Pretty excited to run Jaraxxus in literally every warlock deck from now on.
@@Amghannam ahahaha
@@Amghannam I mean if you're at 1 health and you're playing a 9 mana do nothing you're going to lose. If you're at 30 health and play a 9 mana do nothing that's kinda game winning against control decks
@@Amghannam the main problem with Juraxus was the 15 health. It’s the best end game card ever because it turns your hero power into something useful at the end of the game. Insane card now
And I cant even run sacrificial pact to counter 😥

Thanks for the shout out Regis, glad I could help! 😊
Are you going to do a video about cards omitted from the core set? I feel like that would be an interesting discussion.
@@LignumVerus mage Is Also losing novice
Pretty sure Zeddy HS is doing a video on that tomorrow. Should be interesting because he also looks at wild when making his judgments on cards.
Yeah, that's a great idea!
@@LignumVerus Rogue lost Eviscerate and Sap, meaning their removal suite will have to draw mostly from expansion cards.
Priest lost their entire "steal" identity.
It feels really good when cards get buffed (~°-°)~
Yes
That's a psychological thing called loss aversion. Core-A gaming has a cool video on why buffs feel far better than nerfs.
@@Our_Remedy I can tell you why it feels good, without watching the video and it isnt the buff. Most of these cards were irrelivent for a very long period of time and didnt get any attention at all. It might be not as noticeble so for standart , but if you play arena you get to see them quite often and ask yourself the queation'' Why does Blizzard keeps them like this''. They have had almost 0 practical use and I believe Blizzard could've change most of these a lil'bit more. I also dislike removing the charge mechanic, I think it is really downfall on overall game play, as it help reactive game play, rather than proactive one(which for some reason most players prefer it and thus Blizzard as well) .But lets see what Will happen an interesting outcome might happen.
@@dinkodragnev460 Precisely! Having more options is why buffs are so fun to people.
@@newergamer7974 though some are just not impactful enough and could've been pushed more
A moment of silence for our fallen Boulderfist Ogre brethren.
He had such good stats for the cost that rotated out
He's not gone. He's just relocated to the "Classic" game mode, where he can be king.
It was impossible to buff him any more.. so they let him go to the fields of glory
Let's not forget this also makes lightspawn a legal rally target in tempo heavy priest as a supplement to injured blademaster (who is staying)

Like Reno’s effect ‘poof’ yeah?
yea, I was thinking that adding silence and destroy for assassinate at 5 mana would be a great rogue tool, and in theme
@@kharacon The reason why I went with kidnap and disappear is to remove the target from the rez pool, because rez priest and N'zoth warlock are a plague and everyone should have some tool at least to remove stuff from the rez pool
@@jangaman7823 that would just be 5 mana sap homie
@@jangaman7823 That'd be even much better than a known-to-be-busted past card known as Entomb...
Great stuff! While it's impossible to predict the future accurately, I would have added a potential +1 star to all the spells with the new Spell Schools.
For example Cone of Cold could become even a 5-star card if they print a card like "Freezy McFreezeFace: +2 spell damage to Frost spells" which would boost Cone from 3 damage to 9 damage.
Saving my dust for Freezy McFreezeFace
I think that when considering the DH cards, it's important to remember that twin slice is rotating. I think warglaives are probably fine, in part due to the lack of twin slice.

Nobody in their right mind would run a 1 mana 2/1 or a 2 mana 3/1 just for trades, it’s gotta be face 😪
If I recall, everyone gets these cards for free, so thats a huge boost to people looking to get into the game. Many of these cards are extremely solid, so giving everyone a path into solid Ranked decks will potentially really rejuvenate the game.
Its about time this game gets something like this, it will be refreshing for everyone.
I'm really happy to see _shadow form_ in standard again but I'm a bit disappointed they remove the bonus when cast twice.
Buffs are nice, but sometimes I wonder why they even bother with cards like Druid of the claw if they are clearly still not going to be playable.
I guess Blizzard think people are going to try and use them to be copied with Menagerie Warden? Or maybe there's a bunch of beast druid synergy coming down the line?
I guess this makes it less of an awful lowroll off of Jandice Barov

Seeing Jaraxxus in is new Hero form brings a tear of happiness to my eye :*)
Yesterday I unboxed my first golden legendary and it was jaraxus and i was gonna des enchant it but i saw this video. Thank you regis from preventing a tragedy
I never liked tracking because even though you were looking for a good card for the situation, most of the time (for me) I would usually get 2-3 great cards in my deck that I didn’t want to discard and it felt so bad and annoying. Just my opinion but I love this change.
