I love how all the bigger youtubers are doing playthroughs of this game (Pewdiepie, Jacksepticeye etc.). It's really bringing half life back into the light as it should and its great to see half-life be more than just a nerdy old sci-fi game again. Also VR being popularized is amazing and Valve have truly outdone themselves once again.
Jacksepticeye has been a big proponent of VR ever since the Oculus devkit. I'm so glad he's doing a full series for HLA. His super long playthroughs like Undertale, Life is Strange, and Papers Please are genuine gold.

Baghr I almost started crying during the strider part because I had no ammo, and no health. I was expected to fight more and more combine. And the strider can shoot through rubble props, so it was almost impossible to get cover. I was playing on normal.
There’s more jumpscares too which I think is a neat touch. I think it’s funny when streamers play and certain scripted encounters don’t happen and you can tell they play on easy mode lmao
Hanson just make sure you use the right weapons and play strategically rather than blunt force. I know which part you’re talking about, I guess I didn’t have as much trouble because I play VR a lot, but it also requires a slower way of playing.
I see that the design philosophy behind interactivity is pretty much "only one degree of interaction with unimportant environment, two degrees of interaction with 'toys'. Three with hero props."
Playing this game myself was sincerly magical. I started crying seeing City 17 again, probably cuz I've literally waited half my life to play the next installment in my favorite video game series, and I think this game might top Half-Life 2 to me as the best video game I've ever played. Thanks Tyler for being such a great youtuber and giving us so many great videos to watch! All your hard work has paid off!

After finishing the game I gotta say, it’s become one of my favourites. (Slight spoiler down below) The Zoo and Jeff were my favourite levels in the game, wish they had more stuff with the city vibes like in the zoo and (beginning of) northern star levels.
I love how Tyler has been so serious and critical of valve the whole time leading up to this, but as soon as he starts playing he's like a giddy child. It's probably one of the biggest stamps of quality this game could have.

I've said this on a few different occasions...after all these years I was so excited to watch this game live streamed since I didnt want to build a whole new rig and buy VR...Tyler's commentary really ruined the experience...it was excruciating to watch and have to listen to, to the point where I stopped watching finally after around 3 hours and just watched another streamer playthrough who didnt use commentary.
When entering the room with the VHS camera, If you check on the top shelf on your left you can found a early picture of Dog! I found this detail really cool! I think I passed a solid 30 minutes in that room alone being amazed
In case you were still wondering, Tyler, some VHS cameras DO have viewfinder screens on them, depending on the model and particular format. I, for example, own a JVC camera from the early 2000's that uses the VHS-C format, and it has a viewfinder screen. I had previously owned another, older model of VHS-C camcorder that also had a viewfinder screen. I've also seen both online and in person ones that use larger VHS formats. It's not at all off the table for a VHS camcorder of the period to have a viewfinder.
Anyone find it strange how before release he literally said his playthrough would be 15-20 hours because he'd look at every little detail yet in this he seems to be racing through it as fast as possible not paying attention? Guess he was spoiled on part of the story and maybe he just wanted to play it so he can get his next video out?
I have waited untill now to watch this because i am still waiting for my Index. This is great. If more people had VR this would have exploded much more. It literally is everything they imagined for Half Life 2 back then. A fully immersive, believeable scyfy world. Be it narrow or scripted, the VR makes is something else.
