Truth - and it's not all the networks fault - it's our fault. Back in the 40s and 50s yes, white Hollywood controlled the roles that blacks played in movies but here in the 21rst century Hollywood is full of black writers, directors, producers and executives. So now WE have more control over the types of stories and characters we choose to represent, yet 90% of the movies written and produced by us are the same tired tropes about the "black struggle" or "adversity" or have us playing the same stereotypical black character.
We're doing it to ourselves now.
White films win more Oscars because their characters and subject matter are more eclectic and not tethered to this obsessive need to give some social or political nod to the race of the the character.

That's something I like about Spiderverse, other than it being a masterpiece of animation and an amazing story, it got a black lead with issues unrelated to struggle and discrimination, like they ain't make him grow up in the hood or something, just some normal superhero stuff.

Just write it! Include enough black characters that they have to go beyond the stereotypes.
I'm writing and drawing a comic book where most of the main characters are Black and I'm trying to stay as far away as possible from overused and excessive Black stereotypes and clichés.
I'd rather not pitch it at all if producers and writers want to change it to add more stereotypes to my characters or if they want to change it to not be the way I envisioned it. I just want to make a good, interesting series with characters that people love and are inspired by. Don't let anyone try to change your story so it can "fit better to a broader audience" or to make it "woke." Write it the way you want it and the true people who like it will support it. Good luck on your cartoon.
i think you could probably still pitch it if you're confident in what you wrote and see what they say. i think it might be better to at least try than not try at all although im completely inexperienced with this stuff so take my opinion with a grain of salt
Whatever you pitch is your pitch. The producers cannot change your work so don't worry about it.
Please try animation in general nowadays is lack luster due to it mostly being made for the lowest common denomiator. Dumb adult jokes, toilet humor etc...we need more stories in animation that also aren't so black and white either. Create a story that goes beyond the skin color develop the characters and have them deal with issues that everyone goes through, that's relatable.