Exactly
Discarding cards doesn't matter most of the time. Unless you're going to fatigue, which hunter almost never goes, its just like you never drew these cards. Tracking was specially good because it thins your deck. Those two cards gone makes drawing the card you need a little more likely, which is pretty good. That to me feels like a nerf.
@@94gioval I know that but like the guy above explained, it never felt to me like it was an advantage when I played tracking outside of ending the game in the next turn or so. Maybe it was my bad luck but I ended up having to discard cards that I would've loved to draw a turn or two later
Yeh I never used tracking, too risky, now it’s awesome.
@@94gioval yeah but that’s the thing, I would normally have to choice between some of my best cards in the deck. Some of which were my finishers or what pushed me ahead for a few turns to close out a win. I almost never got a great tracking but again that’s just been my experience.
Boulderfist Ogre was lost. My soul has been crushed.
Man I really wanted Tess in the core set. :( RIP my burgle dreams
Wizbang is the card
Same i got my hopes high when i saw swashburgler :/
at least the new burgle mechanic of random class instead of enemy's class is nice, ashame the cards that really like that change have been in wild for years and will never see play
@@oniuserjh True dat. But still, maybe we can get tess back in the next core set.
The tracking change is very dependent on deck. In a late game hunter it's a buff because you don't want to discard your powerful cards, but in most hunter decks, and situations it's a nerf because you can discard early game stuff you don't want to draw.
Can’t wait for baron geddon + plague scientist :p
I'm still so annoyed that Blizzard is clearly against Charge, changing so many cards to not have it any more... But they're still printing a new Charge card for DH!
There're keeping it to legendaries
@@itznoah-live6881 seems like nobody in this low ass IQ community understands this
@@paolo8665 Leroy Jenkins was legendary too, and he was the one that Blizzard was talking about when they said charge was a problem, but sure go off lol
@@Jonadiah13 "Leeroy Jenkins bla bla bla", do you even realize that Leeroy was generic? Every class could abuse it, now only DH has cheap charge legendaries and they have relatively low atk, holy shit I feel like I'm talking to actual children if basic stuff like this needs to be explained...
@@paolo8665 Yes lol, thanks for saying exactly my point. Leroy could be abused by all classes, now only DH gets unreactable damage, and you seem to think that's good? lol
Now blow up for no reason and call me a kid again, it's really funny.
Jaraxxus my boo, my favorite card, you are gonna be legendary :,)
I love that Jaraxxus got buffed but I think he might be a little too strong now! 2 mana summon a 6/6 is an INSANE hero power, so it made sense in the past when you had to make a major sacrifice and take a big risk in order to get that huge upside for the rest of the game. Now he requires so much less risk to play and you might be able to consistently safely get that hero power. Which is pretty scary I think. I just feel like if I'm playing any type of slow deck (which I often do), it's not gonna be a fun time to play against free 6/6s every single turn.
I'm not trying to hate on my boy Jaraxxus, don't get me wrong. I think it's really cool that he got buffed. I'm just a little worried that it might be too easy and require too little sacrifice to transition into that hero power
So they're basically completely removing charge for rush, which I think is good since it always sucks to die to charge
FInally, the Golden Cairne I've held on to for 5 years might see use!
Regis !!! Regis !!! He's Our Man, Rating All the Cards as Fast As he Can!!!!!!
‘Random stuff isn’t that great’ Yes, let’s just ignore the past few years xD
That wasn't because of the random. It was because of *how many* random cards you get. Lock and Load is a -1 in card advantage with potential to plus. For a class that doesn't generate card advantage that much, a -1 hurts a lot.
@@GaussianEntity There is a difference in card quality, sure, but just the blanket statement that 'random isn't great' is not only a bad way of judging a card, but wrong. In mage alone there is Evocation, Mana Cyclone, Jandice, Puzzle Box, not including wild cards, like Tome and Babbling book... hell, GvG gave mage Unstable Portal. I'm not saying the buff to Lock and Load will make it playable, I'm pointing out how stupid the statement was.
