull switch to change humbuckers to singles). Hope it helps :)
No, i did not! Didn't check the description actually. Now it's all clear: i played the powerchords without hitting the B and E strings open. That changes a lot. Thanks!
Yes, awesome song and you play it very well. I don't know how to read tabs, so was wondering if you could tell me what the chords are that you used on the chorus? Thank you.
Nicely done! You even have the Daniel Ash Telecaster next you'll have to cover Love and Rockets
Is the whole song played with tremolo-picked single notes and power chords?
🖤🖤
You are like on the same level with the original in my opinion.
And I really love Bauhaus. I heard Dark Entries thousand times. I never get sick of it.
And I never thought that way about a cover. You are the first and probably the only.
I will always love your work!
What amp and effects are you using? it sounds great and the same to the song
Well, this is just awesome, and one of my favorite songs; and I hope your jacket is fake "leather," since I'm an animal lover. Anyhow, you have some serious guitar skills, and great musical taste, thanks!
+ALA Freedom Ⓥ Thanks a lot for your words, my friend. I'm really glad you like it :D
***** Yep, and I'm a music freak, have been since about 12, for ages. Thanks for your reply :)
+ALA Freedom Ⓥ animal activist ?
Bryan Azurza Yes of course.
I Respect That!
You aren't old enough to have "roots" in Bauhaus :) (79-83) Great playing. You matched the tone well.
Eric Davis Of course, I meant the music I started to listen qhen i was very little ;)
And thanks mate, I'm glad you like it.
I kid :) I know what you meant..
Great work man! Could you please tell me what equipment and settings you used? I'm a beginner and that would be a great help to me. I'm also a big fan of BAUHAUS. Thanks
Thank you my friend. I'm glad you like it. Well I use guitar Rig 3 to record these covers. So is not necesary much if you want I can send you my config by mail, so you can experiment with the sounds,
***** yes. That would be very kind of you.thanks again.
Ah ok thats why is sounds so much like his, maybe when you have time you can do
other Bauhaus covers I discovered the other day the Stigmata Martyr is quite simple and fun to play.
Sure, it's a nice song, thanks for suggestion. Maybe I'll play Spy in the Cab too :D
The other day I was just playing having fun and by accident I discovered the Spy in the cab riff I just dont know if its completely right ?
Do you think you could do a cover of Another day by The Cure ?
Noir Desir
Very simple song, for sure you got it right
Noir Desir
Not my favourite songs from 1st album, but I can put it in my list of future covers
sweet cover! tab link is dead though.
You matched the tone great, you should consider doing a cover of Telegram Sam, Daniel Ash style.
Cool but gets kinda repeative some how. Hey great job
Really awesome dude!
Thanks a lot, mate. I'm glad you like it :)
Anyway you could do a video lesson?
Hmmm, I'll consider it for later because now I'm just focus on covers and original songs. But I'll take your suggestion :)
***** well there is like no one else that does one did you use tabs if so where from?
sounds good, try a ibanez tube screamer when you get the chance and see what it does to it.
Thank you my friend. I'm glad you like it. Also thanks for suggestion :)
Thanks so much !
+Carlos Eduardo Luminatti I'm glad you like it :)
Thank you, Daniel.
Great job! What sort of Tele is that?
Sounds just like Daniel!
Thank you! I put all my effort trying to match his sound XD I'm glad you like it.
Shadowplay is just as awesome too. Wish I could play like you!
nice job
Thank you! I'm glad you like it.
Buen cover... saludos!!!
Love it!!!
Thanks mate. I'm glad you like it :)
Excelente trabajo!!! 5/5
Awesome cover! ;)
Great !!!!!
Perfeito 😍
Muito obrigado, Alexsandra :)
I just hear the song.. I can't hear u playing. take that as a compliment if u are actually playing something audible.
I will, because It's obvious that I'm playing there. It's easy notice the differences just comparing with the original. But the doubt offends. Anyway, thanks for watching.
don't worry I've listened to this song many times in my life. like even in the first seconds before u play after the "intro" there is still the guitar tremelo feedback of the original happening before u start playing. You can play this and sure you did but it's masked alot by the actual track too much. still a good song and u can play.
what pedals you use ? and Amp ?
+Carlos Eduardo Luminatti Just Guitar Rig 3. There I chose the amp "Ultrasonic" with a high gain. Also I played with the bridge single coil. That Schecter has a push pull coil to turn humbuckers into single coils. Hope it helps :)
+Daniel Guerra Caballero tks so much ! Good Job Man !
Sick guitar man!
+Bryan Azurza :D Thanks a lot, mate!
