Jimmy why do you blib the throttle while downshifting, also i am not sure if you really can rotate a kz2 on the brake because of the front brake. It can easily snap your steering full lock.
@@NLNeuro ok but i don't think it would work in a kart since you don't use a clutch to shift and i think it would unsettle the kart or even be bad for the motor if you give it throttle while braking. Also no rev matching doesn't unsettle the kart at least irl if you don't over rev it. And i haven't seen anyone do it in real life yet
Hey, has someone told Jimmer about the cheat that enables you to drive round the road racing circuit, as discovered by Mattinho from Mattinho Got Game???
You probably knew this Jimmy but the shifter karts use a 6 speed sequential manual stick on the right side of the wheel with a hand clutch for shifting into first gear off the start. Shifter karts also usually do standing starts and that is what makes them so crazy and dangerous but fun. And if they add Mosport Kartways to the game I suggest trying that track because I have raced there in real life and it is a very fun, long and flowing track with lots of elevation changes similar to this one.
I live an hour from this track and love it! Amazing elevation changes and great track layout. also available in VR on rFactor 2. Atlanta Motorsports Park
For the first 10 seconds or so, I thought this was a real video of one of your kart races. If you squint your eyes a little, you'd think its was actual real footage. The lighting model is amazing.
Racing KZ emptied my meager wallet like nothing else (just to get a kart onto the grid!) but it certainly felt like an achievement just to show up and make it the end without being lapped and/or killed. Pity you couldn't do a standing start, that was the most exciting (and dangerous!) part that I loved about racing KZ. This video brought back some great memories, thanks Jimmer.
I have talked with a few shifter kart drivers. The overwhelming impression I get is that you get no rest. You are always doing something, and doing it in a hair-on-fire manner. Take the overall effort of a kart and multiply it by "it accelerates /how/ fast?" and that's what it sounds like.
ASMP is actually in the infield of Road Atlanta its pretty neat. But I'm glad you're getting into Karting. I was about to drop a lot of money on my car to be able to do track days once a month at Road Atlanta. Went to a single rental race and I was sold. Now I get to race almost every weekend and its so much more time on track for my money than a car could ever give me. So thank you Jimmy for the promotion of the sport. Some proper madlads that do this shit irl.
This reminds of when I drove a Superkart a few years back. They accelerate like you wouldn't believe and the corners are coming at you so fast. The track was also quite bumpy so I didn't expect the strange issue of not being able to see very much at top speed (100mph+ I think it was). Difficult to describe but it's like your eyeballs are vibrating in their sockets. lol. You also can't risk using the kerbs too much, one guy took too much kerb and ended up in an ambulance. Made the rest of us a bit anxious about having a run...It was good fun though and the sensation of sitting that low at speeds above 70mph is unreal. Feels like 700mph! :)
That is Atlanta Motorsports Park Karting track. Absolutely FANATASTIC track, so lucky to live 30 mins from there. If you are ever in the southeast USA definitely check it out! The downhill section into turn 2 is crazy how steep it is
Jimmer! It's not ASMP like you thought, but AMSP. It stands for Atlanta Motorsports Park. It's a full motorsports park (obviously including a kart track) only about an hour and a half or so from where I live! It's where I intend on starting my racing career in karting hopefully very soon :)
I used to race 125icc and 125 open long and short circuit. Not once have I ever done a WHOLE RACE using ONE ARM on the wheel 😂 Literally killing myself with laughter watching this. Just Class 😂🤣 Brilliant work Jimmer 😁
Re: shifting (from the lead dev) "The ability to shift at max RPM is because the limiter is engaged and there’s no load on the engine. If you time your shifts with the limiter, it’s possible to not lift off." And yes, more official tracks are coming, including eventually opening up to community created mods.
Oh Jimmers, I'm fixing to start school back again and I'm glad this is one of the last vids I see before I enter utter and complete hell. Greetings from SC, USA (about to be called the Underworld)
I’ve driven this track in real life, in their rental karts. It’s pretty crazy, and it’s the only time my wife has agreed to ride along with me in a 2 seater kart!
I had to quit karts before i moved into shifter class. I did test them in practice and my god it was insane. I thought my tag kart was quick but it was nothing. If you ever get the opportunity to drive one irl i would take it, there is nothing else like it in motorsports.
I'm just a hobbyist and I drove a Superkart some years ago, on an experience day. Yep, totally agree. Absolutely bonkers and it takes your brain some to time to adjust to something that fast.
I bought this game and i love it. I've been racing shifter karts in a real life and the karts feels really similar in the game - still needs some fixes, but its understandable as the game is still in the development. Its so much fun in both real life and in the game. ♥️
Mickey Love when you are driving, you right arm is allways at the steeringwheel. You only pur the hands away to Shift the gears. Otherwise you Kart wants to kill you in every corner 😂

I dont know why all you guys goshing about right hand on the shift leaver because i have an experience of marshaling those mad lads for six years. And the pure physicality just demands to keep both hands on the wheel, otherwise you'll run out of juice in couple of laps. Drivers have it like a paddle under the wheel itself. Yeah, some really have it like in the video, but those are rare and not at highest tier of talent , and basically for shit and giggles. But the main thing that bothered me was the audio. Man... KZ2 powerful as fuck! And it have all the ringing, high pitch notes. Just typing i get a goosebumps. Under braking tyres always squeak a little, the chassis banging the ground, front bumper flops around and make silly noises. But here all is like I'am in the pair of really crappy headphones...