@@UnOriginalNameMan Nope, random is bad for the most part. In all of the Standard cards mentioned, they give you many random cards, which is a key difference. Keep this phrase in mind: more random actually leads to less random results overall. In the case of Evocation, you go from 2-9:1 in terms of card economy. That's massive. On top of that, the average result for Mage is that your cards will contain freeze, secrets, and clears or removal. Evocation isn't 2 (or 1) mana get random stuff that you cannot predict, it's almost certainly obtain the above cards mentioned. And I haven't even discussed the fact that Mage cards have always been better standalone cards than other classes as well as being on the lower end of the curve this format. Mana Cyclone follows this same principle without the downside of losing all of your cards.
Yogg box is a curious one because of the way it was intended. A long time ago back when original Yogg was in Standard, someone ran a Yogg simulation of possible board states. IIRC they found that with 20+ spells cast, Yogg's average case was that they would clear the board, draw/generate cards, and cast secrets. Obviously, Yogg box is far more unstable since it has less spells to work with but generally speaking, Yogg box seems to follow similar ideas in Standard with less consistency. The problem was that there were ways to cheat it out for less mana, which would make its downsides of being too expensive and being swingy far more tolerable. It's better to try for board clears against smaller boards earlier than to try to get a rare answer to deal with a complex board state later on in the game.
The whole point of this is that the worst random cards aren't actually random. They give you high-quality cards on average and it doesn't matter what they are since you get so many and have many ways to generate more. It's more about the card economy really.
@@GaussianEntity You are too tunnel visioned on pure value that you are ignoring high rolling. Going back to that initial card, if I Lock and Load, and get another Lock and Load, that's more random which means less random according to you, and more value. It's also unlikely, but the possibility is there, and garbage like that has been in the game forever.
Hell, I've even just ignored random effects, like Rag shots, juggles, deadly shots, ect.
I picked mage because it had the better, clear examples.
If you want to keep thinking random is bad, go ahead. Tell that to Pavel, who ultimately won because he added random into his deck and high rolled against Amnesiac, and paved the way to being 2016 world champion.
@@UnOriginalNameMan I'm not lmao. High-rolling isn't a thing over a lot of games. Besides, what people call high rolls aren't always high rolls. Getting a pre-nerf Evocation from another card wasn't a high roll. It wasn't guaranteed, but it was quite an average roll with all the 1-cost generators. The reason why the "random" cards were so powerful isn't because of the random. It's because of the card advantage you gained.
Lock and Load could become like this, admittedly. Back when the card was printed, Hunter did not have many good cheap cards. Hell, even now that may be debatable since all the stuff that synergizes with Load is rotating out. However, Hunter has a more spread out distribution of spells. Getting Load into Load won't really do much since there's a chance you brick and get expensive spells, which may or may not help you gain tempo. Hunter also lacks efficient board clears. In this case, the average case is closer to tolerable despite being along the same lines as the Mage cards.
And don't even take my word for it. Analyze every good RNG card that has come out since the last 3 years. They will all have some degree of consistency despite being seemingly random. This is also the reason why a lot of those cards don't see play in Wild. The pool is much bigger, more unstable, and filled with truly bad cards. Decks like Quest Mage or Thief Rogue only use them to complete the quest or add durability to the weapon but would absolutely skip stuff like Evocation if something came along that gave a hand full of bananas, for example.
Random is bad, even if it gives you a decent result once in a lifetime. Pavel could have also gotten Shatter and maybe killed the Malygos that way IIRC. The Polymorph wasn't the only out.
So excited for new tracking. I don’t think I have ever played it without discarding an integral card, great I get Reno but lost subject nine or king Krush. So no follow up
Yesss that time I dusted entire decks to make golden jaraxxus has now been great.
cant wait to play the new jaraxxus :) YOU FACE JARAXXUS , EREDAR LORD OF THE BURNING LEGION!
Solid stuff, doesn't even feel like half an hour! And congrats on reaching 140k :)
7:50 that is great stats for the cost if I have seen one
They are fair enough, but sadly they aren't enough for a card to see play on stats alone. Armored Goon is still in standard, in a class with overall better tools for clearing the board, and currently he sees no play.
@@superbaas8822 yeah that is probably because they are no Boulderfist Oger
@@superbaas8822 armored goon is worse than oger because it is weak to mind control
I'm glad that they're willing to buff so many cards. I'm hoping this will take HS in a better direction. Also its nice that a lot of these cards are, frankly, playable. I mean you wouldn't necessarily put them in your deck but when you inevitably randomly generate them you won't feel horrible.
