Interestingly I'd say a major difference between the first book and this show is (spoiler) In the books, the mystery isn't 'who is the dragon', you don't even know that there is such a thing as a dragon until like, the middle of the book I think... the mystery of the book is "why are the trollocs after me?" (and yes, it's focused on Rand). The show made it, i think, more of a simpler mystery, one that would be much more easily digested by people just trying to figure out what this magical world is. "Who" is an easier question to grasp than "why"...
Great to see more reactions coming out to this amazing series!! Every episode is so good! I have some issues with some aspects, especially in the later part of the season, but season 2 is a huge step up and S3 is rumored to be at least as much a step up as that! It's always tough when things are cut or changed, but I continuously appreciate how we get to see off-page scenes from the book and get to spend more time in the world of WoT! Sometimes it's pretty direct from book to screen, sometimes it's what we wanted to get from off-page references, and sometimes it's like another turning or a consolidation (and sometimes elaboration) of scenes throughout. I was surprised by the changes at first, as I was thinking of Lord of the Rings and how they adapted that pretty close to the book, but this isn't Lord of the Rings - it's so much larger in terms of pages, so there needs to be a larger change in regard to cutting and consolidating, so it's really hard to use direct quotes/scenes from the book that will make sense with the huge amount they have to cut. The only way to keep the main thread of the story is to change most of the minute to minute, but try to incorporate as many quotes and scenes as possible. Sometimes later quotes or scenes or concepts are mixed in as well, to help keep the story cohesive. At least, this is what I've learned from watching the whole series so far multiple times. It's amazing the way they add easter eggs and plant seeds for later seasons.
Unfortunately the end of session one was impacted by Covid. So there were some last minute changes to the ending. Hopefully you can enjoy the ending with the Covid imposed changes.
Hey JS, keep them coming. I see that's you've seen episode 4 already, one of the best this season. Can't wait for your reaction. Ep3 laid down some good lore and world building, and some short action sequences. Good start.

I thought that it was great that they included the manetheren backstory here which is important for future seasons 😊

will the reactions continue?
Absolutely. I've had so much going on that both the Patreon and UA-cam had slowed down a bit but I'm back on it. Sorry for the wait.
Hi, just wondering when you’re planning on posting more Wheel of Time reactions!
