THANK YOUYou are the fist video that clearly explains the issue about overheating, and provides options to prevented it!. Thanks for explaining the different setting and the extra time it allowed you, to film, before giving you message. It finally made sense, a huge factor in deciding to buy it or not. I thought it was a defective product. Hope Cannon finds you, they could learn from how you explain it, to help customers. Thanks again.

I wish there wasnt a overheat or video stopping problem in 2024! This should not be a problem. Even my phone records continously

Have you had issues with it not powering on? I’m using the cord it came with to charge. Left it charging for a hour. And it doesn’t turn on. Power lights blinking red and green. I’ve literally only had this camera a month if that.

I don't understand your results with external power. Did you use a PD power source? Only a PD power source can power the camera as long as the external battery lasts. Canon provides specific examples of the external batteries that provide PD power. You seemed to have done something wrong if you only got the same run times with the internal battery and external. I get much bigger run times with an Anker external battery pack that is recommended by Canon.

Would you recommend this for zoom meetings 5-6 hrs a day... no overheating issue?

Good morning! That's a good question. I have actually been playing around with it for live streams and teaching (which I do via zoom). I haven't been able to test it for multi-hour meetings, but one of the things I noticed is you have to have the camera extremely close. When I make videos with it, it's like eight inches from my face. I will start working on a video testing the overheating with Zoom calls and post to the channel.

this is a really great review, do you know if there is a straight record time limit? Stuck between this and the Sony ZV1F.

Great question! They say it records until the "maximum time is reached" but it's hard to find what that max time is. www.usa.canon.com/shop/p/powershot-v10?color=Black&type=New

@RootedConsulting The European site says 1 hour. www.canon-europe.com/cameras/powershot-v10/specifications/#:~:text=Max%20movie%20continuous%20recording%20time,4K)%3A%20max%205%20min.

Hi, just wondering does the battery charge when you are using the camera as webcam with the usb conection?

We are going to re-test but we had issues with it timing out after about an hour. It was related to overheating not battery life.

love the video! i did have a question. I have heard that this camera and the sony zv-1f are pretty similar. with your knowledge do you believe it’s better to get the canon v10? or the sony zv-1f? I am planning on using the camera for vlogging and sit down videos (up to 2hrs) I would love to hear some input :) i am very much going back and forth on these two camera and can’t decide which to buy

The zv-1f is a a point and shoot camera with a variable focus length. The Powershot has camera guts but a fixed/wide angle "Go Pro ish" camera. The Powershot line is like the zv but this is very different. Hope that helps!

I’m here because I just got my canon v10 through Amazon. I took it out the box and automatically played with it. Low battery warning came on and I turned it off and charged it. Came back an hour later to mess around with the settings. 5 seconds into turning it back on, it froze, and shut down. Didn’t know what to do so I let it sit and went to work. After 8 hours of work came home charged it, waiting 2 hours, then it turned back on froze, and went blank. Do I just return it or is this normal ?

I would 100% return it. Before doing so try updating the firmware. I use the Canon Connect app to it. That might help. If it persists, get them to ship a new one to you.

It sucks this thing won’t charge while on a battery pack but they are so cheap you can have two which you should always have anyways. Use one while charging the other

Yeah, it's strange that Canon would put out anything that still overheats.