Also, 4 mana BGH is going to be pretty crazy. I think its a bit underrated!!
You know what, small buffs to existing cards (that now form the core set) might be insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but to that f2p player it is significant. The existing cards are getting stronger, not being power-crept upon again in another new expansion which I appreciate as a concept. Even if it's a simple +1/+1 or a 1 mana reduction, i am glad blizzard has finally brought some life back into the base cards.
Also I am now conflicted: Jaraxxus or Blood-Reaver Guldan... i really can't decide in my renolock
Guardian is now playable Jaraxxus to omg after all this years
I hope you'll make a video going through all the important cards that we wont' have from Classic and Basic. It's tough to imagine a meta without some of the cards that are leaving us.
New Jaraxxus looks so good. I’m excited to try a control warlock
A video going over the cards that we will lose might be interesting. I imagine most will be cards that never saw play but it appears their will be some significant losses. For example rogue losing both sap and Edwin is a big hit.
The Craine holds some potential. Virtually every time a deathrattle deck makes it Craine is in there and with Baron in standard it seems like they will finally add some good deathrattle support. I love deathrattle decks and there hasn't been a good one since that broken rogue card they printed which they immediatelly nerfed
I don't remember seeing Baron actually put into a deck instead of summoned randomly outside of Frost Lich Jaina decks but you know that's my aging memory.
Wonder if the Argus change will also happen in battlegrounds as well?
Finally... after all those years I can play my golden Jaraxxus and not die immediately!!!!
Warlock gets Penance in core set, pretty sweet
Will you do a video of the major cards we lost? I'm shocked they removed frotbolt
One thing I have still to understand is if the cards in the core sets of this year will still be in my collection for wild games when they'll rotate out the next year
That's a solid nope. They are just on loan and will vanish in a year, to be replaced with the new core set. But ofcourse a lot of the cards will stay the same.
@@ForGeUT Thanks for the info, I won't bother disenchanting then
@@leonardobattistel4595 I don't plan to either and ofcourse that's how Blizzard wants it to be. Personally, this is the reason I will start playing wild now.. there are just too many beloved cards going there that I will want to play again.
Wait... how Zephrys will work in wild with core set now?
Zephrys will look for cards in the "Legacy" set.
love the energy in all your videos:)
The Warsong change does have the upside of giving minions from deathrattles rush
I definitely see Tracking as a buff more than anything. In constructed, all of the cards in my deck are good cards that work towards the goal of the deck, and it feels terrible having to burn two cards just to gain the best of the three. Discovering a copy is just way better, and I'll be excited to put this version in my deck and start copying my best cards instead of burning my good cards just to draw my best.
Jaraxxus is a major change for Warlock, as it’s no longer a Hail Mary but rather a legitimate option at any point in the game.
Not the best Changes but there are changes... That makes me Hope for the Future. (thx for the Information Regis)
I think Menagerie Warden might be secretly good, it already had spots in wild niche decks and the way druids play rn is they easily ramp plus, imagine guardian animals so the stealthed twilight runner has rush, also it protects itself because of stealth so next turn for just 5 mana you get a 5/4 rush and draws two cards, even without the Rush synergy the tempo it gains when turn 5 or 4 even with innervate/coin into the followup turn 5 mana 9/8 in stats (from the warden + copy of runner) don't forget we also have broom. But even without that the tempo even from turn 5 runner and turn 6 warden is great I believe and there are a ton of ramp in druid so I will not be surprised if she will get played
Personally I feel as though the tracking change is a buff to control hunter decks and can open up that option more. It’s a nice cycle, giving you 3 options that is good for your game plan since they are in your deck, AND it DOESNT thin you out giving you more time as a control deck. That being said, it’s def a nerf to aggro hunter though
Argent protector seems pretty efficient to me. Might not be great now but I can see it being included in an aggro deck one day.
It's definitely better for tempo now, a divine shield on curve to trade shouldn't be scoffed at
@@basvanderveen3059 Yeah, I also like the fact that most 1/2 drops are dead draws later on but if you draw it could give you a free trade between 2 fairly big minions.

Anyone remember shatter in mage . Now compare that to the same rarity snap freeze :) also I was looking forward to stacking shadow form buffs and maybe making a super hero power with the new support.
I mean, shatter is legal in duels, we have to be careful about breaking the power balance of that mode.
@@superbaas8822 TBH I preferred it before they balanced it because now it does not feel as OP especially when I play wild and feel those decks can beat most duels decks.

Do we need to disenchant our cards? Because we get them for free when the core set comes out?
Pretty sure Core cards can't be disenchanted, and you get access to them all for free. If you disenchant Basic/Classic cards you're only getting back standard dust and lose access to them in Wild and Classic mode.
@@nigh_anxiety Not many people will care about wild or classic. Already nobody cares about wild. And Classic will be fun for a few games, before everyone gets bored of a meta that was solved years ago.
Also, also, is the Defender of Argus buff gonna affect Battlegrounds?
Please do a video on the cards we lost and your thoughts on them. Which do you think should've been here and do you hope/believe will likely return next time. I feel like they cut too many and could have made the core set closer to 300 cards.
You forgot our 1/7 Deathrattle Boi
U undervalued all these small buffs, but think how much better zephyrs is now. I’ll follow that card to wild if I have to
I don't think people remember how strong Defender of Argus was in beta as a 3/3 - one of the dominant zoo style cards alongside Shattered Sun Cleric (also a 3/3 at the time). Yes, the power level is way higher now and no, I don't think unnerfed Argus is going to be all that impactful, but man does it give me some SERIOUS nostalgia - as well as unpleasant flashbacks.
New Jaraxxus is great. Another viable Hero card for Warlock, and it already has one of the strongest if you play Wild.
Should I disenchant the cards in my collection that will be in the core set?

I’m excited for Jaraxxus to be playable, but it feels like a major hit to his flavor!
Just for Jaraxxus I might return to Hearthstone. I love that card
Holy Crap that Jaraxxus buff.
Looking at what Priest gets vs what Priest loses (Thoughtsteal, Shadow Madness, Breath of the Infinite, Galakrond, Mass Rez & Catrina, Kaarhj, Lazul, PENANCE [Warlocks took that one xD]) I'm afraid Anduin will have "Rotation sickness" again. They better make Priest's Barrens cards really good!
Idk if it'd be too much work but a video on significant classic/basic cards that are missing would be nice, hard to remember what's gone for me
After all these years imma finally be able to own Jaraxxus :)
If they ever give Shaman handbuff support Al'akir could be a great top end finished, since charge is basically gone in standard.
Jaraxus is plain op now. His hp is so strong and getting that weapon is too. The problem was setting ourselves down to 15. They got rid of that and you get 5 armor. Prepare for a soul controllock meta... Just give up turn 9 caise you'll never beat jaraxuses wave of 6/6s
Something tells me you've never delt with frost lich Jaina, who is in a class that could stabilize better than warlock could, and frost lich gave healing on top of a lockdown effect and a 1 damage ping to finish minions off. Even with all that, she was strong, not overpowered, in a meta where the power level was far lower than this one we are now.
I put Jaraxxus at 3 stars. Fine in a meta that plays to his strengths.
@@superbaas8822 its standard tho and warlock has quick good and greedy control cards with tickatus and the coruppt stuff. Plus healing with the soul fragments.

finally a use for my golden jaraxxus...
Warsong seems really strong its oppressive fight with opponent that has houndmaster/doctor boom since they always guarantee get better trade before we do and people forced to use their removal for a 3 health minion.
Also the fact with war song we can played more than a card its way more consistent.
Warsong is the new ETC enabler since Bloodsworn merc is out. Combo it with a bunch of 0 and 1 cost minions
PATRON WARRIOR IS BACK LETS GOOOOO
something i feel might be a big dealbreaker with the new core set is how few cards there are, only 16 cards each class seems like so few compared to the 25 we used to have
Didn't defender of argus used to be a 3/3?
Pretty devastated that I can no longer run Jaraxxus in my big demon warlock. I will never forget Voidcaller-ing Jaraxxus to the board and slamming down a "SHIELDS UP!" to make the ultimate wall.
So are we able to play with the new coreset cards in the new Legacy?
Tracking is a nerf to tempo decks but a buff to slower decks.
Should we disenchant the cards that will be on the core set?
Hell ye boi you face the true eredar lord
Hey Regis, I'm not keeping 100% up to date with hearthstone announcements, but have any devs talked about how Zephrys is going to work in wild after the core set is released?
